Chapter 109 Will You Marry Me?
The man had his eyes closed, looking somewhat languid.
A warm breeze blew in from outside, lifting the hem of her skirt. Momo stood there looking at him, wondering why he had called her over.
However, she didn't dare to make a sound and disturb him.
It was almost noon, and the hot weather outside made people sleepy.
Momo quietly went outside and sat in the shade of the corridor, watching the people coming and going downstairs to pass the time.
She had barely sat down when she heard the man's casual voice coming from inside the room again.
"Yellow Jasmine".
"What?" Momo sighed softly, then got up and walked inside again.
The man stubbed out his cigarette, looked up at her, and said, "Go get me an iced coffee to perk me up."
"Oh," she replied habitually, though she had no idea where to get it.
"If you know where it is, then agree," the man asked.
Momo shook her head.
"It's in the city center, go buy me a drink."
"Huh?" she exclaimed in surprise, then asked, "How do I get there?"
"Of course we'll run there. We'll start running now and get there before dark."
"..."
She almost thought she had misheard. She suddenly looked up at him, wanting to discuss with him whether she could not go, or have someone else go to buy it for her. Otherwise, what would she do if she got lost in this unfamiliar place?
The man couldn't help but smile at the result.
He was just teasing her again.
Momo's eyes darkened, she puffed out her cheeks, and ignored him.
Seeing her like this, Fu Yungui laughed even harder.
"Huang Momo, can't you change this habit of believing everything people say?"
Momo, annoyed, didn't reply and turned to leave. "Where's the coffee?"
Seeing that she seemed angry, the man stopped smiling and stopped teasing her. Even the gentlest little rabbit can have its moments of anger. "It's downstairs. Ask Aunt Sang for it."
Sang Ma cooks here; she's also a local resident who comes here to cook for others and earn some extra money to supplement her family's income.
"Oh." Momo snorted and then went downstairs.
A moment later, she carefully brought up the coffee cup and placed it on the table in front of the man.
"Go to the room and get some ice," the man added.
"Okay." Momo's tone was not good, but she still did as she was told and went into the room.
There was a refrigerator next to the TV, and when she opened it, it was indeed full of various kinds of alcohol.
Why do you love drinking so much? You have to carry a refrigerator full of alcohol wherever you go. What's so good about it?
She rummaged through the drawer, found the box of ice, and took it out of the freezer.
She had just gotten up to leave when Fu Yungui strolled over with a cup of coffee.
Without thinking, Momo went over and added the ice cubes.
The man stirred it, took a sip, and then placed the cup on the table next to him.
“See?” he said.
Momo paused for a moment, realizing he was talking about wedding dresses. She had been curious about it anyway, so she asked him a question.
"Where did this wedding dress come from?"
Fu Yungui leaned against the door with his arms crossed, looking at him like he was a little fool. "What do you think?"
"Can it really fall from the sky?"
Momo was speechless after hearing his words and didn't say anything more.
"Give it a try," the man said again.
Momo was taken aback, and looked back at the wedding dress again. How could she try on a wedding dress so casually?
But she felt that the man seemed quite expectant, so she was hesitant to shake her head and refuse, but she also didn't agree.
"That day, the old man said I was taking you for myself and argued with me, demanding that I give you a proper status," Fu Yungui said casually as he looked at her.
But the thoughts he wanted to express were anything but vague.
"Would you like to marry me?"
The man's tone was somewhat playful and casual, as if he were just making a joke.
After he finished speaking, he stared intently at the woman's reaction.
Momo was stunned when she heard this, her face full of surprise. Then she immediately shook her head at him without hesitation, thinking that it was the pressure from Grandpa Pi that made him have such terrible thoughts.
She went out of the room to the living room, and the man followed her back to sit on the sofa.
“I don’t need a title. You can tell Grandpa Pi that I don’t want one myself, so you don’t need to give me a title.”
"That way he won't make things difficult for you," Momo added.
How could she possibly marry Fu Yungui?
Never in this lifetime.
Not to mention that marriage is not a game, even if you were to get married, you could find anyone better than him.
In short, she didn't want to marry him.
Momo felt that her tone was very gentle, and besides, this was for his sake, so as to avoid Grandpa Pi arguing with him and hurting the feelings between the two.
But she noticed that the man's face immediately turned cold upon hearing these words.
She thought about it again and realized that what she said didn't seem to be a problem.
But looking at the man on the sofa, she still felt inexplicably nervous.
Fu Yungui turned to look at her, his smile fading. "Huang Momo, I'll give you one more chance. Say it again."
"It's hard to say, you might as well not sleep tonight."
Momo's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately understood what he meant.
However, she didn't care much this time. No matter what she said, she couldn't escape this kind of thing in the end. It was just a pretense that this man used to deceive her.
Just like the big bad wolf and the little white rabbit said, as long as the rabbit behaves well, it won't be eaten. But once the little white rabbit encounters the big bad wolf, it can't escape its fate of being eaten; it's just a matter of time.
Besides, she doesn't even know what's wrong with what she said, so how can she rephrase it? What if she's still not satisfied after rephrasing it, and has to repeat it again?
She refused, lowered her head, and remained silent.
The man glanced at her and scoffed, "So you're planning to give up the opportunity?"
"No," she answered crisply.
"Then tell me." The man leaned back on the sofa. "Stop pretending to be a thinker."
Momo paused for a moment, then said, "I don't know what to say."
She even wanted to ask him directly what he wanted to hear from her. He could just tell her, and she could simply repeat what he said.
The man raised an eyebrow and stared at her. "Didn't you hear what I just said?"
"I heard you, but didn't you just say that you shouldn't believe everything you hear?" Momo retorted, "So I took it as a joke."
The man's face darkened. Very well, she took his jokes seriously, but he took the truth as a joke.
This woman really knows how to infuriate people.
“Alright.” Fu Yungui smiled faintly. “Then let’s go straight to the bridal chamber tonight, so you won’t say it’s illegal for me to sleep with you.”
"Let's make it legal and compliant tonight."
Momo suddenly looked up at him, her face full of disbelief, her heart pounding. "Fu Yungui."
"I was wrong. Don't act impulsively and gamble with your own marriage." She knew he was capable of forcing her into marriage.
Listen to that, he really is thinking of everything for him.
The man pinched her cheek and laughed, "This is no joke."
He hadn't really intended to play this forced marriage game with her, but her reaction was a pleasant surprise.
What, is marrying him so embarrassing?
Is she still thinking about that Bian Xi?
"Don't listen to Grandpa Piweng."
She didn't know what to do; this man never played by the rules. He never listened to Grandpa Pi, so why was he acting differently this time?
The man let go, pretending not to hear, and went downstairs with his hands in his pockets.
