Shang Wu was known in circles for having a great life.
When she was down and out, the Cheng Zhou Crown Prince pulled her out of the abyss, doting on and protecting her, unwilling to let her s...
Shang Wu nodded and said nothing more.
The next day, the afternoon sun was shining brightly.
She was revising a design draft in her home studio when her phone rang. She glanced at the screen; it was Lu You.
"A-Wu!"
On the other end of the phone, Lu You's voice was filled with undisguised joy and a hint of urgency, "Are you and Lu Rang free this afternoon? Come and see Xiao Chenyu. He was so much fun today. He just learned how to build a little house with blocks and insists on building the tallest one for his aunt and uncle to see."
Xiao Chenyu is the child that Lu You and Cheng Zhou officially adopted a year ago. He has just turned three years old and is at the most adorable age.
Upon hearing this, Shang Wu's heart immediately softened, and she said with a smile, "Yes, yes, we'll be right there. This little guy is getting sweeter and sweeter."
After hanging up the phone, Shang Wu went to find Lu Rang.
Lu Rang had just finished a video conference when he heard that he was going to the Cheng family to see the children, and his cold and hard expression softened a bit.
He immediately nodded: "Okay, it's been a while since I've seen this child."
After quickly tidying up, the two drove to the Cheng family's house.
The Cheng family villa was filled with warmth and coziness.
On the soft wool carpet, little Chenyu was sticking his little bottom out, earnestly trying to place a triangular block on top of the rickety tower.
Lu You and Cheng Zhou flanked him, protecting him as if afraid his masterpiece would suddenly collapse.
"Wow, our little Chenyu is getting more and more capable!"
Shang Wu walked over with a smile, squatted down, and gently clapped her hands. "That's a really high tower!"
When Xiao Chenyu saw Shang Wu and Lu Rang, he immediately beamed with a bright smile and called out in his childish voice, "Auntie! Uncle!"
He pointed to the tower of blocks as if showing off a treasure.
Lu Rang also showed a rare loving smile and patted his little head.
"great."
Cheng Zhou stood up and gestured for Lu Rang to sit down, his tone filled with pride mixed with a touch of helplessness.
"This kid has so much energy, Lu You and I are almost exhausted by him."
Lu Rang rarely joked with him, "My sister seems to be in great shape. But you, President Cheng, are you having a child late in life and feeling a bit overwhelmed?"
Cheng Zhou immediately clutched his chest dramatically, looking as if a sore spot had been hit.
"Lu Rang! You've gone too far! Who's old? I'm in my prime! Don't give me age anxiety!"
He turned to look at Shang Wu, "Shang Wu, you need to control him!"
Shang Wu and Lu You were both amused by his reaction and burst out laughing.
Although Xiao Chenyu didn't understand what the adults were laughing about, he still giggled along, enjoying the happy atmosphere.
Just then, Shang Wu's phone rang again; this time it was Lu Yuwu calling.
“Mom,” Lu Yuwu’s voice sounded a little nervous and at a loss, “Are you with Dad? Grandpa is here, he’s at home now.”
Shang Wu's smile froze slightly.
"We're together at your aunt's house. Did Grandpa come alone?" Shang Wu asked.
“No,” Lu Yuwu’s voice was even lower, “I also brought a boy I’ve never met before, named Luo Jun. Grandpa asked me to take him upstairs to my study to sit for a while.”
Should we just let our daughter take us upstairs?
Shang Wu and Lu Rang exchanged a glance, both seeing seriousness in each other's eyes.
"Okay, we understand, we'll head back right away."
Shang Wu hung up the phone and briefly explained the situation to Lu You and Cheng Zhou, "The old man suddenly came back with guests, so we have to go back first."
Lu You and Cheng Zhou also realized that something was amiss, and quickly got up to see them off.
Upon returning to the Lu family home, as soon as I entered the living room, I sensed an unusually low atmosphere.
Lu Zheng sat upright on the main sofa. Although he was over sixty, he was ramrod straight, with sharp eyes and an imposing presence.
Sitting next to him was a young man who looked to be about twenty years old, with a handsome face and proper manners.
When the boy saw Lu Rang and Shang Wu enter, he immediately stood up, bowed slightly, and greeted them politely: "Hello, Uncle Lu, hello, Aunt Shang, I am Luo Jun."
"Dad, why didn't you tell us you were coming back? We could have come to pick you up."
Lu Rang stepped forward, his tone respectful, but his eyes questioning.
Lu Zheng waved his hand, his gaze sweeping over his son and daughter-in-law before finally settling on Lu Yuwu, who stood somewhat awkwardly at the top of the stairs.
His voice was loud and clear: "It was a last-minute decision. Let me introduce you. This is Luo Jun. His grandfather and I are sworn brothers. The Luo family is also a prominent family. This child is very outstanding. He has won many awards in international competitions at a young age. His future is limitless."
He paused, his tone leaving no room for doubt: "I brought him back this time so that he could spend more time with Xiaowu. Young people should make more friends."
"Xiao Wu, take Luo Jun to your study to see your paintings, or let him play some of your musical instruments. Don't neglect your guest."
Lu Yuwu looked to her parents for help.
Lu Rang frowned and said directly, "Dad, what do you mean? Xiao Wu has only just started college. Isn't it too early to talk about these things? Besides, matters of the heart should be decided by the child himself."
Lu Zheng's face darkened, and his tone became more serious: "What do you mean 'early'? In our time, there were plenty of women her age who were engaged! I'm doing this for her own good!"
"We know the Luo family well. Luo Jun is outstanding in every way, from appearance to talent. How is he not good enough for her? Are we just going to let her act recklessly and find someone whose background we don't even know?"
"What do you mean by someone whose background is unknown?" Lu Rang's voice also turned cold. "Xiao Wu has her own judgment! No one can arbitrarily arrange her life like this!"
"Me, being arbitrary? I'm her grandfather, I've lived longer than you've eaten rice! I can't judge a person by their appearance!"
Lu Zheng was clearly angry, and the atmosphere in the living room instantly became tense.
