For three years, she endured being a doormat, only to lose her life at the end.
Reborn ten days before the apocalypse, she cut ties with him! She reclaimed all the gifts she gave to t...
With the base becoming increasingly populated, the previously designated perimeter of the walled area was becoming too crowded. Lu Sheng had just relocated the outer wall and gate to the edge of the safe zone before going to bed last night.
It's only been one night, and so many uninvited guests have come to bang on her door to congratulate her on the successful renovation.
Although there are enough streetlights to provide illumination within the base, the endless darkness beyond the light range is still chilling.
The heavy iron gate slammed shut with tremendous force, and countless rotting, charred mouths emitted hoarse, panting sounds in the darkness.
The scene resembled the Imperial Zoo during summer or winter vacation, except that this time Lu Sheng and her companions were rare animals protected by a fence, while the zombies outside the wall were tourists who had bought tickets to visit.
"elder sister……"
Zhao Wenyuan is about 1.75 meters tall. He is pale and thin, and has a peculiar morbid beauty.
His voice still retained a youthful quality, carrying a hint of naivety, "These zombies seem a bit stronger than before."
As if to prove his point, the strength-type zombies outside the door increased the force in their hands. Several solid tree stumps, as thick as an adult's waist, appeared out of nowhere, and the zombies together rammed them against the base gate.
Lu Sheng and the others looked at each other in bewilderment.
"These zombies can actually use tools..." Sun Tiantian looked at the zombie team outside the door in surprise, who were chanting slogans in unison.
Xu Yi pushed up his glasses. "Humans also gradually learned to use various tools in the process of evolution in order to hunt for food. It seems that the ability to learn and create has also begun to emerge in the zombie community."
Lu Sheng looked up at the dark, waterfall-like night sky.
The sun and stars were now obscured by the darkness of night, leaving only a dim blood moon in the sky. The scarlet full moon hung eerily in the air, emitting a faint halo.
The zombies in front of them were clearly different from those they had encountered before.
Before the eternal night, zombies that reach the third level will develop a tiny bit of self-awareness, but this is limited to choosing ingredients that are more suitable for the physique of Chinese zombie babies.
At the fourth and fifth tiers, they were only slightly better at sensing pain and reacting. Even the sixth-tier zombies they had just dealt with at the Oasis Group had an intelligence level no different from that of a two-year-old child.
However, the horde of zombies blocking the entrance, although only at the fourth level, clearly possessed independent thinking abilities and could not be viewed with the same perspective as before.
"Brother, can you open the door? I'm so cold..."
As soon as Zhao Wenyuan finished speaking, a soft, delicate female voice came from outside the door.
A pale little hand waved in Xu Yi's direction from outside the wall, standing out conspicuously amidst the ferocious horde of corpses.
"Holy crap, could there be some living people mixed in with the zombie horde?"
Zhang Xiaojuan's expression changed drastically, and she nervously peeked towards the direction of the small hand.
"Does your intelligence automatically drop when you hear a woman's voice?! With so many zombies, even if there were any living people left, they would have been devoured long ago!" Han Rui crossed her arms and stomped her feet angrily.
Zhang Xiaojuan was a kind-hearted person by nature. Although she knew that the probability of there being any survivors among the zombie horde was very small, she still subconsciously took a few steps toward the direction of the sound.
"Brother... Uncle, can you open the door? I'm so scared, it's so cold in here..."
A young girl, around eighteen or nineteen years old, was weeping amidst the horde of corpses, her eyes fixed on Zhang Xiaojuan as she leaned against the fence.
The girl wore a tattered school uniform, and her skin was so white it was almost translucent and reflective, making her stand out starkly among the rotting, stinking zombies.
Zhang Xiaojuan paused for a moment, her complicated gaze slowly shifting to the girl's face.
His muscles seemed to suddenly lose control, and his whole body felt limp, making him want to get closer to the fence.
"Uncle, I know you're the best, please help me, okay?"
The girl in the school uniform beamed with delight and couldn't help but coax her softly, even extending her finger to make a hooking gesture.
"Hey! What's wrong with you!" Han Rui was so angry she was practically fuming. She threw a handful of huge edamame beans, which hit Zhang Xiaojuan hard. "Can't you have any self-control?!"
Lu Sheng coldly watched as Zhang Xiaojuan slowly dragged her feet to the fence.
As long as they remain within the base area, all residents are absolutely safe. She wasn't worried about Zhang Xiaojuan getting into trouble; instead, she wanted to see what tricks these zombies on the night of the blood moon could pull.
As Zhang Xiaojuan drew closer, the girl in the school uniform suddenly began to softly sing an old song.
The melody was familiar and catchy; even everyone present could hum along.
But the singing seemed to have a hypnotic power; apart from Lu Sheng and Xu Yi, the rest of the people quickly felt a strong sense of fatigue.
Sun Tiantian's eyelids were so heavy they were practically drooping. She finally perked up a little after pressing a bag of ice pucks against her temples.
The little sunflower excitedly jumped onto Lu Sheng's shoulder, its little leaves waving and thrashing about, eager to show off its singing voice.
No one is allowed to stand out in the singing field on its territory!
The sunflower that loves to sing will never give up!
While Sun Tiantian was distributing ice hockey to everyone, Zhang Xiaojuan had unknowingly stood in front of the fence.
They were separated from the horde of hungry corpses outside the wall by only a thin wall.
"Uncle, please let me in quickly, okay?"
The girl in the school uniform looked anxious and couldn't help but raise her voice, looking at Zhang Xiaojuan with eagerness.
"good."
Zhang Xiaojuan nodded blankly, looking like a walking corpse.
He slowly pressed himself against the fence, his deep phoenix eyes gazing intently at the schoolgirl in uniform just a step away.
The girl's eyes widened with anticipation.
"Fuck you! Call him brother and me uncle! I'll stab you to death, you idiot!"
