Chapter 16 Some competitions, high-speed competitions, high...
In the first speed contest between the magic paper airplane and the little Kryptonian, the Kryptonian won! Enid said she would increase the speed of the airplane in the future, and, not to be outdone, added some runes to the magic paper airplane on the spot, starting a second speed contest... Obviously, she almost won.
"Hey...you're really amazing, I'll definitely beat you next time!" Enid puffed out her cheeks and said righteously, making little Jonathan feel a little threatened. "Then next time I'll fly even faster!"
Enid nodded, then turned to Damian with great interest. "Would you like to give it a try? I can teach you how to pilot it. It's very simple, and I think you should be able to learn it easily." As she spoke, Enid took out a large stack of tutorials on piloting magical flying devices (human version).
"It couldn't be simpler."
With a relaxed expression, Damian confidently took over control after studying the complicated tutorial for a short while. Stepping into the control seat where Enid had been sitting, Damian finally understood the structure of the control room described in the book. After comparing the two, Damian easily learned how to control the guy.
"Generally, it requires magical energy, but I've done a simple energy conversion that can convert solar energy into other energy sources. It's just a pity that it can't be used at night because the solar energy level is lower, but solar energy is the only energy source that can be converted."
No sooner had Enid finished speaking than the plane suddenly began to veer wildly, as Damian started driving the paper airplane like a race car. Enid was so frightened that she almost fell off the plane, but thankfully she was wearing a seatbelt. Of course, little Jonathan was quick enough to pull her back.
"Thanks, okay Damian, you seem to be driving faster than me?"
"Foolish! You had a faster option up there, why didn't you use it?"
"Because... I'm a little afraid of heights, and I've never driven that fast before. This is the fastest I've ever driven. If I go any faster, I'm afraid I'll throw up... Sorry!"
Enid wasn't entirely frightened, but Damian had indeed been flying too fast. However, after she finished speaking, the plane's speed suddenly decreased, and Jonathan realized why, even though he had clearly controlled his speed during his first flight, he had still exceeded the limit by a significant margin. Damian didn't comment on this, but instead said, "Let me race him later!" He was clearly eager to try, and Jonathan was also quite excited.
I think it's fine!
"How about I be the referee?! I'll have Lyra with me."
Enid, always eager for excitement, gradually revealed her lively side. She excitedly raised her hand to declare that she wanted to be the referee. Damian and Jonathan Jr. clearly did not object, so the competition was decided. They chose the starting point, with Enid as the finish line, and Lyra patrolled the sky to ensure the fairness of the competition.
At this point, Bruce, who was in the distance, had actually intended to call a stop at the beginning, but he was obviously stopped by Clark, who said that he would watch over them and make sure nothing happened to them. Bruce could only acquiesce to this.
Damian participated in the first race between the magic paper airplane and the little Kryptonian, and the result was a draw!
"Wow, that's amazing! I never expected you to be able to drive so fast. Come to think of it, I made this car, but it feels like you drive it more skillfully than I do," Enid was genuinely surprised that Damian could drive it so proficiently. She was quite astonished, and then, seeing his expression that said "it's only natural," she couldn't help but laugh. "As a reward for driving so well, I can give this car to you."
"A draw means no winner... but I'll accept it."
Damian saw the shrunken paper airplane lying obediently in his palm. He turned his head slightly away, not looking at her smiling face. However, little Jonathan was eager to try it out too, and he and Damian started to playfully fight. At this moment, Enid had just received a message from Dick, so she turned her head to check the message.
The sun was just beginning to set, its rays painting the clouds red, and the clouds, tinged with the colors of the sunset, were drifting aimlessly. Suddenly, she longed to see the stars of Brudhaven.
Dick received Enid's location message, along with the picture she had just taken. It showed Damian sitting on a paper airplane in the sunset with little Jonathan beside him. Little Jonathan even gave a peace sign to the camera. Dick saved the photo with a smile and sent a message to Enid.
Dick: Congratulations on learning how to take photos. It looks great. Hmm, what competition is this?
Enid: Barbara taught me how to take pictures! It was a speed showdown between a magical plane and a Kryptonian! I never knew a plane could be so fast, so I gave it to Damian.
Dick: That's really enviable.
Enid: Do you want a plane too? I don't have a second one yet, but you can come and help me. I can teach you how to make one.
Dick: That sounds great. Can we put the Nightwing logo on the plane?
Enid's ears turned red for some reason, and she silently replied with an "okay." Shortly after the message was sent, a speeding motorcycle blocked part of the light, and she could only see the sudden appearance of blue and a smile in front of her. All she could do was return a bright smile.
"Sorry to have kept you waiting."
"I won't have to wait long, so I'll say goodbye to Damian and the others first."
After saying goodbye to Damian and Jonathan, Enid got on the back of Dick's motorcycle. Lyra landed on Damian's shoulder and watched Enid hug Dick's strong waist and lean against his back. She anxiously snuggled up to Damian, but Damian didn't say anything. All that could be heard was the raven's unpleasant cawing.
“TT, Grayson will bring her back safely.”
Lyra said it wasn't her safety that was a concern, but something else... Well, she also noticed Enid's expectant look, so she could only remain silent and refrain from further bothering Damian for help. However, whether Damian ultimately helped was another matter entirely.
Meanwhile, Enid, who was already speeding along the highway, could almost hear his powerful heartbeat through his incredibly muscular back. Her hand was on his waist, so she could feel his abdominal muscles under the thin layer of his clothes. She spoke up somewhat shyly.
"Is it still a long time?"
"Hmm, we'll be there soon. What's wrong? Are you a little cold?"
"No, it's just... I'm wondering if, when I appeared back then, people were genuinely looking forward to my appearance? Or rather, was my appearance a good thing?"
Enid seemed to realize that she was rambling a bit, but this emotion was squeezed out here, and she couldn't hide or swallow it. She could only release it. She was happy on the plane and looking forward to the camping trip. She was also happy about the impromptu night trip, but she was still afraid.
"Of course, you'll always be family, won't you? Not just me, everyone likes you, and there's nothing wrong with that. We welcome you here, absolutely."
Dick's tone was firm, and even though she couldn't see his face, she could see the tenderness in his blue eyes through his voice. This made her think of another blue-eyed man, and her voice began to soften.
"And what about Father... was he too?"
"Of course, if you want to know, do you need me to give him a call? Hey, I bet he'd be happy to just tell you directly."
Startled, Enid shook her head instantly, then realized he couldn't see her, so she raised her voice, "No need to bother. Actually, I'm not doubting anything. I'm just... well, I'm doubting myself. My mother said that my father has his own family and children, and I shouldn't get involved. She said he wouldn't welcome my sudden appearance. When was she not lying to me? That's what I thought back then."
She wasn't sure what she was expecting, but she knew that loving her wasn't their responsibility or obligation. However, she did feel that everyone was accepting her. The airplane speed race, teaching her how to take pictures and use a microwave, her father's supplementary card, and so on—she couldn't count all the little details. But Enid was still a little scared. Could she really do it?
"So I know that things are different now than they were back then, but... I'm sorry, I'm not doubting you. Well, I don't know what to say... I'm sorry."
Enid tried to bury her face in his back, her body heat slowly seeping through the fabric, along with some of Dick's courage. He deliberately amplified his voice, and at the same time, the gentle and earnest tone within it was also amplified.
“No need to apologize, listen to Fia, you don’t need to apologize to us. You know, Bruce loves all his children, we all know that, and you are his child too, so your arrival is only natural, and you don’t need to feel sorry for it, okay?”
Dick didn't intend to comment on her mother's words, or rather, he had guessed why or what the situation was. That was something she might need to figure out for herself, but Dick knew she would soon. So he told her in a very sincere voice that she was their family, and always would be.
"Hello...Am I a spoilsport?" She was about to apologize when she remembered what Dick had just said. She stopped abruptly, swallowed the words she was about to say, and looked up at the direction of the wind, somewhat hesitant.
"No, actually I'm glad you told me. At least I know how to comfort you or tell you. I can tell you with certainty that Bruce loves you, and so do I."
Dick's last "Me too" was very soft, but Enid still heard it. Although the wind was loud and noisy, they were all obedient and avoided blowing any of the words, so she could hear it clearly.
"Dick, I actually still owe you an apology. Back then, I promised to..."
"Hey, no need to apologize. Maybe you can give me a chance to pursue you again."
He interrupted her, not really wanting to hear it, or rather, he had anticipated something, but there was nothing to be sad or upset about. Dick couldn't deny one thing: he liked her, or rather, loved her, from the very beginning. It was hard to explain why, but he didn't want her to agree or refuse all at once.
Is this a good idea?
"Of course."
Enid gently pressed her face against his back. "Can I still call you brother? I like calling you that." A fleeting darkness crossed Dick's eyes, but he quickly remembered something and continued with a smile, "It's nothing, but there are still differences between brothers."
"the difference…?"
"The difference is, all I want is for you to hug me."
Enid suddenly understood his unspoken meaning, and the force with which she held him tightened abruptly. The starlight and moonlight were incredibly beautiful at that moment, turning the churning clouds into waves kissing the distant mountain peaks. Her voice was slightly muffled, transmitted through the fabric of her clothes.
"Of course I know! You still owe me a sunset."

[Shy][Shy][Shy]
The romance plot made great progress, but then it slowed down a bit because I needed my brother to help me out physically; I had him busy in Broodhaven, otherwise my sister would be pursued by him lol.
From this moment on, she truly believed that they were family and that she had truly decided to stay. Yes, before this, she wanted to finish building the forest and run away, haha. It wasn't because she didn't like them, but because she was always worried that she shouldn't stay here and cause them trouble. But now she felt relieved.
But the real trouble is yet to come.
