Jiang Chan transmigrated from the apocalypse into a melodramatic novel filled with continuous natural disasters: drought, floods, locust plagues, epidemics... and even interwoven with various stran...
Jiang Chan panicked. She looked around, her gaze landing on a connection port on the control panel. She remembered that Alyssa could easily access human networks. She pointed sharply at the port, then at the screen, then clasped her hands together beside her face, making a "sleeping" gesture, followed by a "smiling" expression: "Look! This! It's fun! It's exciting!"
Alyssa tilted her enormous head, the points of light in her compound eyes seeming to be calculating rapidly. A moment later, a tentacle tentatively reached towards the console's interface, its flexible tip engaging. The screen flickered, displaying countless complex data streams and star charts.
"Not this!" Jiang Chan waved her hands frantically, almost stamping her feet in frustration. She desperately tried to recall the most harmless and non-threatening things in the human world. Suddenly, an image flashed through her mind:
Those kinds of TV dramas that are rampant in the human world, with exaggerated plots and full of family squabbles and emotional entanglements! Yes! That's it! Harmless enough, "peaceful" enough, and most importantly, they often feature pets!
"Look!" Jiang Chan emphasized again, drawing a square in the air with her hands to represent the screen, and then making various exaggerated expressions:
Crying, laughing, surprised, angry, and imitating a puppy wagging its tail and a cat rubbing against someone, "Many people! Many things! There are furry things! It's called... soap opera!"
“Soap opera…?” Alyssa emitted a series of extremely strange buzzing sounds, mimicking human speech, sounding like rusty gears grinding together. Her compound eyes shone brightly, clearly showing great interest in this new term. Her tentacles moved rapidly on the control panel.
The data stream on the screen vanished instantly, replaced by a chaotic, rapidly flashing image:
The scene shifts between human city streets, billboards, and news clips. Finally, the camera focuses on a scene so bright it's almost blinding: in a lavishly decorated living room, several humans are arguing dramatically, accompanied by loud music and even louder crying in the background.
It's exactly that kind of typical, melodramatic family soap opera!
In the scene, a heavily made-up woman is crying and shouting at a man, "You don't love me at all! You only have her in your heart!"
The man clutched his head in pain, crying out, "No! Let me explain!"
An old woman nearby was pounding her chest and stamping her feet, shouting, "What a tragedy!"
Jiang Chan: "..."
Alyssa's massive body remained motionless, her enormous compound eyes fixed intently on the screen, the points of light within them seemingly drawn by a magnet, firmly locked onto the exaggerated expressions on the human faces. She emitted a very faint, confused buzzing sound, like an old radio receiving a faulty signal.
Jiang Chan felt a bit desperate. This beginning was too explosive, a far cry from the heartwarming and adorable pet movie she had envisioned.
She steeled herself, moved closer to the edge of the cage, pointed at the woman on the screen who was crying hysterically, and said to Alyssa, "Fighting. Not good." Then she pointed to the man clutching his head, "Pain."
Alyssa's tentacles nodded slightly, indicating that she understood. But the light in her compound eyes showed no sign of moving away; instead, she stared even more intently.
The scene shifts, and the arguing couple runs out of the living room. The camera focuses on a neat doghouse in the corner of the living room, where a fluffy golden retriever lies, tilting its head and looking in the direction its owner disappeared, letting out a soft "woof," its eyes wet and full of innocence.
"Fluffy!" Jiang Chan immediately seized the opportunity, raising her voice eight octaves as she pointed at the golden retriever, "Look! Fluffy! So! Comfortable!"
Alyssa's compound eyes instantly shifted from "confusion" to "surprise"! Her massive body even leaned forward slightly, and one of her tentacles instinctively reached towards the screen, as if trying to pet the virtual golden retriever. She emitted a series of high-frequency buzzing sounds, clearly filled with pleasure!
“Yes! Fluffy! Great!” Jiang Chan quickly pressed her advantage. She pointed to the golden retriever, then to herself, and made a hugging gesture, her face showing an extremely comfortable expression: “Hug. Comfortable. Happy.”
She pointed in the direction the arguing couple had run off in, and shook her head vigorously: "Fighting. Painful. Bad."
Alyssa looked at the innocent golden retriever on the screen, then at Jiang Chan in the cage trying her best to "perform" comfort and happiness, and then at the direction in which the arguing couple on the screen disappeared.
Her compound eyes moved back and forth between several points, the flashing of the light points sounding like a fierce clash of thoughts. She made a few unintelligible "gurgling" sounds.
Just then, the golden retriever on the screen stood up, walked to the sofa, picked up a plush toy that had fallen to the floor, put it back on the sofa, and then lay back down in its bed, closing its eyes contentedly. The background music also changed to a soothing piano piece.
Jiang Chan immediately pointed to this heartwarming scene: "Quiet. Good. Comfortable."
Elisa's tentacles swayed gently in the air, emitting a soft, resonant sound.
She seemed... to understand a little? At least, she showed far more interest in the golden retriever than in the war scenes.
In the following days, "soap opera time" became Alyssa's unwavering schedule. She even had the worker insects "grow" a more comfortable, cushion-like platform next to Jiang Chan's cage using biogel, so that Jiang Chan could "watch the show" with her. Jiang Chan became the most hardworking "simultaneous interpreter" and "peace ideology promoter."
Whenever there's a conflict, argument, or even a fight scene in the plot, Jiang Chan immediately frowns, points at the screen, and says, "Fighting. Bad. Painful." Then she makes a painful expression.
Whenever there's a heartwarming scene of family dinners, friends gatherings, or pets being adorable, she immediately beams and points at the screen: "Peace. Good. Comfortable. Fluffy. Good." At the same time, she doesn't forget to rub against Alyssa's already very soft whiskers, amplifying the pleasure brought by "fluffy."
