Nuclear fire has burned civilization to ashes, leaving only bones and blood in the wasteland.
I, Lu Zhaoming, an unlucky soul who transmigrated into the apocalypse, found the 'Doomsday Ju...
Lu Zhaoming stepped into the stronghold, travel-worn and still hadn't had a chance to catch his breath, when he noticed that Liu Feng's condition on the hospital bed seemed... a little different.
His previously lifeless face regained a sliver of color, and his breathing became much more even.
"Hey, looks like you're pretty tough, kid." Lu Zhaoming walked to the bedside and teased him carelessly, but secretly he felt relieved.
Su Li's alluring eyes curved into crescent moons as she gently fiddled with the potion in her hand, slowly saying, "His mental resistance is stronger than I imagined. Tsk tsk, such willpower is a rare breed in the wasteland. Perhaps, there's even a chance for him to fully recover."
Upon hearing this, Lu Zhaoming's tense nerves finally relaxed.
He moved a chair, sat down on the edge of the bed, and stared at Liu Feng with a complicated expression.
This was his good brother who had gone through thick and thin with him. If he were to be ruined by those scumbags like Chi Xiao, he would never forgive himself for the rest of his life.
"I'll stay by your side and see if you can make it through." Lu Zhaoming muttered in a low voice, his tone carrying a hint of barely perceptible tenderness.
The night was eerily quiet.
The nights in the wasteland are always full of danger and the unknown, but at this moment, the temporary outpost seemed unusually quiet.
Only the howling wind outside the camp occasionally reminds people that this is a perilous apocalypse.
Lu Zhaoming didn't close his eyes at all. He was intently observing Liu Feng's reaction, afraid of missing any detail.
Time ticked by, until the darkest hour before dawn, when Liu Feng's eyelids suddenly twitched.
Then, he suddenly opened his eyes.
Those eyes were filled with confusion and pain, as if they were going through a violent struggle.
“Zhao…Zhaoming?” Liu Feng’s voice was hoarse and weak, as if it were being squeezed out from deep in his throat.
Lu Zhaoming's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly grasped Liu Feng's hand: "It's me, it's me! How are you feeling?"
Liu Feng's gaze gradually focused, and he frowned painfully, as if trying hard to recall something.
"I...I...I'm sorry..." he stammered, his voice filled with remorse, "I almost...I almost got everyone hurt..."
Lu Zhaoming gently patted his shoulder and comforted him, "It's alright, it's all over now. All you need to do now is get some rest."
"No...no..." Liu Feng shook his head, struggling to get up. "Chi...Chi Xiao...he...he..."
"Shh, don't get excited, speak slowly." Lu Zhaoming pressed Liu Feng down, signaling him to calm down.
Liu Feng took a deep breath, trying to calm himself: "Red Owl...he's going to...launch an attack...they...they..."
Before he could finish speaking, Liu Feng's face suddenly turned pale, and his eyes became unfocused again.
He groaned in pain, and his body began to convulse violently.
"Liu Feng! Liu Feng!" Lu Zhaoming called out anxiously, but Liu Feng seemed to have already lost his hearing.
Just then, Su Li rushed in. She quickly checked Liu Feng's condition, then looked up at Lu Zhaoming and said, "His mental state is very unstable and he needs immediate treatment!"
Lu Zhaoming gritted his teeth and helped Liu Feng back to bed.
He knew that now was not the time to pry for information; saving lives was the priority.
The next morning, a ray of sunlight shone through the dilapidated window and into the makeshift outpost.
"Brother Zhaoming! Brother Zhaoming!"
Little Tiger's loud and boisterous voice broke the tranquility of the early morning.
He scrambled into the room, his face filled with anxiety.
"Old Wolf... Old Wolf... he brought back important intelligence!" Little Tiger said breathlessly.
Lu Zhaoming frowned and quickly asked, "What intelligence?"
"Red Owl! Red Owl is about to launch a full-scale attack! Their target... their target is the largest survivor settlement in the wasteland!" Little Tiger said in one breath, almost collapsing from exhaustion.
Upon hearing this, Lu Zhaoming's expression instantly turned serious.
He quickly walked to the map and carefully studied the terrain of the wasteland.
"It seems that Red Owl is planning to go all in," Lu Zhaoming muttered to himself.
He knew very well that the survivor settlement was one of the few oases in the wasteland, where a large number of survivors and resources were gathered.
If Red Owl really conquers that place, his power will expand greatly.
"Zhaoming, what should we do?" Qinglian also came over, a hint of worry on her face.
Lu Zhaoming took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.
He quickly analyzed the situation and devised a response plan in his mind.
"Qinglian, immediately lead the survivors to the backup safe house. Remember, make sure everyone is safe." Lu Zhaoming decisively issued the order.
"Understood!" Qinglian nodded, turned and left the room.
"Su Li, continue your research on improving the antidote. We need to find a way to completely solve Liu Feng's problem as soon as possible," Lu Zhaoming said to Su Li in a serious tone.
"Don't worry, I will do my best." Su Li nodded, her eyes filled with determination.
“Xiao Hu, you…” Lu Zhaoming turned his head and looked at Xiao Hu standing to the side, hesitating to speak.
"Brother Zhaoming, I want to stay! I want to protect my brother!" Xiaohu seemed to have seen through Lu Zhaoming's thoughts and quickly said.
Lu Zhaoming was silent for a moment, then finally nodded: "Alright, you stay. But remember, you must obey my orders and do not act rashly."
"I understand! Thank you, Brother Zhaoming!" Xiaohu said excitedly.
Lu Zhaoming patted Xiaohu on the shoulder, then turned and left the room.
