Chapter 64 Praise for the Failed Potion: The potion failed, so praise...

The morning light, ruffled by the gale in the blue fog, was as hazy as the merciless raindrops about to fall, and an indistinct chill crept up the tower's stairs, just like many Gotham mornings, the clouds so heavy they seemed ready to fall at any moment.

An excessively empty and hollow soul can only drive humans out of bed and turn them into mindless, zombie-like beings. Enid could only glimpse a few traces of life in the not-yet-fully-awakened human bodies, slowly being awakened and then becoming drowsy again.

The blue liquid rising from the crucible was about to merge and kiss with the morning mist. She could only try to see through the excessively ambiguous vapor, but what she wanted to grasp turned into a blank field of vision. She couldn't grasp it. The vapor disappeared, and only the dry air remained in the crucible.

"Looks like Ah Fu doesn't have to say I'm the one in the family who stays up the most at night anymore."

"Father?!"

She turned around abruptly and saw Bruce knocking on the door of the potions room with a helpless smile. He could see the weariness hidden in her emerald green eyes, just like all of them. He noticed a faint scent of herbs and fire in the air, and before it dissipated, he could even detect a hint of frustration.

“Actually, when I was your age, I also had my failures. It’s not a big deal.” Bruce reached out and patted Enid’s head. He could read her expressions so well, it was like the simplest picture-based writing, requiring no detective skills. “You’ve done well enough. After all, this is a long-lost potion. You don’t need to rush.”

He knew what Enid was doing. The potion books mentioned potions of hope and healing, and mentioned some magical things. But obviously, the more precious something is, the harder it is to pass on. So the recipes were lost. What Enid was doing was replicating or reconstructing them.

“Father…” Enid paused, wanting to say something but not knowing how, so she reached out and hugged Bruce. “You’re amazing too, Father. You’re the most amazing person I’ve ever met!”

Bruce chuckled slightly. He thought he would be one of them, but it turned out there wasn't one. Out of curiosity, Enid asked the question, blinking sheepishly.

“There is no one else.” Enid’s expression was still somewhat serious. She had once admired and worshipped Niaf and was proud of Niaf, but when faced with death, she was awakened to the fact that she had also deceived them.

Beyond all these things, and everything else, she realized that no one in the world was more worthy of her admiration than Bruce. This was a reality she had witnessed firsthand, far more thrilling than any fabricated historical account—not a story. Incidentally, she and Dick went together when she changed her middle name.

“Are you sure?” Dick said.

“Yes, I’m sure, because we don’t need Niaf to prove us. I would rather keep Grady than Niaf, so that my mother’s surname will remain in my name and in the names of my descendants.”

After Dick repeatedly confirmed her feelings, they went to change her name. The procedure was actually not complicated at all, and it was even more convenient because she was now Wayne. She felt that the reason she had the surname Wayne was because she admired her father very much; he was the greatest person she had ever met.

Dick agreed with this.

"But I bet Bruce wouldn't agree with you. He never thinks he's great; he's just doing what he wants to do." And so is he.

Dick's blue eyes were brighter than the blue mist, and when she met Bruce's ocean-like eyes, the emotions that had suddenly surfaced because of the failed potion were gently wiped away, ending the playback of memories in her mind. She tidied her slightly messy hair.

"I am not the most powerful person."

Dick's words from her memory overlapped with Bruce's voice at this moment, and a feeling of "it was expected" suddenly rose in Enid's heart. She shook her head.

“My father is the most amazing person in my eyes… um,” she said shyly, “so, would it be a little strange if I asked everyone and you for help with this?”

She also wanted to share her daily life, potions, and alchemy with everyone. Bruce seemed to realize what she wanted to say and patted her on the head lightly.

“I think Tim will be very interested, and so will I, of course. However, whether it can be used in actual combat still needs to be tested clinically. After all, the physical conditions and allergies that previous potions were designed for are still uncertain.” Bruce did not reject the suggestion; he never denied Enid’s abilities. “Are you ready now?”

Bruce sat down in a chair next to her, keeping eye level with Enid so that she could easily see her eyes and face without having to look up at him. His tone was very relaxed, as if they were just having a casual chat.

“Yes, Father.” After saying that, Enid seemed to remember something, “I want to join you… no, it should be us. But in order to prevent Afu from being troubled by everyone’s schedule, I can only assist you. But when I graduate, I will definitely show everyone what a druid is.”

Bruce could roughly predict what would happen. He smiled and agreed with Enid's decision. It wasn't impulsive, but rather a well-thought-out plan, and it was pretty much what he had expected.

"Very good, but it's still the same, you need to pass, which means you need to pass your graduation exam."

"Father, you should know that my graduation exam was a group exam."

"I know."

Having received an affirmative answer from her father, Enid smiled and gave him a big hug before walking toward the door that wasn't closed. The faint light dispersed the blue morning mist; at least Gotham wasn't raining and was still sunny.

Bruce followed Enid down the stairs. As soon as they reached the restaurant, they heard Alfred's voice. Bruce guessed what was going on, and sure enough, Alfred had already mentioned him.

“It is an honor that our Miss Fia has finally remembered that she should have breakfast in the morning. It seems that it was the right thing for Mr. Bruce to go and wake you up, wasn’t it?”

Enid, who had promised Afu she wouldn't stay up late anymore, at least not before exams, felt extremely guilty. She looked at Dick, who gave her a helpless look, but silently poured her a cup of warm sweet milk and spoke with a smile.

“Ah Fu, I believe Fia didn’t do it on purpose. Why don’t we consider keeping her out of the potion room?”

Enid was stunned. She thought Dick was trying to save her, but instead he was adding fuel to the fire. As a result, the decision was approved by most people, and even Bruce began to support it.

“I agree with Dick,” Bruce said slowly after swallowing his food. “Obviously, you have exams coming up soon, and you need to be in top form. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to start your morning recitations in an imperfect state, would you?”

“Okay… Father, you’re right.” Enid slumped onto the table, her mouth agape. Dick cut her bread into pieces and then brought it to her lips with a fork. Enid took a bite, and when her mouth was empty, she continued, “I’ve been spending too much time on potions lately. I haven’t been reading any other books.”

"What's your first-year schedule?" Tim suddenly asked, and the next second he received a full message from Enid. Tim glanced at it and nodded. "I'll plan out your coursework for you. You can refer to this later. I'll also include the arrangements for using the potions room. Damian and Naya will be supervising you."

As she spoke, the kitten leaped out of the shadows, stood high up in a spot where it wouldn't shed fur on the dining table, looked down at everyone, and nodded elegantly.

"Very good, so Timmy, when did you reach an agreement with Naya?"

“Not long ago,” Tim paused for a moment, “when you were working tirelessly in the potions room and keeping Naya out.”

Enid had no choice but to admit they were right, and she immediately raised her hands in surrender.

"I was wrong, I will definitely follow this from now on!" She glanced at the form Tim sent her. To be honest, it was a very reasonable arrangement, and it even took into account the content that would be covered in the upcoming exam (she had probably told Tim about the types of questions). It couldn't be more perfect, and her eyes lit up.

"That's awesome, Timmy! You're the best!"

"Really? I thought you would say that Bruce is the best."

“I clearly heard you say, Fia, that Dick is the best.”

It seems like... something went wrong?
