Chapter 26 Things took an unexpected turn...
Things took an unexpected turn, leaving Ji Qingyu completely bewildered. Fu Han stood protectively in front of him, his face terribly grim.
Ma Yu, holding his straw hat, glanced back and forth between Ji Qingyu and Fu Han, his expression somewhat off. The scene remained noisy; this was clearly not the place to talk.
“Xiaoyu, aren’t you two enemies?” Ma Yu asked, somewhat confused. She pointed at the two of them. “You two had a really bad relationship in high school. I remember once I went to find you and ran into him. You forgot? He didn’t even greet us. He even glared at me.”
"What I do with him is none of your business." Fu Han coldly drew his sword, his sarcastic and contemptuous words raining down on his opponent.
Cold sweat beaded on Ji Qingyu's forehead. Ma Yu was his childhood friend, and he thought the two of them hadn't met much, so why did they seem so hostile towards each other?
Tensions are high, and it looks like a fight is about to break out.
Ji Qingyu reached out to tug at Fu Han's clothes. The smell of plum blossoms on Fu Han made him feel a little uncomfortable. He buried his chin in his scarf, gripped the fluffy edge of the scarf tightly, and exhaled a breath of cold air.
The scene remained chaotic. Police arrived late and took the people away. The assistant then went to negotiate with the onlookers to retrieve the videos from their phones and prevent them from posting them online.
Ji Qingyu was already at his limit. Still shaken, he didn't want to get involved in any more trouble, so he quickly whispered before the two of them started fighting, "My wrist hurts."
Ma Yu looked at Ji Qingyu in shock. This kind of low-class coquettish behavior was not something Ji Qingyu would have done before. What Ji Qingyu would do was rush over to comfort an omega when he cried, since he had always felt that he was a beta who had differentiated into the wrong gender.
Fu Han turned his head and glanced at Ji Qingyu, his eyes filled with anger and scrutiny. There was something he couldn't understand. Just one glance made Ji Qingyu break out in a cold sweat and feel a chill run down her spine.
"You're always causing me trouble." Fu Han paused for a few seconds, then bent down and picked up Ji Qingyu. Ji Qingyu wrapped her arms around his back and rested her chin on his shoulder. There was a cool, fragrant scent.
His soft hair fell onto Fu Han's shoulders, making him look like a koala being hugged.
As Fu Han and Ma Yu brushed past each other, Fu Han let out a cold snort and suddenly bumped into the other.
Little Ma was knocked off balance by Fu Han's bump. Ji Qingyu smiled awkwardly, leaned on Fu Han's shoulder, and gestured to him as if she were making a phone call.
On the way home, the atmosphere between the two was as if a layer of ice had formed between them again. Ji Qingyu tried to minimize her presence, silently scrolling through her phone with her head down. Reflections flashed past the window, and the damp mist made the streetlights flicker. After turning a corner, they would be home. Once home, Fu Han tossed Ji Qingyu onto the bed and went out to deal with the day's matters.
Ji Qingyu turned on his phone, and messages kept coming in. The person in charge of the stage play, after learning about the situation, hurriedly sent him a message to apologize, saying that he did not expect this to happen.
Ji Qingyu replied, "It's nothing, it's just that I might not be able to go out for a while."
"Professor Ji, we can come to you in person or communicate online for the rest of the work. We will try to visit you when we have time." The other party was sincere and apologized repeatedly.
After dealing with the person in charge, he breathed a sigh of relief and was about to lie down when another call popped up on his phone. This time it was Ma Yu. Ji Qingyu answered, and the person on the other end chatted excitedly with him: "Hey, Xiaoyu! I've missed you so much."
Ji Qingyu revealed a rare smile, happily pulling the cushion into her arms, slowly resting her chin on it, and talking on the phone: "Brother Ma, what are you doing here?"
“I recently leased an orchard and went up the mountain to plant trees. The fruit isn’t ripe yet, so I’m going down the mountain to do some small business. Let me tell you, once I buy the fruit in the fall, I’ll have money. I can make tens of thousands of yuan reselling it!” Ma Yu chattered excitedly, which made Ji Qingyu happy as well.
"Teach me how to plant them after a while, and I'll plant them with you."
“But Xiaoyu,” Ma Yu said with a hint of doubt, “that person next to you looks familiar. Didn’t we know each other in high school? I remember you two didn’t get along. I only went to the mountains for three months. What’s going on between you two now?”
Ji Qingyu's smile froze on his face. He leaned his head against the cushion, fell silent, and didn't know how to explain.
His thoughts were in turmoil, and he tried several times to brush it off with a joke, but in the end he still couldn't bring himself to speak. Their relationship was more than just bad.
The door clicked open, and Fu Han walked in with a sullen face.
He slowly approached, picked up Ji Qingyu's phone, and saw the number on it. Ma Yu said "hello" several times on the other end, and Fu Han hung up, letting out a short, cold laugh. His face was so gloomy it looked like it was about to rain.
"What's wrong?" Ji Qingyu chuckled dryly, hesitated for a moment, and said with some confusion, "Are you hurt somewhere? Let me take a look? Should we call a doctor?"
"Shut up." Fu Han's face was terrible. He pushed Ji Qingyu onto the bed without any mercy, and Ji Qingyu was interrupted again when she tried to speak.
"Don't tell me you don't know." Fu Han grabbed Ji Qingyu's wrist. "Are you still in contact with him?"
Ji Qingyu paused, somewhat stunned, a few strands of hair falling messily onto his shoulders. Fu Han was amused by his reaction: "Still pretending to be stupid? You're always so fearless."
Ji Qingyu was truly puzzled. He opened his mouth, "He and I are friends, we..."
The curtains were drawn, and the bedroom was dimly lit, with only a small nightlight on. Fu Han's eyes appeared deep and terrifying in the dim light, like a ferocious carnivore, showing no mercy to its prey and striking with deadly precision.
He lowered his head with ease, his pheromones unusually strong, fluctuating intensely and chaotically, enveloping Ji Qingyu in a plum-like scent. Ji Qingyu, pinned to the bed by Fu Han, felt a sudden sense of foreboding.
"Friends?" Fu Han slowly digested the words twice, then chuckled, "Whose friends would hug each other?"
“That was…that was you who pushed me over there,” Ji Qingyu said softly, his hand resting on Fu Han’s chest, the warmth of which reached him. “Besides, he was just trying to catch me. You, you shouldn’t be making things up.”
An alpha's possessiveness is a strange and wonderful thing, and it might even apply to an omega who has little emotional connection to them. Fu Han's pheromones were so abundant they were almost overflowing, yet his expression remained calm: "You know I'm not talking about today."
If not today, then what day? Ji Qingyu was somewhat confused. Was it in Fu Han's dream?
The two stared at each other for a while, but Ji Qingyu looked away first, his ears turning red.
"I think I should just mark you, once and for all." Fu Han lowered his head and slowly brushed aside Ji Qingyu's hair. This time he seemed serious.
Alphas always have privileges; with just a gentle bite, they can brand another independent life form—easy and effortless, yet leaving behind indelible pain.
Ji Qingyu panicked. He grabbed a pillow and threw it at Fu Han's face. He crawled to the bedside and tried to leave, but Fu Han pulled him back. "Didn't you always want to be with me? Now I'm going to mark you. What are you unhappy about?"
Isn't everything done in accordance with your wishes?
Where does one's heart lead? Fu Han's teeth bit into Ji Qingyu's gland, bringing a surge of intense, terrifying pain that almost made Ji Qingyu scream.
“You’re the one who had to wash off the mark, and now you’re the one who has to remark it… I don’t want to…” Ji Qingyu trembled uncontrollably. He felt the pain on his neck pause for a moment, then disappear, turning into a wet lick.
In the end, Fu Han let go and treated Ji Qingyu in a more familiar way, until Ji Qingyu almost fainted.
When she woke up again, the living room lights were on. Ji Qingyu struggled to get up and smelled the aroma of food.
Ji Qingyu tentatively got out of bed, but when he heard Fu Han whispering on the phone outside the door, his legs went weak and he knelt down, knocking over a cup on the table with a shrill sound.
It was Aunt Wang who heard the noise first. She immediately came in and asked, "Madam, are you alright?"
"It's nothing." Ji Qingyu forced a smile. He just felt a lot of pain in his neck. Fu Han, with his strong self-control and disgust for himself, didn't bite down and only scratched his skin.
He sat there looking a little weak. Aunt Wang cleaned up the broken glass on the floor and poured him a glass of water. "Madam, you've been through too much lately. Your fever just broke, your wrist isn't healed yet, and you were almost attacked. You have to be careful."
Yes, Ji Qingyu thought to himself, he even wanted to have his fortune told. Was he having a run of bad luck lately? Why was he always getting minor bumps and bruises?
However, none of these physical injuries could compare to the mental damage Fu Han inflicted on him.
"Mr. Fu has been on the phone all day in the living room, and he's about to contact a lawyer to file a lawsuit. That guy was beaten half to death, and he was just outside saying that he was worried about you..."
"Awake?" Fu Han walked over at some point, frowning as he looked at him: "Why are you so easily disturbed?"
Wang Sao was interrupted by him. She gave Fu Han a disappointed look and left. Ji Qingyu silently shrank to the side to avoid Fu Han's gaze.
"Don't go out during this period. If they have work to do, have them come to your home."
Ji Qingyu felt a pang of pain upon seeing Fu Han, and it took him two seconds to realize that Fu Han was holding glutinous rice balls. His stomach also growled.
He didn't know what Fu Han meant, and slowly took the Yuanxiao.
Fu Han sat under the lamplight, the small nightlight illuminating his face, revealing a hint of aloofness and indifference: "Ji Qingyu, actually, if you behave well, it's not that I can't have children with you."
Here we go again. Ji Qingyu lowered his head and ate the glutinous rice balls. His stomach was healed. He said calmly, "Don't worry, I won't covet any more. You don't need to test me again and again. I'm not that much of a threat."
“I mean…” Fu Han frowned.
"Really, there won't be any. I won't try to take your property this way." Ji Qingyu felt a little nauseous again; there was just too much sugar in these glutinous rice balls.
"What if something unexpected happens..." Fu Han tapped his hand on the table twice.
"Then let's get a divorce. I'll leave with nothing and won't hold you back." Ji Qingyu smiled ingratiatingly at Fu Han, making her statement as if to express her determination.
Fu Han stopped talking. Ji Qingyu's half-eaten red bean dumplings were suddenly snatched away. The other person slammed the bowl down on the table with a loud bang, startling Ji Qingyu who was still holding the spoon.
"Why are you so angry?" Ji Qingyu asked, puzzled. Shouldn't the other party be satisfied with this explanation?
Fu Han's mood was like a broken barometer, unpredictable to Ji Qingyu, who could only mutter curses at him silently in her heart.
Before Fu Han could say anything more, there was a knock on the door, and his secretary cautiously pushed it open: "Mr. Fu, the information on that extreme fan from yesterday has been compiled."
