Chapter 540 The Construction of Alien Warships

Entering the secret dock built deep underground, Todd stared in astonishment at the enormous structure before him, standing motionless for a long time.

A massive black warship, half-built, sat quietly in the center of the underground dock, resting on a wooden frame three stories high, almost occupying the entire space of the underground cavern.

Compared to the experimental alien warship that participated in the Battle of Lone Rock, this massive warship is nearly ten times larger in both length and displacement. To put it simply, comparing the two ships is like putting an apple and a cherry together.

This new warship is entirely black, with a subtle metallic sheen. It adopts a spindle-shaped hull structure, completely abandoning sails and jibs. The propulsion system uses a common twin-shaft propeller, and the hull features bottom rudders and auxiliary wings for steering. In terms of appearance, it clearly resembles modern warships from its previous life, with a design style that is more in line with hydrodynamics.

Around the warship, thousands of workers, scholars, and crew members are working intensively on a series of construction and testing projects.

The sounds of knocking and conversation filled the cave. Although it was late at night, everyone's face was filled with enthusiasm for their work, showing no signs of fatigue or boredom.

"The Holy King has arrived!"

With a loud shout, everyone who was busy with their work looked in surprise at the visitor at the door. After a brief moment of disbelief, they quickly dropped what they were doing, knelt down, and faced the direction Todd had come from, with cheers rising and falling.

"It is 107.5 meters long, has a full load displacement of 2,130 tons, a beam of 9.68 meters, and a draft of 3.81 meters." Facing the culmination of his hard work, an excited Wayne walked to the front of the warship, looked up at the constantly wriggling parasitic limbs on the bow, and proudly said, "Maximum speed is 4.1 kilometers per hour, and the standard crew size is 201 people, including 167 Crusaders and 34 humans."

Passing by the kneeling staff, Todd slowly walked to the base of the warship. As he got closer, he realized the immense size of the warship and the insignificance of humanity.

Todd looked at the intertwined keel tentacles at the joints between the ship's armor plates and asked, "Is this the module you were talking about?"

Wayne nodded to his assistant behind him, who then blew the whistle hanging around his neck.

A moment later, the warship's armor, which had been tightly sealed, began to gradually deform. Piece by piece, the parasitic deck plates loosened their joints and transformed into individual insect units.

As an orc jumped off the ship with a keel parasite that, after being separated, resembled a giant iron plate, Wayne said, “Your Majesty, as I explained before, each host controls a hull module, and the modules are connected by the keel’s nervous system to ensure that commands from the bridge can be transmitted smoothly.”

Todd asked, "How many modules are there in the entire warship?"

"The entire warship is divided into six major areas: command area, power area, armored area, hull area, weapons area, and reconnaissance area."

"Among them, the command area has three modules, which are three pairs of keel parasites, including one main command module and two deputy command modules."

"The power area includes 16 modules, including 6 propeller modules, 6 bearing modules, and 4 linkage modules."

"The armored area refers to the outer and inner armor of the ship's hull, with the outer armor having 65 modules and the inner armor having 35 modules."

"The cabin area includes the hull frame and the internal nervous system wiring, totaling 32 modules."

"The modules for the weapon zone and reconnaissance zone are still under construction, and the quantity cannot be determined at this time."

After listening to Wayne's explanation, Todd asked, "How are the modules controlled, and how are the parasite's hosts arranged?"

Wayne waved to Todd, gesturing for him to walk up the steps to the top of the ship and take a look.

Todd followed the instructions and walked up the steps to the construction site of the ship's hull. Looking through the unfinished sections, he saw countless parasitic limbs linking together numerous keels. Some of these keels had transformed into cabins, some into floors, and others into wiring.

Many of the keel modules were immersed in a viscous liquid, and in the center of each module, one could vaguely see a host sitting or lying inside.

Wayne pointed to the internal structure of the ship and explained, "Most of the keel limbs of the modules are soaked in a special nutrient solution. During peacetime, the keel parasites enter a dormant state, and their daily nutrient consumption can be completely provided by the nutrient solution. At this time, the host can temporarily detach from the parasite module and freely engage in activities such as eating, sleeping, and entertainment inside the ship."

"Once a state of war is entered, the host must immediately return to the parasite module's body, respond to the commands from the command module, and activate the module belonging to it. The dragon bone parasite will then begin to extract nutrients from the host's body for use during the war."

Todd thought for a moment and then asked, "If this warship were put into a state of war, how long could the nutrients in the host's body sustain it?"

Wayne stroked his chin, pondering as he said, "This time is not fixed; it changes constantly depending on the situation on the battlefield."

"Let me give you an example. If our side needs to engage in close combat with enemy warships, then the ship armor will inevitably suffer a lot of artillery fire. Although all armor modules can be continuously repaired through regeneration, this repair requires a lot of nutrients from the host's body. To put it more intuitively, if we use numbers, assuming that the person controlling the ship armor module is an orc with a standard physique, then under continuous artillery fire, the ship armor module will probably cause the host to die in about two hours."

"But if it is a long-range attack on the enemy, then the module host that controls the weapon system will be under the greatest pressure. If the alien destroyer's giant gun fires at maximum power, without taking a break, it will probably endanger the life of the weapon module host after about nine consecutive shots."

“Weapon systems? Giant cannons?” Todd looked around, then suddenly turned to Wayne and asked, “Why don’t I see any weapons on this warship?”

Wayne nodded and pointed towards the cave behind the dock: "The weapons on this warship are the most absolute secret in the entire alien weapon research. Its testing and manufacturing are carried out in a safer place. Moreover, its power also means that it cannot be placed in this cramped space."

Todd looked at the cave at the end of the dock, a look of curiosity on his face.

He jumped down from the wooden ship's frame and said to Wayne, "Come on, take me to see the warship with the giant cannon you've been talking about."
