[Fantasy + Military Romance + Space + Revenge on Villains + Wife-Pampering + Family Life]
In her previous life, Su Wantang broke off her engagement with a military officer to escape a deceitf...
"Wantang, I have to go now. Please take good care of yourself while you're home alone." Zheng Juan held her hand, reluctant to part.
"Don't worry, your brother Lu is here." Su Wantang smiled and took out a cloth bag from behind her and handed it to her. "This is what I prepared for you. When you get to school, don't skimp on food and clothing, take good care of yourself."
When Zheng Juan opened it, she found several sets of fashionable fabrics inside, along with a sum of money and grain coupons wrapped in oil paper—a considerable amount.
"Sister Wantang, this is too much, I can't accept it!" Zheng Juan quickly declined.
"Take it." Su Wantang stuffed the cloth bag back into her arms, pretending to put on a stern face. "Consider it as my dowry for you, as your older sister. You can return it to me when you become successful in the future."
Zheng Juan's eyes welled up with tears. Knowing this was Su Wantang's way of showing her affection, she didn't refuse any longer and nodded emphatically. "Yes! Sister Wantang, don't worry, I will definitely study hard!"
After seeing Zheng Juan off, Su Wantang stood in the courtyard, feeling a little empty inside.
She returned to her room, and on a whim, entered the spatial dimension.
The space had transformed completely. The medicinal herbs planted back then were now lush and thriving. Ginseng, Ganoderma lucidum, Polygonum multiflorum... these precious herbs, which were priceless elsewhere, grew wildly here, just like ordinary radishes and cabbages.
The fruit trees were laden with heavy fruit, emitting an enticing aroma. The fish and shrimp in the pond were plump and healthy, and the hens in the coop had started laying eggs, each one round and full.
As Su Wantang observed all this, she began to make her own plans.
She needs to find a way to monetize these resources.
At night, after Lu Linchuan fell asleep, Su Wantang quietly got up. She rummaged through the depths of the wardrobe and pulled out a set of dusty old clothes to change into. She then found a headscarf to wrap her hair, smeared soot from the bottom of a pot on her face, looked in the mirror, and only nodded in satisfaction after confirming that even Lu Linchuan wouldn't recognize her standing in front of him.
She took out a wild ginseng of excellent quality, estimated to be a hundred years old, from her spatial storage, carefully wrapped it in cloth, and hid it in her bosom. Then, under the cover of night, she quietly slipped out of the house.
The black market is located in a secluded alley in the west of the city; it's a tacitly accepted gray area.
Su Wantang lowered the brim of her hat, mimicking the mannerisms of those around her, walking hurriedly with wary eyes. The alley was dimly lit, filled with a damp and musty smell; people spoke in hushed tones, and transactions were conducted in the shadows.
She quickly found a thin man who looked like a "middleman".
"Do you have any?" The man glanced at her, his voice hoarse.
Su Wantang nodded, revealing a corner of a cloth wrapped around ginseng from her bosom.
The man's eyes lit up, and he immediately led her to an inconspicuous door in a deeper alley. Inside sat an elderly man in his fifties wearing a long robe and glasses, who looked like a traditional Chinese medicine doctor.
The old man took the ginseng, examined it carefully, and then smelled it, a look of shock appearing on his face.
"This is amazing! This...this ginseng is at least a hundred years old! Young lady, how much of this ginseng are you planning to offer?"
Su Wantang was confident and quoted a price that was not low but reasonable.
After some haggling, the wild ginseng was finally sold at a price that greatly satisfied Su Wantang. Holding the thick wad of "ten-thousand-yuan notes," her heart was still pounding.
This money came too easily!
Over the next few days, she used the same method to sell some rare medicinal herbs and several plump fresh fish from her spatial storage. With more and more money in her hands, she deliberately found a secluded place to deposit it all.
With this money, she felt much more at ease. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
