She suddenly looked at Yun Zhan, who lay on the ground, breathless and confused, and then at the glaring red alarm light on the terminal. The huge decision was like two heavy mountains, pressing down on her shoulders!

Wen Shifei's nails dug deep into her palms, piercing the skin and oozing blood. The immense pain almost tore her apart! On one side were her companions, whose lives were uncertain and who had just regained a trace of their "humanity." On the other side was a critical battlefield, with the survival of the entire Lower Town at stake!

There is no time to hesitate!

A gleam of desperate determination flashed in her eyes! She ripped off the lining of her relatively intact protective suit, tearing it into strips with all her might. Quickly and clumsily, she wrapped them around the wound on Yun Zhan's broken arm, trying to slow the horrific bleeding. Her movements were rough, yet filled with unmistakable urgency.

"Yun Zhan! Listen!" She cupped his cold cheeks, forcing his pained, dazed eyes to look at her. Her voice was hoarse but remarkably clear, like a final command, "Hold on! Wait for me here! I swear! I will come back and take you away! Wait for me alive!"

She gave him one last, deep look, a look filled with unspeakable guilt, trust, and a desperate vow! Then, she abruptly stood up, no longer looking at the faint metallic figure on the ground. She turned and rushed towards the edge of the huge crater left by the explosion! That was the fastest path to the surface!

Without the slightest hesitation, she leaped into the twisted metal pipe hanging from the edge of the pit like a moth to a flame, and using her hands and feet, she climbed up as fast as she could!

Below, Yun Zhan lay in the cold ruins, his distracted gaze struggling to follow the resolute figure as he left. Amidst the chaotic fragments of memory, something seemed to have been deeply touched. Guard... the light... the promise... come back...

He raised his intact right hand with great difficulty and trembling, as if trying to grasp something, but it finally fell down helplessly. Deep in his empty and painful eyes, that faint light of humanity flickered stubbornly in the pain and chaos, like a candle in the wind.

Energy zone, outside the core substation hub.

This place has become a living hell!

The massive hub fortress, constructed of thick concrete and alloy armor, looked as if it had been gnawed by a giant beast! The sturdy exterior walls were covered in charred craters and massive tear marks! Several armor plates had been ripped open by the terrifying explosion, revealing the complex equipment within, billowing with smoke and sparks! The air was filled with the pungent smell of gunpowder, ozone, and the thick stench of blood!

In the open field in front of the fortress, the bodies of the "Firefly" defense force soldiers and the remains of the "Black Scorpion" mercenaries' iconic, hideous, mutated insect-like mechas lay scattered everywhere! The battle was still raging at the core entrance!

"Hold the gap! Hold on!" Li Shuo's roar was like the roar of a wounded tiger! His massive frame blocked the gaping hole in the fortress's main entrance, a heavy miniature cannon ripped from the wreckage of a mecha spewing scorching flames! The massive armor-piercing rounds were like a storm of metal, sending sparks flying and sending the several Black Scorpion mechas rushing in retreating!

But more mechas came pouring in like a tide! They coordinated perfectly, their firepower fierce! The backup power supply inside the fortress had clearly been damaged, and the lighting flickered, with only the glow of explosions and the crimson electronic eyes of the mechas providing an eerie light source. Li Shuo's number of soldiers dwindled, and his ammunition was running low! The defense was crumbling!

"Uncle Li! We can't hold on any longer! There are too many of them!" A soldier, his face covered in blood, dragged his broken leg and crawled to Li Shuo's side, shouting hoarsely, "The backup energy line has been cut off! The fortress's internal defense system is mostly paralyzed! Their next wave of attack... we..."

"We have to hold on even if we can't!" Li Shuo's eyes were bloodshot. He fired a burst of bullets, blowing up a mecha that tried to break in from the side. The flying metal fragments cut a bloody wound on his face. "If the energy hub is lost, the whole city will be destroyed! Pay with your life! Defend—"

Before he finished speaking!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Three thick high-energy particle beams with blue tails, like precise scalpels, instantly shot out from an observation window high up in the fortress behind Li Shuo!

Puff! Puff! Puff!

The three Black Scorpion mechas charging forward, preparing to focus their fire on Li Shuo, had their heavy crimson sensors instantly pierced through! Three blinding bursts of electric sparks erupted! Their massive bodies collapsed to the ground as if paused!

This sudden and precise attack instantly disrupted the offensive rhythm of the "Black Scorpion"!

Li Shuo and the surviving soldiers looked up in astonishment!

Inside the narrow observation window high in the fortress, a figure stood like a rock blending into the shadows! In his hand was a strangely shaped sniper weapon with a long, narrow barrel. A faint blue smoke from the overloaded particle beam still lingered from the muzzle. Despite the distance and dim light, Li Shuo instantly recognized the familiar gray work clothes and the tall, pine-like silhouette!

"Shen Entropy?!" Li Shuo cried out in shock, the huge surprise instantly dispelled his despair!

Lu Cheneng didn't respond. His face looked unusually grim, even pale, in the flickering light. He quickly moved his gun, his icy eyes peering through the sniper scope like a precise hunter, locking onto his target once again!
