Deserted Island Life with the Female Leader

After a disaster, the plane crashed, and my female leader and I were forced to drift to a deserted island. For survival, she voluntarily gave me...

Chapter 52: Finding a Place to Stay

One reason is that this place is too close to the sea, the terrain is low and humid, and it is not very sanitary, and the ebb and flow of the tide is beyond our control; the other reason is that there is no fresh water nearby, which cannot meet our daily needs, so we have to rely on food to obtain our drinking water.

Our first priority right now is to survive. Before that, we must find a more sanitary and convenient place to live.

I briefly explored some areas of the island that day. Before that, I had drawn up a few criteria for choosing a place to stay based on our own circumstances:

The first and most important thing is that there must be fresh water for daily use;

Second, the residence should preferably be a cave, and the cave should preferably be shaded by trees;

Third, it must be able to avoid sudden attacks from wild animals or humans;

Fourth, we must be able to see the sea. In case those people move out on the sea, we can see them clearly, so that we will not lose the best opportunity to rescue others.

We searched separately according to the above conditions, and finally we decided to live in a cave next to a small hill. There was no river or water source in this cave. All our drinking water came from a spring next to the cave.

This cave is very humid. It is not difficult to find it by following the spring. This place can be regarded as the water tower of this island.

I don't know how the three of us are supposed to sleep at night in such an environment, but it's definitely not possible to sleep with our skin pressed against the cave in such humidity.

As the saying goes, mountain people have their own tricks. Since we have chosen the environment, we have the obligation to adapt to it.

I first carved a semicircle on the cave wall, about three meters in radius and six meters in diameter. Then I went to the woods and cut some wood. Along this semicircle, I placed two rows of sturdy stakes. Using rocks, I drove the stakes into the soil like pegs, with the large ends facing downward, about half a meter high, and the tops sharpened. The distance between the two rows of stakes was less than half a meter.

Then, I asked Qin Lan and Jiang Xiaofeng to go and find some white vines. I stretched out the white vines and wrapped them layer by layer between the two rows of wooden stakes along the semicircle, all the way to the top. Then I used some shorter wooden stakes to nail them in the middle of the circle, and wrapped these stakes with white vines one by one according to the original method.

After my work, the wooden piles became very strong. Then I filled them with stones and covered them with weeds and leaves, and the bed was made.

This project took a lot of time and effort, especially the time and effort of cutting thick branches from the woods to make stakes, carrying them to the cave, and hammering them into the soil one by one. After making the bed, I was too exhausted to get up. As for tonight's meals, I entrusted them to Qin Lan and Jiang Xiaofeng.
