Chapter Thirty-Three: A Gift

New buds have sprouted in the small flower bed next to the school's convenience store, shimmering with golden light under the warm sun.

During lunch break, most students had finished lunch and returned to the classroom to rest.

In the corridor outside the supermarket, a row of tables were placed side by side, where several noisy boys were sitting, discussing something and making a lot of noise, which stood out in the quiet.

"Why are you eating instant noodles again? Didn't you have lunch?" Luo Feng teased a bald boy who was eating noodles.

"I'm still growing, I get hungry quickly," Zhang Zhihao replied, slurping a mouthful of noodles.

"Screw your growth spurt! You eat so much but you haven't grown taller, you've just gotten fatter." Luo Feng bluntly revealed the truth.

"Tsk, you two, so noisy! Can't you be quiet while eating noodles?" The boy playing on his phone interrupted impatiently, looking displeased.

The two had no choice but to keep quiet. They had finally managed to get Jiang Ce to come out and sit with them at the supermarket for a while, so they didn't want to piss him off.

I don't know what Jiang Ce does all day. He's always glued to his phone and doesn't like to go out to play ball anymore.

Luo Feng quietly approached, snatched the phone from the man's hand, and looked at the screen.

"You know what? There's a bald guy eating noodles next to me, and his head looks like a shiny, oily hard-boiled egg." Luo Feng read the words he saw aloud, seemingly unafraid of death.

Jiang Ce shoved the man aside, took back his phone, and said, "Luo Feng, are you crazy? Are you asking for trouble?"

The boy, whose privacy had been violated, had a fierce look in his eyes, his beautiful eyes narrowed, revealing a hint of danger.

Luo Feng wilted at a speed visible to the naked eye.

They all knew Jiang Ce's temper; he was not someone to be trifled with. They still remembered how fiercely he fought with those thugs in the past.

He and Jiang Ce had known each other since childhood and were closer than others, which was why he dared to take Jiang Ce's phone. However, he did not expect Jiang Ce to be so angry.

Jiang Ce sat back down, seemingly not intending to pursue the matter further, and took a sip of the soda beside him.

Seeing that the fur on the person had been smoothed out, Luo Feng leaned closer and cautiously asked, "Brother Ce, are you serious about this little white rabbit?"

"Tsk, how dare you call me 'little white rabbit'?" The boy looked up.

Realizing something was wrong, Luo Feng immediately changed his tune, "It's Su Xun, no, I should call her sister-in-law."

"And you're not allowed to call her sister-in-law."

Luo Feng rubbed his eyes in disbelief. Just now, Brother Ce—

Is she shy?

After slurping up the last noodle, Zhang Zhihao joined the conversation, "Brother Ce, you don't have to joke about me if you're going to pursue someone. It makes me lose face."

He looked aggrieved.

Could you all please say less?

Jiang Ce irritably finished the last sip of his soda, tossed the bottle into a nearby trash can, and walked away.

Back in the classroom, Jiang Ce took out his phone and glanced at it again. Looking at their chat history, it was mostly him talking, and Su Xun had only replied to him two or three times.

Moreover, he knew that Su Xun usually didn't look at his phone during the school year, only taking it out on weekends.

You really listen to your teacher!

Jiang Ce casually tossed his phone into his pocket, rested his chin on his left hand, and stared blankly at the blackboard in front of him, remembering Luo Feng's words.

Is this for real?

Actually, he didn't know either. He just felt a sense of closeness to Su Xun. He was so small, just like a little white rabbit, a timid and obedient little rabbit.

Luo Feng and Zhang Zhihao walked into the classroom while playfully bickering.

Ever since Zhang Zhihao shaved his head, the two of them have been arguing non-stop, and it's giving them headaches.

Jiang Ce was too lazy to pay attention to the two.

Luo Feng sat down next to Jiang Ce and patted him on the shoulder. "Brother Ce, are you lovesick? Why don't we go to the entrance of Class Two and call him over?"

"You dare!"

If Luo Feng and the others were sent, something bad would definitely happen, and Little White Rabbit might not even dare to look at him anymore.

“But you can’t keep going like this. The once spirited Ce-ge is withering away. He likes someone but doesn’t tell her. Otherwise—”

Jiang Ce glanced at the man, signaling him to speak up if he had any ideas.

"Why don't you send a gift over? I've seen that everyone in the class does the same thing."

Office

The homeroom teacher, with her hair neatly combed, sat in a chair, holding a report card in her hand, with a small figure standing beside her.

"Su Xun, you did very well on the last final exam. It was beyond my expectations. You ranked third in the class. You are a very motivated child."

Su Xun stood aside and listened without interrupting, though he was actually a little nervous.

She was startled when her homeroom teacher suddenly called her to the office, and she had been wondering why the teacher had called her there the whole way.

She maintained a low profile in class, just like before, focusing on her studies and not liking to stand out. Everyone's impression of her was surprisingly consistent—a quiet girl who only knew how to study.

Because she had such a low profile, even the teachers didn't pay much attention to her. They usually focused their attention on a few prominent figures like Pei Ke, or on talented classmates like Song Lisha who could bring honor to the class.

Su Xun, who was rarely called on by the teacher, was a little nervous. When she was nervous, she liked to fidget with the hem of her clothes.

Even when praised by the teacher.

"If you continue with this attitude towards learning, you should have no problem getting into No. 3 Middle School."

No. 3 High School is the best high school in Huaicheng, ranking among the top 100 high schools in the country, and its admission scores are notoriously high. Hearing Teacher Liu's affirmation, Su Xun was somewhat happy.

"You're a bit weak in math. You seem to pay close attention in class, but you rarely ask me questions in private. If there's anything you don't understand in the future, you should ask more questions."
