The berserk insectoid creature's mouth was wide open, dripping with dark green, acidic saliva. Its thick forelimbs were raised high, and the sharp claws at their ends gleamed with a deadly cold light in the dim light!
It let out a piercing shriek, its massive body carrying a foul stench, and pounced straight at Jiang Chan, who had nowhere to escape on the cushion!
Jiang Chan's mind went blank, and her blood froze instantly. She didn't even have time to scream; she could only watch helplessly as the menacing claws and fanged maw rapidly enlarged in her vision! The shadow of death instantly loomed over her!
"Eliza—!!!"
Driven by the instinct for survival, she mustered all her strength and screamed the name of the only person who might save her! Her voice was distorted and pierced by extreme fear, so sharp it seemed to tear through the air!
Elisa, engrossed in the story, suddenly turned around!
Her enormous compound eyes reflected the ferocious figure of the raging insectoid creature lunging at Jiang Chan, as well as the horrified expression on Jiang Chan's face, twisted to the extreme, a mixture of despair and pleading!
Time seemed to stretch out infinitely.
Alyssa's massive body froze instantly. The shimmering lights, immersed in the soap opera plot, were like the surface of a lake tossed with a pebble; they first solidified, then erupted with an unprecedented, pure, and violent terror!
It wasn't anger, nor authority; it was pure, primal terror that erupted from her—the terror of a socially awkward tech geek—when something precious was about to be destroyed!
"Buzz—!!!"
An indescribable, terrifying scream, so sharp it surpassed the limits of human hearing, exploded from the depths of Alyssa's body! It wasn't a command, nor a threat; it was a pure mental shock!
An invisible force, visible to the naked eye and carrying high-frequency trembling ripples, spread out from her center like a tsunami!
All the lights in the laboratory went out instantly and then blazed back on! All the glass containers shattered simultaneously! Those precious specimens were reduced to dust in the shockwave!
The berserk insectoid creature, pouncing in mid-air with its claws almost touching Jiang Chan's hair, froze instantly! The mad light in its crimson compound eyes solidified, and then its entire massive body was gripped tightly by an invisible giant hand—and then—
"puff!"
A muffled explosion! The ferocious gray-green insectoid didn't even have time to scream before it was crushed in mid-air by an invisible force less than half a meter away from Jiang Chan! Its hard carapace, foul-smelling bodily fluids, and shattered internal organs exploded like a smashed tomato!
Dark green acid and fragments of flesh and blood splattered out like a torrential rain!
However, when these filthy substances splashed towards Jiang Chan, they were blocked and repelled by another gentle, invisible force. Jiang Chan curled up on the cushion, completely unharmed.
That's a mental barrier!
Jiang Chan collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it would explode, her whole body drenched in cold sweat. She stared blankly at the worm corpse that had been instantly crushed into a pulp, then looked up ahead.
Alyssa's massive body stood between her and the shattered archway. The queen's purplish-black carapace gleamed coldly in the blinding light. Her head was slightly lowered, and her enormous compound eyes, no longer holding the gentle light of curiosity or confusion, now surged with a chilling, abyssal rage that Jiang Chan had never seen before!
At the laboratory entrance, Kazzak, who had rushed over upon hearing the news, had just appeared at the broken gap in the archway. His iron-gray armor was still stained with a few specks of splattered filth. His cold compound eyes met Queen Alyssa's compound eyes, which burned with silent rage.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment. In the entire shattered laboratory, only the faint hissing sound of the overloaded instruments and the heavy stench of blood and decay filled the air.
Kazak's body tensed up very slightly, almost imperceptibly.
“Your Majesty,” he said in a deep, metallic voice, “this was an accident.”
Alyssa's tentacles snapped straight up, their tips gleaming with a pale purple light—a signal that she was about to unleash a mental attack. She emitted a sharp, threatening buzzing sound, "An accident?"
Kazak leaned forward slightly, his voice laced with sarcasm: "A berserk insect has gone out of control. You know, lower insects are always unstable."
Jiang Chan huddled behind Alyssa, staring into Kazzak's eyes. She clearly saw that when Kazzak mentioned "Rampaging Insects," the light in his compound eyes flickered slightly—a sign that he was lying! This wasn't an accident at all; it was Kazzak's doing!
She suddenly remembered a plot from a soap opera: the villain always used "accidents" to cover up their conspiracy, while the protagonist would step in and expose them. She gritted her teeth, crawled over, grabbed one of Alyssa's tentacles, and whispered, "It wasn't an accident. Kazzak... is bad."
Alyssa's body stiffened. She looked down at Jiang Chan, the anger in her compound eyes fading slightly, replaced by a hint of confusion.
Jiang Chan pointed at Kazak, then at the insect corpses on the ground, her voice trembling but firm: "He sent the insects to kill me. Like...like a villain in a drama." She imitated the expression of a villain in a soap opera, frowning and turning down at the corners of her mouth, "Bad. Trying to hurt us."
Alyssa's tentacles trembled slightly. She turned to look at Kazzak, the light in her compound eyes shifting from confusion to anger.
Kazak's voice turned cold: "Your Majesty, you have been bewitched by this inferior being." He pointed at Jiang Chan, "She is a human spy, trying to sabotage our war!"
Jiang Chan's heart skipped a beat. She could roughly guess what the other person meant, and quickly grabbed Alyssa's tentacles, tightening her grip: "No! I am... I am yours..."
