Arcane: I Built Mechs in Piltover

Li Lin transmigrated to Piltover on the continent of Valoran. He originally thought his life would pass by uneventfully, until he became an employee of the Kiramman family and discovered he possess...

Chapter 425: Ominous Blade Katarina

Ten minutes ago, at the Hexgate Tower in the southern part of Piltover.

Mel and his assistant Irola stayed in the hall waiting for the airship, occasionally glancing at the Levik wall clock hanging on the wall.

"Isn't Jace here yet?"

Mel, dressed in a formal split-leg slim-fitting dress, kept her eyes fixed on the elevator entrance in the empty lobby.

Since the countries in Runeterra are not stable nowadays, the manned airships used for transportation in Piltover have always been rarely ridden by people, and the Hexgate is used most of the time to transport merchants' goods to all parts of the world.

However, today, in order to be on the safe side, Mel used his power as a councillor to temporarily block the manned waiting tower to prevent any outsiders from disturbing him.

The person she was going to meet was an extremely important person, a relative she hadn't seen for more than ten years.

"Mr. Tallis went out in a hurry last night. The night watchman said that he was heading towards the college." Irola responded cautiously.

She always felt that Mel today was less easygoing and more solemn than before, which put a lot of pressure on her.

"Hmm... He left me a note last night saying Li Lin had something urgent to tell him. It seems to be a new invention." Mel's eyes were a little out of focus, and he said absentmindedly, "Maybe he ran into a problem and couldn't get away."

Yiluola pursed her lips, knowing that the best response now was silence, and even if she spoke she didn't know what to say, so she said nothing.

About ten minutes later, with the humming sound of hextech-powered airships coming from outside the waiting hall, three airships with completely different appearances, but all looking solemn and heavy, clearly different from Piltover's light airships, were landing and preparing to dock at the edge of the open-air platform.

The metal body of the airship is engraved with the double-edged battle axe logo representing Noxus, and on the hatch of the airship there is also a logo similar to the one of the Midalda family in Piltover, with a slender four-pointed star and two layers of geometric bottom edges.

This is the family crest of the Medarda branch of Noxus.

“They’re coming…”

Yiluola seemed a little flustered, but Mel was completely different from her. His pale amber eyes showed only solemnity.

When the first two airships came to a steady stop, a large amount of white gas gushed out of the hatches, almost covering half of the ship.

With a crisp "clang" sound of metal colliding with the marble platform, the telescopic escalator touched the ground, and a bearded man with a long-handled battle axe, bare arms, and wearing standard plate armor that could only defend the front, walked down from the first airship.

Behind him and on another airship, two rows of Noxian soldiers wearing standard plate armor, holding uniform long-handled sharp blades, with red turbans on their heads and metal masks on their faces ran down and stood on both sides of the platform road in a welcoming formation.

Mel took a deep breath, his eyes fixed on the third airship whose door had not yet opened, and frowned, "Let's go."

Just as she and Yilola left their seats and took a few steps, the elevator behind them started moving, making a sound of metal friction.

Mel looked back in surprise. When the elevator reached the top floor, he saw Jace standing there.

"Mel!"

Jace waved at her, and when the elevator stopped and the fence opened, he immediately trotted over to the two of them, "Sorry, I'm late..."

He nodded to Elora, then exchanged glances with Mel.

"It's okay. Actually, you came just in time. They just arrived too."

Mel forced a rather forced smile, and even the dull-witted Jace could see the worry deep in her eyes.

"Who is this person who came back? Why do you worry so much?"

As the three of them walked towards the open-air platform, Jace looked at the Noxian soldiers holding weapons and couldn't help but frowned slightly.

"It seems that the visiting guest is of high status."

Piltover has always maintained neutrality and does not prohibit foreign soldiers from passing through. As long as they do not enter the main city area, they can stay at the dock for a short time, but a considerable fee will be charged.

Jayce was the inventor of the Hexgate and had absolute authority over it, and he had never allowed Noxian soldiers to use the device for teleportation.

If Mel hadn't been here today, the other party might have had a close relationship with her. Jace was ready to call Officer Grayson and also call Mrs. Karina to resolve this "diplomatic" matter.

Irola, who was following the two of them, glanced at Jace hesitantly, then shifted her gaze to Mel's profile.

When they reached the entrance of the hall and were about to approach the Noxian soldiers, Mel sighed heavily and responded in a low voice: "Actually... the person visiting this time is my mother."

"Mother?!" Jace couldn't help but exclaim, attracting the attention of the soldiers who were not yet able to find their footing nearby.

"Anbesa Midalda."

Mel took a deep breath and said, "My great-grandfather was a brother to the head of the Midalda family in the Upper City. Unfortunately, they had a falling out over the Sun Gate Sea Gate, so the whole family moved to Noxus to start over.

"Later, my grandfather, who married into the family, made great military achievements for Noxus, which enabled our branch of the Medarda family to move from being a simple business family into the political and military fields, becoming warlords and politicians.

"More than thirty years ago, my grandfather died in battle and passed the position of head of the family to my mother, who was only a teenager at the time..."

Unconsciously, Meier's mind once again flashed back to a battlefield where her mother had once taken her:

It was a kingdom that dared to resist Noxus, but was eventually easily defeated by the main battle group led by Anbessa.
