"boom!"

The lightning struck the target, and the experimental subject let out a painful roar. However, to Xiao Yi's surprise, the device was not destroyed, but only had some cracks.

"It's useless!" the doctor shouted triumphantly, "That device is made of special materials. Your lightning ability can't..."

Before he finished speaking, the doctor suddenly widened his eyes. Because he saw that Xiao Yi had an energy pistol in his hand.

"Bang!"

The blue energy bullet accurately hit the crack in the device. This time, the device finally couldn't withstand it and exploded.

"No!" the doctor screamed in despair.

The experimental subject struggled frantically, the scales on its body began to fall off, and its wings were rapidly shrinking. It seemed to have regained some of its sanity, and a trace of pain flashed in its bloodshot eyes.

"Kill...me..." it said with difficulty, and Zhang Ming's shadow could be vaguely heard in the voice.

Xiao Yi was silent for a moment, and the last ray of lightning ended its pain.

The laboratory fell into a deathly silence. The doctor slumped on the ground, as if he had lost all his strength.

"It's over." Xiao Yi walked up to the doctor, "Now, tell me the true purpose of the Crimson Cross."

The doctor raised his head and showed a strange smile. "Do you think this is the end? Mr. Xiao, you are too naive. This is just the beginning..."

Suddenly, the entire laboratory began to shake violently. Dr. Lin shouted in fear: "The self-destruct sequence has been activated! We must leave immediately!"

Xiao Yi grabbed the doctor and said, "Let's go!"

As the three of them ran out of the laboratory, a loud bang was heard behind them. The huge shock wave knocked the three of them to the ground. When the dust settled, Xiao Yi found that the doctor had disappeared.

"He ran away!" said Dr. Lin in frustration.

Xiao Yi shook his head, "No, he let us go on purpose."

"Why?"

"Because..." Xiao Yi's eyes became deep, "He wanted us to see this."

Dr. Lin followed Xiao Yi's gaze and gasped. Amidst the ruins, a vast underground passage emerged. Deep within the passage, countless incubators could be vaguely seen, seemingly filled with humanoid creatures...

Xiao Yi escaped the trap deliberately set by the doctor, his heart filled with confusion and anxiety. What was the doctor's motive? Why had he deliberately let him go? What larger conspiracy was hidden behind this? During his escape, Xiao Yi stumbled upon a hidden underground passage. As he cautiously entered, he was overwhelmed by an old, eerie atmosphere. A faint light flickered on the passage's walls, illuminating the surrounding mottled walls, which appeared to still bear strange symbols and bloodstains. As he went deeper, Xiao Yi discovered that the underground passages stretched in all directions, connecting to numerous vast rooms and facilities. Each room contained a variety of advanced yet eerie instruments, as well as sealed glass containers filled with unidentified liquids, within which vague shapes could be seen suspended. In one of the rooms, Xiao Yi witnessed a horrifying scene. Within a vast incubator, humanoid creatures were immersed. Their body forms differed slightly from those of ordinary humans, their skin possessing an unusual sheen and their limbs being unevenly proportioned. Yet, they exuded a faint, powerful aura. Could these humanoid creatures be the more perfect experimental subjects the doctor had spoken of? Xiao Yi realized that the scope of the Crimson Cross was far greater than he had imagined. This underground facility was likely just the tip of the iceberg, and the doctor's scheme might be a vast conspiracy capable of subverting the world. Just as Xiao Yi was about to explore further, he suddenly heard heavy footsteps and a clamor of voices in the distance. He quickly hid behind a large instrument, daring not to breathe. He saw a group of men in black uniforms, armed and bearing the Crimson Cross symbol on their arms, swiftly passing. As they retreated into the distance, Xiao Yi knew he had to leave as soon as possible. He had to share this astonishing discovery with the outside world and stop the doctor's conspiracy. However, he had barely made it far when he discovered that the passage ahead was blocked by an iron gate. A red light flashed on the control panel next to it, clearly requiring special authorization to open. Xiao Yi was anxious and searched for other ways out, but found that the surrounding passages were either locked or blocked by massive obstacles. Just as he was feeling hopeless, he suddenly remembered a computer he had seen in a room before. Perhaps it contained a map of the underground facility and a method to unlock the door. Xiao Yi cautiously returned to the room, turned on the computer, and began frantically searching for information. After some effort, he finally found the map and the code to unlock the door. Just as he was about to leave, a video call request suddenly popped up on the computer screen. The caller ID was from the doctor. Xiao Yi hesitated, but finally answered the call. The doctor's face appeared on the screen, with a strange smile: "Xiao Yi, you are indeed very clever to find this place. But do you think you can escape so easily? This is all part of my plan." Xiao Yi glared at the doctor angrily: "What exactly do you want? These test subjects, and this underground facility? What is your conspiracy?" The doctor laughed: "I want to create a brand new world, a world ruled by more perfect creatures. And you, Xiao Yi, will be part of my plan." With that, the doctor hung up the call. Xiao Yi knew he had to leave as soon as possible. He had to find a way to stop the doctor. He followed the instructions on the map, entered the code to unlock the door, and successfully opened the iron gate. However, when he walked out of the passage, he found himself surrounded by a group of people from the Crimson Cross...
