A story of mutual crushes and reuniting after a long separation, mainly set on campus. It's a sweet romance.
Su Xun falls in love with a boy, only to discover that the boy likes her too.<...
The sun was shining brightly outside the window, and a few rays of sunlight shone through the gaps in the curtains, leaving a small patch of golden light and shadow on the floor.
Su Xun had no interest in reading to begin with, and after seeing that sentence, he was even more unable to calm down. His mind was full of distractions, so he simply closed the book and stuffed it back into his bag.
She walked to the bedside, pulled back the curtains, and let the sunlight stream in, instantly brightening the room.
There was a small bookshelf next to them, and Su Xun's eyes were drawn to the books on the shelf. Pei Ke had just moved in, how come there were so many books?
That's strange.
However, her gaze was immediately drawn to something next to the bookshelf: a black violin case, which, judging from its outline, appeared to be a family of violins, standing quietly in the corner.
She vaguely remembered that when she was in elementary school, Pei Ke told her that he would go out to learn the piano on weekends.
She was deeply impressed because she heard her deskmate playing the violin and felt particularly envious. In fact, she genuinely envied all her classmates who had special talents.
She had always been very ordinary, with no hobbies or special skills, and would have been easily lost in a crowd. That's why she was so excited when her family sent her to dance school, and she's been dancing for so many years now.
The violin case is somewhat worn, indicating it has been used for a long time.
Come to think of it, she had never seen Pei Ke play the violin; it must be quite captivating.
The sound of a lock being opened came from the doorway. Pei Ke stood at the door and glanced around the space. He didn't see the girl and felt a little puzzled. He looked down and saw the little figure squatting next to the bookshelf.
"What are you doing squatting there?" He stepped in and closed the door.
Hearing the noise behind him, Su Xun stood up. "I'm looking at your zither."
He walked over in a few steps, stood beside Su Xun, picked up the violin case, unzipped the side, and carefully took out the violin. Its body had smooth lines and was evenly coated with dark brown paint.
Looking at the violin, Pei Ke's eyes softened. "This was a gift from my grandmother when I was fifteen. She was a very talented violinist."
When he talked about his grandmother, a hint of pride unconsciously crept into his voice. He had seen his grandmother play and was immediately captivated by her elegant figure and beautiful music. He then began to learn the violin from his grandmother, and over the years, he has never given up keeping the violin by his side.
Bringing his thoughts back, he turned to look at the person standing to the side in a daze, and smiled, "It's almost noon, what do you want to eat?"
Su Xun stared blankly at the light in Pei Ke's eyes when he mentioned these things, but quickly snapped out of it when she heard him talking to her.
"I'm fine with either."
"Let's go then."
Pei Ke led Su out the door and into a nearby supermarket.
Standing outside the supermarket, Su Xun quickly stopped and looked at the calm-looking person next to her with a puzzled expression. "Weren't we going to eat? What are we doing at the supermarket?"
Are you going to buy instant noodles at the supermarket to make them at home?
Isn't that too hasty? Pei Ke just moved out and he's already planning to spend his days like this and start his happy couch potato life?
A scene suddenly popped into her mind: Pei Ke living alone outside, with a glowing computer screen in front of him and a steaming bowl of instant noodles in his hand.
......
"Of course we come to the supermarket to buy groceries, what are you thinking?"
Pei Ke, noticing the changes in Su Xun's expression, promptly interrupted the man's strange thoughts.
"Huh?" Su Xun pushed the instant noodles out of his mind and looked at Pei Ke.
"I'll cook for you. Didn't you just say you'd eat anything?" He sighed and ruffled the girl's hair.
"No, you can actually cook?" Su Xun was shocked. She simply couldn't reconcile the dignified Pei Ke with a kitchen full of grease.
Isn't there a saying that "a gentleman keeps away from the kitchen"?
"Why can't I cook?" He said casually, pushing a shopping cart and looking at Su Xun, who was still standing there in a daze. "Come on, come and pick out the vegetables."
Su Xun quickly followed, tears streaming down her face as the little voice inside her heart cried uncontrollably.
Good heavens, what incredible luck she had to meet such a wonderful guy! He's beautiful, academically gifted, plays the violin, can cook, and most importantly, he's absolutely smitten with her!
The two went straight to the vegetable section, where most of the customers were elderly people and aunties carrying shopping baskets.
Two young and very attractive people walked in this area and were quite conspicuous.
A kind-hearted old lady walked by and saw the two young people carefully selecting vegetables. She couldn't help but smile and came over with her basket.
"The young couple are here to buy groceries."
The phrase "young couple" made the man, who was examining the eggplant, pause, as if frozen in place.
Su Xun noticed the pink mark on Pei Ke's ear and chuckled inwardly. Afraid of giving the old woman the impression that she was arrogant and impolite, she turned to look at the old woman and gave her a sweet smile.
"Yes, I came out with him to buy groceries. He said he'd cook me a big meal later." Su Xun took Pei Ke's arm, looking touched.
When the old woman heard that the man was going to cook, a hint of surprise appeared on her face, and then her smile widened. "Then you've married a good man who's willing to cook for you. My husband and I have lived together for decades, and we've never tasted a single dish cooked by him."
Although she was criticizing her husband, there was not a trace of complaint on her face, only happiness.
"Yes, I also feel that I'm very lucky." She nodded as she spoke.
Su Xun's clothes were gently tugged for a moment, but he ignored it and continued to look at the kind-faced old woman in front of him.
"Then you two choose carefully, I won't bother you anymore." After saying that, she carried the basket and walked towards the cashier.
Su Xun waved goodbye to the old woman, and only after she left did he look at the person next to him who hadn't said a word. The purple eggplant was still clutched in his hand, still in its original state, with glistening water droplets shimmering under the supermarket lights.
She turned her gaze to the man's exquisite profile; this time, it wasn't just behind his ears, but his cheeks were also flushed with a rosy hue.
Why is this person so shy?
I got back to my place at exactly midnight.
Pei Ke brought the groceries she bought directly into the kitchen without putting them in the refrigerator. Su Xun placed another bag of snacks on the living room table; of course, these were for her to eat.
She walked into the kitchen and saw Pei Ke washing his hands. She said, "Let me help you."
"No need, I told you I'd cook for you. Go play outside for a while, I'll call you when it's ready." Pei Ke turned around and "shooed" the person out.
Seeing that Pei Ke really didn't want her help, Su Xun leaned against the door and watched.
The aloof man had his white shirt rolled up slightly, revealing a large section of his muscular forearm. The smooth lines of his forearm were displayed as he chopped vegetables. His long, slender, white fingers held a red tomato, the extreme red and white blending together.
This person's cooking is so pleasing to the eye; it seems I was just overthinking things.
Pei Ke and the kitchen are a perfect match; there's absolutely no sign of the grease and grime that I remember from the kitchen.
