Chapter Eight: A New Beginning

As the new semester began, Su's mother brought Su Xun to register for the new school.

Since it's the start of the fall semester, new students are concentrated in these two days for registration. Parents and new students are coming from all over the campus, and campus security guards are busy directing traffic into the campus.

The campus is beautiful. As soon as Su Xun stepped into the school gate, he saw a two- or three-meter-tall model representing the school's logo standing in the center of the flower bed, which reminded him of the school's rigorous academic atmosphere and long history.

The buildings are predominantly blue, accented with white, creating a simple yet beautiful aesthetic. Flowers and plants line both sides of the main campus road, and to Su Xun's surprise, a large patch of gardenias was planted along the roadside, meaning they could be seen every May – a truly delightful surprise.

There were many people coming to register, and there was a queue for registration and book collection. In order to finish as soon as possible, Su Xun and her mother decided to queue separately.

Standing at the back of the long line, Su Xun looked around at the unfamiliar faces. Would she soon be classmates with these people? She would adapt, make new friends, and do new things.

"Su Xun! You're here too!"

Su Xun's thoughts were interrupted by a gasp, and he turned to look at the source of the sound.

It was Pu Xiaochuan. After the summer vacation, he seemed to have lost a lot of weight. His chubby body from two months ago was no longer so comical, and he had also grown much taller. Su Xun could hardly believe what she was seeing at first.

"I thought it was you from a distance, and when I got closer, it really was you. What a coincidence! By the way, which class are you in?" Before Su Xun could even speak, Pu Xiaochuan kept talking, confirming to Su Xun that this was the Pu Xiaochuan she used to know.

"I'm in Class Two."

"I'm in this class too."

"That's great! We can be classmates again!" At first, Su Xun was worried that she would be lonely in the new class, but now that she knew that her old friend was still with her, she was both surprised and relieved.

"Hehehe, by the way, where's Tang Shi? Is she here? You two are always together." Pu Xiaochuan looked around and, not seeing Tang Shi, couldn't help but feel curious.

“Tang Shi also came to this school, but she’s not in the same class as us anymore; she went to Class 5.” Su Xun shook his head.

"Yay! That's great! She won't bother me so easily when we play together."

"Pu Xiaochuan! I heard you! You jerk, don't try to separate me and Xiaoxunxun." Tang Shi had somehow appeared behind the two of them and, unsurprisingly, had overheard their conversation.

Although she was angry, she had a smile on her face. The joy of being in the same school again diluted her already little anger.

"You're so fierce! Tang Shi, you're too fierce!" Pu Xiaochuan was so surprised when he saw Tang Shi that he almost jumped up.

That sight made Su Xun and Tang Shi burst into laughter.

The three of them played around as usual.

School starts immediately after registration closes.

On the first day of school, Su Xun's mother brought him to school, and the two had a simple breakfast at a breakfast shop near the school.

After finishing her meal, Su's mother turned to Su Xun and said, "Xunxun, you're in junior high now, and these three years are crucial. Even though you got into the top class, you can't let your guard down. Everyone is putting in their best effort to get ahead!"

Su Xun nodded. "Yes, I know. I will listen attentively in class."

Having anticipated that her mother would give her such instructions, Su Xun wasn't very surprised.

Because breakfast took a little longer, when Su Xun arrived at the classroom, most of the students had already arrived, with only two empty seats at the very edge.

Looking around the doorway, Su Xun saw that Pu Xiaochuan had already found a partner and was chatting with him, thanks to his excellent social skills. Su Xun sighed and silently walked to the empty seat.

The first period, according to the management, did not include any scheduled classes. The homeroom teacher met with the students and held a safety education class meeting.

The new homeroom teacher was a woman in her forties surnamed Liu. Before the start of the semester, some well-informed students in the class had already heard that the new homeroom teacher was a "tough character," and that the classes she taught were always the most disciplined in the entire grade, and of course, had the best grades.

He is known for his strictness and never shows leniency towards students.

The news spread among a few students, and now probably most of the class knows. So when Teacher Liu entered the room, everyone tacitly quieted down and stared at her face, as if trying to glean something from it.

Sure enough, as soon as Teacher Liu entered the room, everyone felt a sense of pressure, with an undercurrent surging throughout the classroom.

"Hello students, I am your homeroom teacher and I teach you math, but please don't call me math teacher. My surname is Liu, just call me Teacher Liu." Teacher Liu walked to the center of the podium, picked up a piece of white chalk, and wrote the character "Liu" in large letters on the blackboard. Although it was an ordinary opening, it sent a shiver down the spines of the students below the podium.

That rumor was indeed more than just a rumor.

"Hello, teacher!" the students greeted in unison as a form of response.

Ms. Liu nodded. "From now on, we'll be in the same class. Since I'm your homeroom teacher, I need to tell you my rules. In my class, no tardiness, no leaving early, no fighting, and no early romantic relationships that disrupt the class atmosphere. Also, you must always prioritize your studies. If any student's grades drop too much in each monthly exam, then I'm sorry, you'll have to leave our class. Do you all understand?"

After hearing Teacher Liu list a series of things they couldn't do, the students in Class Two couldn't help but feel worried about their lives for the next three years.

"Did you hear me clearly?"

"Great. Since this is a new class and everyone doesn't know each other yet, let's start with a simple self-introduction. Everyone, please stand on the podium, write your name, and then briefly introduce yourself. Let's take turns according to your seats."
