Chapter 166: The goal is clear: eliminate the "pet"!

Alyssa watched, completely absorbed. She hummed with confusion at the complex family relationships; her antennae trembled with excitement at the exaggerated betrayals; but whenever the golden retriever or other adorable pets appeared, she would emit that unique, high-frequency, joyful hum, and the light in her compound eyes would become unusually soft.

She even started imitating Jiang Chan's comments, clumsily making a buzzing sound like "fuzzy...good" when she saw cute pets. Watching the show was the most relaxed and least "queen-like" moment in the entire insect hive.

Jiang Chan's "peaceful evolution" seemed to be progressing smoothly. She could even sense that Alyssa's attitude towards Kazzak was becoming increasingly indifferent. When Kazzak came to report on the battle situation, Alyssa would often impatiently tap the ground with her tentacles, or simply turn her compound eyes toward the screen playing a soap opera.

Kazak stood in the shadows, his iron-gray carapace gleaming coldly under the blue light of the laboratory. He looked at the queen, engrossed in the lowly entertainments of humans, and then at the human pet in the cage, pointing at a cat rolling around on the screen, grinning with an air of "innocence."

His carapace-covered face was expressionless, but deep within his cold, compound eyes, a chilling killing intent, like that of a venomous snake, was gathering. This pet had become a huge threat that had to be eliminated.

Danger comes silently.

That day, Alyssa was captivated by an extremely melodramatic "real and fake heiress" reunion plot, and the light spots in her compound eyes flickered intensely with the protagonist's cries.

Jiang Chan sat on the cushion next to her, her attention somewhat distracted. Just then, a muffled, continuous rumbling sound came from deep within the insect hive, and the ground and walls began to tremble slightly.

It was an energy fluctuation common deep within the lair. The light in the laboratory instantly became unstable, flickering on and off, and some instruments emitted beeping alarms.

The vibrations grew stronger, even shaking the soft cushion beneath Jiang Chan. The nutrient solution bottle next to the cage tipped over, spilling pale green liquid all over the floor. Suddenly, a glowing vine hanging from Jiang Chan's head snapped with a "crack," landing at her feet with sparks, startling her!

Just then, the archway made of biological tissue at the entrance of the laboratory made a soft "click" amidst the violent vibrations. It seemed that some biological structure of the door lock had been loosened by the vibrations, and the door slid open a crack!

Jiang Chan's heart sank, and a chill crept up her spine. This tremor... came at such a perfect time! She instinctively looked towards the spot where Kazak usually stood, but it was empty.

Almost simultaneously, a foul, highly corrosive odor rushed in through the crack in the door! A berserk insectoid creature, much larger than the worker insects, with a sickly gray-green carapace and crimson compound eyes, roared into the laboratory like a runaway bulldozer, smashing through the sliding archway!

Its target was extremely clear: Jiang Chan!
