Chapter 20: Crab

Chapter 20 Crab Crab

I handed the keys to the parking attendant and before I even stepped through the door, a waiter came out to greet me: "Mr. Li, would you like the food served now?"

Li Yansheng held Chen Runling, who had just woken up, in his arms, nodded and instructed, "Squeeze another dozen corns for juice."

Lin Shutang could clearly see the waiter's expression from the side. He was polite and even showed obvious respect throughout. It seemed that someone had given him instructions.

The private restaurant has two floors, and the private room is on the second floor. Lin Shutang walked behind and saw the man's straight back.

Li Yansheng held the child in one hand, looking relaxed. He must have exercised regularly, as the muscles in his taut arms were clearly defined. His back was broad and straight, giving him an inexplicable sense of security. Lin Shutang suddenly remembered a word Jiang Qinyuan had once said to her: a supporter.

Chen Runling rubbed his eyes and asked, "Uncle, do you have any fish that I like?"

"have."

A plaque hung on the eaves of the private room's door: Guanlan. No one else was there when Lin Shutang pulled up a seat and sat down. Dishes were served one after another.

Not sure if it was a coincidence or Li Yansheng had specifically reminded her, but Lin Shutang casually glanced at a few and found that several of them were her favorites.

Then she thought again, she and Li Yansheng had only had a few meals together at Chen's house, that was all, and it was most likely just a coincidence.

Li Yansheng must have eaten. Lin Shutang noticed that he barely moved his chopsticks during the meal. He leaned back in his chair, not playing with his phone. He mostly drank tea, occasionally picking up something for Chen Runling.

When he heard Chen Runling say she wanted to eat crabs, he unbuttoned his cuffs, rolled up his sleeves, and revealed a part of his forearm.

Wearing disposable gloves, he picked a small plate of crab meat for Chen Runling.

Then, he put a few crabs into another plate, placed it on the dining table and handed it to Lin Shutang.

Lin Shutang: "Thank you!"

Halfway through the meal, Lin Shutang's cell phone on the table rang. She picked it up and saw the caller ID. She didn't answer and hung up directly.

The person on the other end didn't give up and continued to call. Lin Shutang found the noise annoying and set his phone to silent mode.

Li Yansheng looked up, but said nothing.

About five minutes later, Lin Shutang picked up the phone on the table and said, "I'm going to go out for a while."

Li Yansheng glanced at the plate of untouched crabs and watched her leave.

The call was from Zhao Lanzhi, and Lin Shutang had initially been reluctant to answer. But after seeing a message from Zhao Lanzhi saying she would go to the school to look for her instructor if she didn't answer the phone, Lin Shutang had no choice but to call back.

"Where have you been? Why haven't you answered the phone?" Zhao Lanzhi said in a bad tone. She has been like this since she moved to Feng's house last time.

"My phone went silent just now. What happened?" Lin Shutang asked.

She no longer has any patience for this family.

"Tomorrow afternoon, don't forget what I told you before."

"Got it." After saying that, Lin Shutang hung up the phone directly, not wanting to hear what Zhao Lanzhi had to say anymore.

The fingertips of the hand holding the phone turned white because of the force.

His face was pale and he stood in the corridor looking downstairs, not knowing what he was thinking.

Li Yansheng was talking on the phone with a cigarette between his fingers, and his sight was the girl's slightly pale profile.

"Uncle, Teacher Lin, I'm done eating, let's go!"

Hearing the voice, Lin Shutang turned around and saw Li Yansheng coming out of the box at some point, talking on the phone.

Behind him, Chen Runling was jumping out of the door with a pumpkin pie in her hand.
