Emerson looked at Barbarossa's memories and was particularly interested in one scene.
Young Barbarossa, leading a mother and daughter, escaped the army's encirclement through the dimly lit streets. Due to his weakness and inability to move, the mother placed her newborn daughter in Barbarossa's arms, then, while kissing her lips, secretly chose to end her own life with a dagger.
When Barbarossa picked up the woman who had committed suicide, the pirate king nearly broke down in tears, vowing to bring destruction and fear to every city of his enemies.
However, the scene flashed by so quickly that few people noticed it.
After all the images had finished, the four-winged archangel glanced at the scales, and the scales tipped towards the evil side.
The archangel shook his head at Barbarossa and said in a deep voice, "The judgment is over. You cannot pass through here."
As soon as he finished speaking, the bricks beneath Barbarossa's feet began to collapse, and the burst of flames instantly engulfed his body.
From within the crowd came a woman's heart-wrenching cry: "No!"
Emerson looked closely and saw Aisha rushing towards Barbarossa, who was surrounded by flames, trying to pull him out.
Barbarossa turned to look at Aisha rushing towards him. His initial surprise was suddenly replaced by relief and joy. He smiled and shook his head, whispering, "Don't disappoint me, my daughter."
In an instant, a huge hole split open in the ground. Liquid formed from sulfur and magma slowly filled the entire opening. Hundreds upon hundreds of demonic arms reached out from the hole and climbed onto Barbarossa's body. Amid the screams and prayers of the onlookers, his flesh was torn apart piece by piece, revealing the white bones and fascia beneath. After letting out a final, mournful cry, his soul was dragged directly into the ground, never to be seen again.
Barbarossa's trial ended, and he was finally condemned to hell.
Seeing this scene before him, Emerson felt his scalp tingle and his whole body tremble. He stumbled and fell to the ground, only to find that his legs had completely given way and he couldn't get up at all.
Looking around, he found that many people had the same experience as him, all of whom were terrified by what they had just witnessed.
The angels, accustomed to this, began searching the ranks of the dead for the next person to be judged.
The female angel leading the procession of the dead first looked at Aisha, who was lying on the ground weeping, and then at the citizens of Twilight City.
She flew to the four-winged archangel and said respectfully, "These people are not the dead; they should not remain here."
The archangel looked down at these insignificant mortals and said softly, "God brought them here and gave them the right to regain their faith. Mortals! Choose! You can go back now, or you can continue onward."
Seeing the blinding light from the city gate, Emerson struggled to his feet and said to the four-winged archangel before him, "I hope to continue forward and witness my faith with my own eyes!"
The four-winged archangel remained silent for a moment, then stepped aside to make way for the citizens of Muxi City, saying, "Enter this gate, and the truth you seek awaits you ahead."
Among the citizens of Muxi City, some chose to follow Emerson and continue forward, while others hesitated and wanted to turn back.
Ultimately, only one-third of the total number of citizens entered the gate.
