Chapter 103 Go Find Da Ya
It was getting late, so the two packed their things and prepared to go back.
The mule cart was driven by a big ox; he knew how to drive an oxcart, but he only tried driving the mule cart when he came over in the morning.
The boy was very enthusiastic about it, and Shu Yu happened to be tired after walking all day, so he simply leaned against the carriage to rest.
However, as soon as she closed her eyes, she inexplicably thought of Zhang Shu, whom she had met that day.
Shu Yu straightened up immediately and frowned.
Hearing the commotion, the big ox on the cart shaft asked her through the curtain, "Ayu, what's wrong? Did I drive too fast?"
“No,” Shu Yu poked her head out and said to him, “Let’s go to Dayan Village.”
"Dayan Village?" Da Niu asked in surprise. "You're going to find Da Ya?"
Shu Yu nodded. "We happen to have a mule cart, so we're not worried about traveling. I have something I'd like to give her."
She left two boxes of rouge and face powder in her car, so I'll take them to her and, while I'm at it... see how she's doing.
Da Niu happily agreed, "Okay, last time Da Ya came back in a hurry, we didn't even have time to say a few words. Let's tell her the good news about opening the shop. Once the Zhang family knows, they will treat Da Ya much better in the future."
Shu Yu raised an eyebrow and glanced at him. Sure enough, Da Niu was actually a very thoughtful young man.
He knew that Da Ya was having a hard time, partly because she didn't have children yet. But a large part of the reason was that the Zhang family knew about the Lu family's situation and felt that even if Da Ya suffered injustice, the Lu family was too busy taking care of themselves to support her.
This time, let the Zhang family know that the Lu family is doing well now. If they dare to bully Daya again, the Lu family will definitely not let them get away with it.
Da Niu quickly pulled on the reins and turned left onto the road.
With a mule cart, the speed was indeed much faster, and the cart soon stopped at the entrance of Dayan Village.
Unlike Shangshi Village, Dayan Village has a bridge at its entrance, which allows oxcarts to slowly make their way in. However, Shuyu's mule cart has a larger cargo box, making it inconvenient for it to cross the bridge.
So the two stopped the mule cart at the village entrance and got off to walk into the village.
Shu Yu didn't know where the Zhang family lived, so after crossing the bridge, Da Niu led the way.
The two hadn't walked far when Da Niu suddenly pointed ahead and said, "That looks like Da Ya."
Shu Yu looked up and saw Daya washing clothes by the stream.
Da Niu waved and called out to her, "Da Ya, Da Ya..."
However, the stream was swift and the sound was too loud, and there were many people washing clothes and talking by the stream. Da Ya not only didn't hear them, but after washing the last piece of clothing, she picked up her basket and turned to leave.
"Hey." Da Niu could only put his hand down and said to Shu Yu, "Let's hurry up and catch up."
However, the two were far apart, and by the time they caught up, Daya had already turned into the center of the village and disappeared from sight.
The two of them had to go to Zhang's house by themselves, but Zhang's house was quite far from the stream, and they had to cross the center of the village to reach it on the other side of the stream.
Da Niu last came a year ago, when he rushed over to tell Da Ya Lu Er Bai about his leg injury. He wasn't very familiar with Dayan Village and even got lost once.
So even though the two walked quickly, by the time they arrived at the Zhang family's house, Daya had already gone inside.
Shu Yu quickened her pace and stood at the gate of the Zhang family's courtyard. She found that the gate was closed. Just as she was about to knock, she heard voices coming from inside.
"Sister-in-law, didn't you leave me any food in the kitchen?"
This is... Da Ya's voice, timid and helpless.
