She paused, then looked at the Queen with the most sincere eyes. "She's your friend. Like family in a play."
“Family?” Alyssa hummed softly, with a slight ripple. She thought of the protective families in soap operas, and of Jiang Chan’s words, “Family = Protection = Peace.” Her tentacles slowly drooped, their tips gently touching Jiang Chan’s hand.
That means "I believe in you".
Kazak's compound eyes narrowed. He suddenly took a step forward, his voice laced with threat: "Your Majesty, don't forget who is commanding the war, who is maintaining order in the Hive! Without me, you simply cannot rule!"
Alyssa's body straightened abruptly. Her compound eyes shone brightly, and the instruments throughout the laboratory began to vibrate. She emitted a series of majestic, authoritative hums, "I am the Queen."
Kazak's body stiffened. He hadn't expected Alyssa to contradict him so directly. A murderous glint flashed in his compound eyes, and he suddenly lunged at Jiang Chan. He wanted to kill this human who had bewitched the queen first!
However, the moment he moved, Alyssa's mental attack struck. An invisible force, like a giant hand, pressed down firmly on his body. Kazzak let out a painful roar, cracks appearing on his carapace, from which a pale green fluid seeped out.
“Your Majesty…you…” he struggled, his voice filled with disbelief.
Alyssa's tentacles pointed to the soap opera still playing on the screen, in which a father was standing in front of his child, fighting against the villain.
She emitted a soft yet resolute hum: "Protect. Family. Peace."
Jiang Chan's eyes lit up. She crawled over, grabbed Alyssa's tentacles, and shouted, "Yes! Protect our families, no war!"
Alyssa's compound eyes turned towards Jiang Chan, and the light softened. Her tentacles gently curled Jiang Chan's hand and placed it on her compound eyes, signifying "I understand."
As Kazzak watched this scene, the killing intent in his eyes intensified. He struggled to stand up, but Alyssa's mental power grew stronger and stronger, and his body began to slowly sink into the fleshy membrane of the ground.
"You think you've won?" he said in a low, resentful voice. "There are still many people in the hive who support me! Without war, the Zerg will perish!"
Alyssa's mental power suddenly intensified. Kazak let out a scream as his body sank completely into the fleshy membrane, only his head remaining above the surface. His compound eyes stared at Jiang Chan, filled with resentment: "You'll regret this, human."
Alyssa flicked her tentacles. Several loyal royal guards emerged from the shadows, dragging Kazzak's body away from the laboratory.
Silence returned to the laboratory. Alyssa turned to Jiang Chan, her massive body crouching slightly, the light in her compound eyes filled with tenderness. Her tentacles gently touched Jiang Chan's face, emitting a soft hum: "It's alright."
Jiang Chan looked at the Queen, "Thank you... thank you..."
Alyssa's tentacles gently circled Jiang Chan, as if embracing her. She emitted a soft, comforting hum, as if saying, "You're welcome."
Over the next few days, Alyssa began purging Kazzak's influence. She dismissed Kazzak from all his posts and appointed several loyal, research-focused Zerg to key positions. She also had the workers dismantle the war facilities in the hive and replace them with research equipment and bio-gardens.
Jiang Chan became Alyssa's "advisor." She taught the Queen to speak human language and to understand the meanings of "peace," "friends," and "family." Alyssa learned quickly; she could even utter simple human words: "family...friends."
"Peace...good."
One evening, Alyssa and Jiang Chan sat together on the laboratory platform, watching a soap opera on the screen. In the scene, a family sat around the dining table, eating dinner and chatting with laughter.
Alyssa's tentacles gently touched Jiang Chan's hand, emitting a soft hum: "Peace?"
Jiang Chan turned to look at the Queen and said with a smile, "Yes, peace."
Alyssa's compound eyes shone with a gentle light. Her tentacles pointed to the family on the screen, then to herself and Jiang Chan, emitting a series of buzzing sounds: "We...family?"
Jiang Chan grasped Alyssa's tentacles, nodded, and said, "Yes, we are family."
Alyssa's tentacles swayed gently, emitting a series of cheerful buzzes. Her compound eyes looked at the family on the screen, then at Jiang Chan, her eyes filled with hope.
However, at that moment, the laboratory door was suddenly pushed open. A Guardian Insect stood in the doorway, emitting a series of rapid buzzes: "Your Majesty, Kazzak... has escaped!"
Jiang Chan turned her head, looking at Alyssa with a puzzled expression. The light in the queen's compound eyes shifted from gentleness to anger. Her tentacles straightened, emitting a series of majestic hums: "Chase!"
Then she emitted a series of high-frequency, sharp buzzing sounds, no longer a command, but a mental shriek that pierced through the insect hive.
The palace's fleshy walls lit up with dark red, vein-like patterns. Deep within the lair, a muffled hum seemed to emanate from a colossal beast awakened. In the distance, countless heavy, swift footsteps merged into a dull rumble of thunder, surging towards the laboratory. The royal guards, loyal to the Queen, were gathering.
Jiang Chan's heart sank to the bottom. Kazak had escaped. This war maniac would never let it go. He was like a poisonous bomb buried underground, ready to explode at any moment. She had just seen a glimmer of peace, only to have it shrouded in heavy clouds again. The war was not over.
In the days that followed, the atmosphere in the insect hive was like a taut bowstring. Alyssa almost stopped watching soap operas. She locked herself deep inside the restored laboratory, and Jiang Chan was allowed to follow her in.
