Chapter 57 Don’t Offend the Supervisor
While Qin Yinghuai was struggling to deal with his mother's bombardment, Ji Shian wrapped himself in the quilt and pretended to be offline.
When Qin Yinghuai finished washing up and returned to the bed, he saw that the person who had been kicking his thigh from time to time had a red face in her sleep. A smile flashed in his eyes, and he reached out to lift a corner of his clothes for her to breathe.
Then he sat quietly on the bed and looked at her for a long time, his eyes gentle and no one knew what he was thinking.
The screen of the phone she placed on the pillow lit up. When Qin Yinghuai reached out to take it, he accidentally saw a message prompt. It was Gu Qianmo secretly asking her when she would return and whether she would reply.
Qin Yinghuai hesitated for a moment, then took out his cell phone and sent a message to Gu Qianmo, saying that Ji Shian was tired from playing and fell asleep without noticing.
In the room diagonally opposite, Gu Qianmo recalled the time before Ji Shian left and took a breath: Wow, it's only been twenty minutes, isn't it a bit fast?
Ji Shian vaguely remembered that this was not her room. When Qin Yinghuai carefully lifted the quilt by a corner, she suddenly opened her eyes and looked in. Qin Yinghuai felt an inexplicable sense of emptiness in his heart.
Just as he was hesitating whether to speak, Ji Shian closed his eyes and leaned his head over, pressing it into the gap between the two pillows, rubbing his neck against the pillows.
Qin Yinghuai's heart suddenly softened, touched by her cuteness. He then quietly changed her pillow to a thinner one so her head wouldn't be constantly resting on it.
When he woke up the next day, Ji Shian was still a little dazed under the covers. His feet felt cold, and he subconsciously rubbed them towards the heat source nearby. Then he stepped on something hard.
Ji Shian's eyes were still not focused, and he stomped his feet twice more in a daze.
What the hell?
His toes slid upwards, following the heat, when someone suddenly grabbed his ankle. Ji Shian regained consciousness a little, and turned his head to see Qin Yinghuai's eyes still tightly closed.
She realized belatedly that she had been trapped in the soft and comfortable bed last night without knowing what was happening.
They had kissed and cuddled before, but they had never shared a bed like this before. Ji Shian gently nudged him, not feeling nervous or awkward, but rather a bit happy as if it was natural.
So he closed his eyes, raised his hand and pinched the flesh on the inside of Qin Yinghuai's arm, which felt comfortable, and touched his slippery arm several times.
Qin Yinghuai got up last night to hold an impromptu meeting and didn't call Ji Shian. He was very sleepy now, so he let her do whatever she wanted.
Ji Shian felt warm all over and fell asleep again.
By the time both of them woke up, it was almost noon. Qin Yinghuai looked at the time in the center of the mobile phone screen solemnly. The curtains in the room were still drawn, and he felt a little lost as to what day it was.
Ji Shian sat there with his hair sticking up, hugging the quilt, looking stupid, his eyes fixed, and his head feeling a little swollen.
She asked seriously, "Do I have a cold or a fever?"
Qin Yinghuai looked at her face after hearing this, then stretched out his palm and pressed it against her forehead, diagnosing: "You simply slept too much and are now sleepy."
Qin Yinghuai said, "Go wash your face."
Ji Shian followed the command like a little robot, made an "oh" sound, and slowly crawled under the bed.
Today is the last day of the exchange meeting, but the two of them had already slept through the closing ceremony, so they simply finished their lunch slowly and prepared to return.
Before leaving, Ji Shian said goodbye to his parents. Lin Chanyi smiled and told her to balance work and rest and to slack off when she needed to. Before they parted, a look of hesitation flashed across her face.
Ji Shian blinked, wondering if there was some explosive fake news again.
Thinking of this, she said with a heroic look on her face: "Mom, I can accept whatever you say."
Lin Chanyi laughed: "Don't worry, there's no groundless news. I just want to ask, when are you free, do you want to go home with Mom to visit?"
Lin Chanyi is a very gentle mother who respects her wishes. Ji Shian also likes chatting with her. The relationship between the two is progressing rapidly. Ji Shian communicates with her more naturally than with Ross.
Ji Shian suddenly realized: "Oh, are you going back to see your relatives?"
Lin Chanyi's eyes were filled with gentle smiles: "Yes, go home and take a look at your original room, and then open your presents."
"As for those relatives, I don't know them very well." Lin Chanyi said, "If you want to meet them, then meet them. If you don't want to meet them, forget it. Send them a photo of you later so they know what you look like. Just make sure they don't fail to recognize you when they meet."
That's great. Ji Shian was a little touched. It was great not to have to pretend to be familiar with relatives and exchange pleasantries. Thinking of the gift the other party mentioned, Ji Shian's eyes lit up: "Do I have a gift?"
Lin Chanyi's heart ached, but her expression remained gentle and tolerant: "Of course, baby. Since you were born, mom and dad have prepared gifts for you on every festival, big or small, and every birthday."
Ji Shian was stunned.
Lin Chanyi smiled and hugged her daughter, who had been lost and found again. "So you have to find a suitable reason to take a few more days off and come back to slowly dismantle it."
Ji Shian felt that her reaction seemed to be slowing down. She nodded slowly, but her eyes were very serious: "Okay."
As the departure time neared, Lin Chanyi glanced at her watch and then accompanied Ross to the airport. Watching Qin Yinghuai and Ji Shian walk away together, Lin Chanyi suddenly said, "Why don't we return to China to develop our careers?"
Ross's eyes were filled with reluctance, his mind a jumble of thoughts. He was impulsive when he heard his wife's proposal. In the distance, Ji Shian, not knowing what Qin Yinghuai had said, suddenly smiled brightly. He stared blankly for a moment, "An An won't agree."
Although they had been together for quite a while, Ross knew a lot of people. After a brief period of fear and panic, he quickly figured out Ji Shian's temperament.
He held his wife's hand and said with some helplessness and pride: "An An doesn't like us to throw away everything for her and revolve around her. She really hopes that we can live according to our own wishes."
Lin Chanyi said calmly, "But I want to be closer to my baby now."
Ross nodded in agreement: "Indeed."
Lin Chanyi clapped her hands and said, "China has been developing very well recently. Even for the sake of the company's better development, we should pay some attention to China."
Ross thought about the slightly pedantic but not unkind senior executives at the company and felt that dealing with them was just a matter of time and energy. Thinking about the time he could have dinner with Ji Shian more often, he agreed: "That way, Anan won't have to worry so much."
Ji Shian, who was working on her tablet, knew nothing about this, and even if she knew, she probably wouldn't say anything. Sometimes she couldn't help but reflect on her own personality. Who did she inherit this stubbornness and tendency to assume things ahead of time, which caused her so much worry?
Could it be that she thinks she speaks her mind for so many years, but is actually a tsundere at heart?
Qin Yinghuai asked, "What would you like to drink?"
She said without hesitation: "Try a little bit of each."
The system shook its head, feeling that the host's understanding of itself was still slightly off: [I'd like to try a little bit too.]
*
Ji Shian later discussed this with Qin Yinghuai and felt that the world power might like all kinds of grand, Mary Sue scenes that disregarded the protagonist's embarrassment, or that the energy produced by those routine and slightly tacky scenes must be much higher than the original plot, so that the original work can change itself.
After discussion, the two decided to bring Ji Dongran in to avoid accidents like the one on the beach in China.
Ji Dongran was particularly happy to receive the children's help message: "Exaggerated and classic plot design, right? I'm an expert in this!"
After connecting to the system, she read the entire plot, walked around the room thoughtfully for a few times, and then made a "leave it to me" gesture to the two of them.
"Give me a few days to prepare, and then I'll ask you to go back and meet your parents."
Seeing her excited expression, Ji Shian and Qin Yinghuai momentarily wondered if they had been impulsive. Qin Yinghuai reminded them, "The fewer onlookers, the better. Zhou Xingzhi, Gu Rong, and Gu Qianmo are all insiders, so they can make arrangements."
What he actually meant was, except for the few of you who knew about it, forget it for everyone else. If the scene was smaller, it wouldn't be impossible for him and Ji Shian to act closer to the script.
How to choose between long-term social death in a small scale and instant social death in a large scale is a difficult problem.
Ji Shian solemnly changed into serious clothes, his eyes fell on his feet, and he lifted one foot to gently shake his slippers.
Three, two, one, go.
The slippers flipped 360 degrees in the air, and finally faced up with the back side facing up.
Ji Shian announced the result: "The chosen one's scene instantly led to social demise."
As a result, I really threw it out, but I always wanted to run in the opposite direction.
Qin Yinghuai pondered for two seconds, "You remembered it wrong. If it faces up, it means a small-scale social death."
Ji Dongran couldn't understand their self-deception, but she was at least a veteran.
"Don't worry, I will definitely take care of it for you. By then, there won't be anyone you don't know. And no one will call you grandpa."
The last half of the sentence was said while looking at Qin Yinghuai. After giving the assurance, Qin Yinghuai was obviously relieved, which made Ji Shian confused.
After saying goodbye to Ji Dongran, even though there was no one else in the room, she still quietly lowered her voice and approached him: "What's wrong with Grandpa Qin? You feel so depressed when he mentions you."
Qin Yinghuai didn't mention the inexplicable flying pot, but just reminded her: "Malatang."
Ji Shian miraculously understood half of it: "Did I reveal the truth or did you reveal the truth?"
Qin Yinghuai sighed: "You're overthinking it. Ji Tezhu has always done things flawlessly and is pure and spotless in the eyes of the elders."
Ji Shian placed the contract he was about to sign on his desk and said, "I always feel like your words are full of sarcasm."
Qin Yinghuai paused for a second and said decisively: "I had dinner with Lu Li two days ago."
Ji Shian understood that the fussy CEO who kept waiting for her sister to redeem him was a fussy CEO. But she still wanted to play with Qin Yinghuai, for no other reason than she was just having fun. She pretended to sigh, "Men's friendship comes so quickly."
The contracts had all been reviewed and confirmed in advance. Qin Yinghuai's hands were constantly moving, signing with the speed of an automated production factory. Hearing this, he said softly, "It's not as fast as you can strike up a sworn brotherhood with someone on the street."
Ji Shian thought of Yun Yuan, the community bull who pounced on him with shining eyes. She praised herself without any burden: "Yes, after all, I am infinitely charming."
Qin Yinghuai stopped writing, stood up and gently touched the side of her face.
Ji Shian frowned, his tone no different from that of an overseer: "What are you doing if you don't work properly?"
Qin Yinghuai withdrew his hand and said regretfully: "Let me see if gold can fall from your face, so that you can get rich without working."
Ji Shian didn't win, turned around and brought back a dozen documents that he had originally planned to deal with tomorrow, and smiled slightly: "Boss Qin, please get to work."
Qin Yinghuai estimated his usual speed in processing documents, glanced at the time, and felt that Ji Shian seemed to be saying, "Director Qin, please get going."
Qin Yinghuai: "Perhaps... I still have a chance to reorganize my words?"
Ji Shian smiled but said nothing.
