Chapter Six: Fear (tushumi.cc)

At the very back of the group were two people: one was shirtless, with a wolf tattooed on his arm and holding a watermelon knife; the other was slightly overweight, wearing a vest and carrying a water pipe.

They were about three or four meters behind the main group. They had heard the conversation in front of them, but they didn't pay any attention to it.

Andy Lau is such a coward, always acting all mysterious. It's not like we're going to a cemetery. Even if we were, there are over a dozen of them, what are we afraid of?

The shirtless man was occasionally using a watermelon knife to chop the corn leaves that stretched onto the cement road. As he was whispering and laughing with the fat man while turning his head to chop the leaves for fun, a pair of amber-colored beastly eyes came into his view.

The shirtless man froze instantly. The fat man next to him saw his reaction and was wondering what was going on when he felt a strong force coming from his left.

"Ugh..."

The shirtless man only had time to let out a half-grown scream of shock before he saw the owner of the beastly eyes in the cornfield pounce out faster than he could react, his two giant claws gleaming with cold light pressing down on his and the fat man's faces.

Before the two could react, Garurumon dragged them away on the concrete road with one claw each, then leaped into the back of the cucumber shed on the other side.

The whole process was as fast as lightning; apart from the shirtless man's half-suppressed scream of fear, there was only a slight rustling sound.

The people in front of them heard the shirtless man's voice and all turned around to look, but they didn't find anything except that the shirtless man and the fat man had disappeared.

Xiang Biao walked a few steps from the front to the back of the line.

"Er Gou? Xiao Bing?"

No one responded to him.

The group scanned the crop fields on both sides of the road, but apart from the rustling of leaves in the night wind, there was no other sound.

Everyone was on edge.

The bespectacled man, Hua Zai, was so frightened that he was trembling all over. The others were no better off than him, and even Xiang Biao was starting to consider backing out.

It's an intuition, like a mouse being stared at by a cobra, with goosebumps rising from every pore.

The sudden, sharp sound startled everyone, causing them to jump up and look back in the direction they had been heading.

There, a water pipe had fallen onto the cement floor and was rolling around. The noise we just heard came from it, but where was its owner?

Wang Dong, who should have been there, with his buzz cut, was nowhere to be seen.

"Ah..." came another half-scream.

The group, who had just turned their heads to look at Wang Dong's water pipe, hadn't even recovered from their fear when the two people standing not far behind Xiang Biao disappeared again.

Xiang Biao swore he didn't hear any other sound at all, only the rustling of leaves in the wind.

"Squeeze together quickly!" Xiang Biao shouted in a panic, cold sweat pouring down his face, not caring whether the people in the other house could hear him.

The remaining people quickly gathered around, pressing close to those around them.

One, two, three... seven

As Andy Lau counted the number of people, he swallowed hard.

"Biao... Brother Biao, there are only seven left. We're... we're missing eight... eight brothers..."

The hairs on the heads of everyone else stood on end.

They knew perfectly well that five people were missing, but they had no idea how the other three had disappeared.

ghost!

This terrifying word came to everyone's mind.

Just as they were about to give up and were about to shout for help and call the police, something truly terrifying and despairing happened.

In the soybean field not far from them, a huge dark figure slowly stood up and walked step by step onto the cement road.

Its exposed fangs were pale and frightening, its sharp claws gleamed with a cold light, and its fluffy and majestic mane swayed slightly in the night breeze.

Garuru, the Lion-Faced King Kong, finally made his official appearance before them.

Xiang Biao and his group were like dumbfounded geese with their necks strangled, staring dumbfounded at the terrifying monster in front of them, unable to utter a word.

"A...a monster!" The bespectacled man, Andy Lau, was the first to react and the first to run away.

He didn't care about the boss, the mission, or the money; his life was the most important thing. He ran towards the van outside the fence without a second thought.

But after running for only a few seconds, Hua Zi felt a blur before his eyes, followed by a powerful blow to his chest, and then his vision went black as he lost consciousness.

Xiang Biao and the others only saw Hua Zi run a few steps before the lion-like monster transformed into a black shadow and caught up with him, striking him in the chest with a palm and a claw.

Hua Zi, weighing over 100 pounds, flew backwards as if weightless into the nearby crop field and disappeared without a sound.

No one dared to run away, and Garuru approached them step by step.

Only then did they truly see the leather jacket and stretch pants Garuru was wearing, and Xiang Biao and the others had only one thought in their minds.

It really is a monster!

...

Not long after Garuru disappeared from sight, Wu You found an observation mode in the system bar. After selecting it, it was as if he watched the whole process from Garuru's first-person perspective. This feeling was really wonderful, and he also fully felt the insignificance of ordinary people.

If Garuru's claws had been just a few centimeters off course, it could have resulted in several people being disemboweled.

As his first alchemical creature, Garurumon's performance completely exceeded Wu You's expectations.

This is an art of hunting, subjecting the prey to both physical and psychological pressure until they face death in despair. Of course, with Wu You's orders, Garuru did not kill them; the previous few had only fainted, though they would have some marks left on their bodies.

...

Xiang Biao was terrified. Ignoring his crime of breaking into a private residence with a weapon in the middle of the night, he quietly raised his phone to call the police. He had already prayed to all sorts of gods and deities, including Zeus, the Western God, and other religious gods.

But he immediately stopped moving, because the monster was staring at him—no, staring straight at his right hand, at the phone on it.

Xiang Biao had a feeling that he would die the moment he pressed the number.

"Thud!" The phone fell to the ground, causing the already highly tense subordinates to jump.

"Let's attack together! This monster had to ambush us, which means it's afraid of us too. We'll only survive if we attack together, otherwise we'll just be eaten!" Xiang Biao shouted to his men, sweating profusely.

"Do you intend to die without even putting up a fight?"

Driven by intense fear, the remaining six men, except for Xiang Biao, either trembled or went mad as they raised their weapons and charged at Garuru, brandishing machetes and water pipes and smashing them down on Garuru.

Xiang Biao didn't rush up with them at all. Instead, he turned around and ran towards Wu You's house. There was a river behind it. He could either jump into the river to run or hide in Wu's old house, as long as he didn't have to face the monster.

As the five approached Garuru, their faces pale and frantic, Garuru remained motionless, its terrifying beastly eyes fixed on Xiang Biao.

"Roar..." A wild lion's roar erupted.

An explosive sonic wave struck, freezing the five people in place before they all clutched their ears in pain and fainted.

The equipment in his hands fell to the ground with a clatter.

All Xiang Biao could hear was a buzzing sound, as if a bomb had exploded nearby.

He was less than 50 meters away from Wu You's old house, but his body was already swaying.

In his blurred vision, the door of a three-story old tile-roofed house not far away opened, and Wu You was standing there calmly looking at him.

Xiang Biao lost his footing and collapsed to his knees. At that moment, a dark shadow blocked the moonlight around him.

He turned his head in despair to look behind him.

"Ah..." A scream echoed far and wide.
