Sutherland Soul Space.
Watching the live broadcast of the war from mid-air, Todd said in a deep voice, "Your army has failed."
Sutherland looked at the floating image and did not refute Todd's words.
In the scene, the Shadow Beast Corps, in coordination with the Knights of Twilight, the Crusaders, and the human alliance, launched a fatal attack on the horde of corpses.
One wave after another of the undead were crushed by the combined attack and never rose again, becoming mountains of wreckage piled up on the earth.
Sutherland stared at the shadowy war beast in the image and muttered to himself, "I recognize these creatures. Back in the age of the gods, they were my hounds. I thought they were extinct, but I never expected to see them here."
Todd said, "Don't those who once obeyed you and followed you now stand against you? Stop it. You still have a chance to change everything."
Sutherland turned to Todd and said, “You may have misunderstood something… My goal is not to destroy everything, but to get you to agree to enter the portal and become the new leader of the alien wanderers.”
"So, in a sense, the decision-making power in this war does not lie with me, but with you."
"If you agree to leave this world and lead the alien species to settle down in a new world, then I will order the undead to cease all attacks."
Todd frowned. "Do you think I'm an idiot? Once you open the portal, the beacon tower's defenses will automatically activate."
"At that time, the whole world will be shrouded in the shadow of the apocalypse."
“Once I leave, my kingdom, even if it is no longer attacked by the undead, will not escape destruction.”
Sutherland looked at Todd and said, "You should know that even if the Beacon Tower's doomsday mechanism isn't triggered, your kingdom won't last much longer."
Todd: "But at least we still have a chance, a chance to survive, however slim, but it's still hope..."
Sutherland sighed softly. "See, Todd, that's the difference between you and me. Having lived through so much time, I've seen all the so-called miracles and coincidences. This world has its own rules. You can't place all your hopes on a negligible chance. It's a pointless gamble, and one with an extremely low probability of winning."
"Only the most naive gambler would think about their desired number before rolling the dice, forgetting that dice have six sides..."
Todd raised his voice: "This isn't about gambling, it's about the lives of millions! You've seen it yourself, even the hounds of the gods have stepped forward to face the challenge of fate. Why do you, who have become a god, always think of retreating?!"
Sutherland shook his head and said, “Todd, you need to see clearly that it is this body that has become a god, not me. I am merely a soul residing in this body, using it to wield divine power.”
“Once the will of the dead is about to take over this soul space, then I will have to forcibly leave this body to preserve my soul from being corrupted.”
"That's why I raced against time to open the portal and save as many sparks of life as possible for this world!"
Seeing that Todd was still unconvinced, Sutherland sighed deeply, "Although I didn't want it to come to this..."
Before he could finish speaking, Sutherland's soul space closed, and Todd's soul was taken out.
On a small island in the middle of a sea of lava, the dragon found itself gradually regaining its ability to move.
Todd used his hind legs to support his body, stood up, and raised his dragon head to look in all directions.
Ivy, who was by his side, asked with concern, "You're awake?"
Todd nodded and asked, "Where are Meredith and Rachel?"
Evie: "Meredice left with Sutherland, and Rachel... she left without saying goodbye."
Todd paused for a moment, then turned to Evie and said, "We must stop Sutherland from activating the beacon tower."
"If the beacon tower is not activated, then we all still have a glimmer of hope; if it is activated, then only the end of the world awaits us."
With a flap of his dragon wings, Todd gestured for Evie to climb onto his back.
With a strong gust of wind, the dragon's wings flapped violently, and a large amount of white steam rose from the magma.
Todd took off from the small island and flew towards the cave overhead.
After flying upwards for a while, Todd saw a huge platform where people were praying and worshipping everywhere.
And a colossal figure—Sutherland—stood amidst the churning lava, its countless limbs extending slowly toward the surface of the beacon tower.
Todd turned and nodded to Evie, who took out a bow and arrow from behind her back, put her right hand to her mouth, and whistled.
The four Valkyries, each riding their own griffin mounts, took off from the platform and approached the giant dragon in mid-air.
Evie gestured to the other four, then launched the first attack.
An arrow shot through the air and struck Sutherland's eye.
Todd opened his massive mouth and spat out a huge fireball toward Sutherland's head.
The arrow struck the eyeball with a metallic clang, bounced off, flew into the air, and finally fell into the lava.
The fireball struck Sutherland on the back of the neck, accompanied by an explosion and a burst of light. The latter's body was completely unharmed, showing not even the slightest sign of damage.
Sutherland continued his movements, but his voice echoed throughout the entire cave.
“Todd, I woke you up just so you could see how vast the gap is between you and God.”
"Give up the futile struggle and prepare to embrace the new world."
Evie gritted her teeth, put away her bow and arrow, drew a circle in the air with her finger, and then pointed it forcefully at Sutherland.
The other four Valkyries nodded, drew their spears, mounted their steeds, and charged towards Sutherland's body.
Using the griffin's flight momentum, the spear, carrying immense kinetic energy, pierced Sutherland's carapace.
The ear-piercing clang continued, the spear snapped in two, while Sutherland remained unharmed.
Seemingly tired of these fly-like Valkyries, Sutherland stretched out his enormous limbs toward the four Valkyries flying in the air.
Giant waves appeared on the surface of the magma sea, shooting straight into the air like fountains.
The two Valkyries, unable to dodge in time, were engulfed by the gushing lava and instantly vanished without a trace.
The remaining two Valkyries, riding griffins, fought their way through the lava with their time-slowing abilities. Before they could even come to a stop in the air, thousands of rocks crumbled off the rock face, engulfing them like a storm.
Amidst screams and cries of agony, the battered Valkyrie and griffin plummeted into the sea of lava, never to live again.
Sutherland's limbs then touched the beacon tower, whose surface rippled like a lake.
Soon, the beacon tower began to glow slowly, its pale blue light gradually overshadowing the rolling red lava.
