There are dozens of trees of each kind, in all sizes. Xu Lin wanted to store the saplings in the space, but since the big trees have deep roots and lush foliage, she decided to leave them in the mountains.

Looking at the tree full of fruit, Xu Lin estimated that it would be ready for harvest in about a month. She decided to leave it here to continue growing and harvest the saplings first.

They took out tree-digging tools from their spatial storage and, together with Zhou Pin, began digging up saplings. No matter what kind of tree it was, they dug them all out and stored them in their spatial storage.

The dogs received imported canned food as a reward from Xu Lin, and after happily finishing it, they went on a treasure hunt to exchange for more treats.

The two worked until 5 p.m., digging up a total of 10 walnut seedlings, 15 hawthorn seedlings, 19 chestnut seedlings, 16 pine seedlings, as well as several grape, blueberry, apple, apricot, plum, and cherry seedlings.

This grove is mostly filled with walnut and chestnut trees, with relatively few fruit trees, so I only dug up a few scattered ones.

Back home, Zhou Pin cooked dinner while Xu Lin organized photos and kept a journal.

For dinner, we had shiitake mushrooms and bok choy, cold black fungus salad, stir-fried bracken, and chicken and mushroom soup—all delicious local specialties.

"The walnuts and chestnuts on the mountain won't ripen for a while. Tomorrow, we'll get the yard ready first, then dig up saplings on the mountain, go fishing in the sea, and finally pick the fruit," Xu Lin said while eating.

"Okay, you've been very happy since you came here."

"Of course I'm happy! I can collect supplies, grow flowers and trees, be with the people I love, and have three meals a day. How wonderful!"

The next morning, Xu Lin unusually got up before Zhou Pin and made a Western-style breakfast: steak, pasta, and milk.

After finishing breakfast, the two continued their work, working until 6 p.m. before finally completing all the projects. Now, they have pigs, chickens, and ducks in the backyard, as well as a toilet and warehouse. In the front yard, they keep bees, grow flowers and grapes, and have bamboo, a stone table, and a path, creating a charming rural landscape.

"Make sure you take all of these with you when you leave," Xu Lin said, sitting under the grape trellis.

"Don't worry, you can definitely take the cabin with you."

"Tomorrow we'll go dig up saplings and gather wild vegetables."

And so, the two of them spent more than half a month digging up saplings and wild vegetables, soaking in hot springs several times, and going out to sea twice, until the fruit on the trees finally ripened.

That morning, Zhou Pin made breakfast, Xu Lin fed the pigs, chickens and ducks, and then hurriedly ate breakfast before leaving the house.

Arriving at the walnut tree halfway up the mountain, Xu Lin took out a long bamboo pole from her spatial storage and gave it to Zhou Pin. Zhou Pin took the bamboo pole and tapped the branches from the inside out.

This was something Xu Lin had heard from someone before: use a bamboo pole or a flexible cork pole to knock the branches down from the inside out, and don't hit them randomly, otherwise you will damage the buds and affect the yield the following year.

Zhou Pin cracked the walnuts while Xu Lin, wearing a helmet and gloves, picked them up below. They quickly filled a basket. The two worked all morning and harvested a total of 12 baskets of walnuts. Xu Lin and Zhou Pin took turns swinging the bamboo pole. The work itself wasn't tiring, but constantly looking up strained their necks.

"Let's dig sweet potatoes this afternoon. I saw some sweet potato seedlings on the ground here. Let's do some work together," Xu Lin said.

“It is indeed a combination of work and rest,” Zhou Pin said with a smile.

The two ate boxed lunches at noon and started digging sweet potatoes in the afternoon.

Xu Lin cut the sweet potato vines off with a sickle and set them aside, while Zhou Pin dug up the sweet potatoes with a hoe behind her.

This job is not easy either; it requires constantly bending over, facing the loess soil with your back to the sky.

"That's why adults used to scare people when they were kids by saying that if you don't study hard, you'll end up farming in the countryside. It's really exhausting!" Xu Lin said, rubbing her lower back.
