Apocalypse | Stockpiling | Supernatural Powers | Killing Zombies | Fighting Survivors
Congratulations to me for receiving the Apocalypse Lucky Person package, complete with an arbitrary door ...
I followed the nurse for two minutes until we reached an automatic door that required a card. The nurse took out her card from her bag, swiped it on the card reader on the wall, and the door opened. The nurse said, "Go in, a doctor will examine you inside."
I entered the room, a large space containing a hospital bed covered with sterile sheets. Next to it was a medical trolley with several bottles of medicine and two syringes. Further in, I lifted the blue curtain and saw a metal chair, strikingly similar to the electric chair used in torture scenes in movies. I shrank back in fear. Further in, there was a row of freezers filled with medicine. Just as I was about to examine them, someone suddenly appeared beside the freezers: "Don't wander around."
I was startled and quickly took a few steps back. Upon closer inspection, I saw a hidden door next to the freezer. The person who came in was wearing a white coat and black-rimmed glasses. The female doctor walked out without turning her head and said, "Come lie down over here."
Perhaps frightened by the eerie atmosphere, I didn't dare linger and ran towards the hospital bed. I lay down in front of the bed, and as soon as I lay down, the doctor picked up a syringe and a small bottle of unlabeled medicine from the trolley. I panicked instantly and hurriedly asked, "Doctor, what are you going to do?"
The doctor didn't look at me, and started mixing the medicine himself: "Virus antibody, I'll inject you a small amount first to see if you have any rejection reaction."
I asked doubtfully, "Antibodies? Isn't this part of a physical exam? Why do we need to inject antibodies first? What kind of antibodies are they?"
The doctor had already prepared the medicine and turned to me with the syringe: "It's an antibody against the zombie virus. You need to observe the antibody rejection reaction for two hours. After I finish the injection, you can have a physical examination. Come back to me after the examination."
The doctor picked up the syringe and prepared to inject it into my bare arm. I instinctively pulled my hand back. The doctor said expressionlessly and in a cold tone, "Don't move. If you miss, you'll have to do it again."
I tried to calm myself down and turned my head away from the syringe. By the time I felt the pain and turned back, the doctor had already removed the needle. I looked at the spot on my arm where the needle had been, and there was a band-aid on it, with faint traces of blood still visible in the center.
The doctor had already turned around and was cleaning the used medicine bottles and syringes on the trolley. I asked, "Can I go for my physical exam now?"
The doctor didn't speak or pay attention to me, so I asked again out of curiosity, "Doctor? When can I go for my physical exam?"
The doctor still ignored me. Just then, I heard the sound of a door opening. Several nurses and another female doctor in a white coat came in. Just as I was about to say something, my eyelids closed involuntarily. I only vaguely heard several people walk in front of me before I lost consciousness.
When I woke up again, I felt pain all over my body. I instinctively reached out to check myself, but there was nothing wrong. I sat up and looked around. There was no one there. Just as I was about to get out of bed, the door opened and the doctor who had given me the injection walked in. He asked in a calm tone, "Oh, you're awake?"
I frowned and asked warily, "What did you do to me?"
The doctor picked up the documents in his hand, flipped through them, and said casually, "Didn't you see what I did to you?"
I was a little angry: "Why am I in pain all over? Why did I pass out after you gave me the injection? What did you give me?"
The doctor smiled gently and said, "You just had a strong reaction to the antibodies, which is why you fainted."
I didn't believe what the doctor said and tried to get up, but the doctor stopped me: "Lie down first. Your rejection reaction hasn't completely subsided yet, so you'll feel a little uncomfortable."
The doctor maintained a lukewarm smile throughout, gently pressing down on my shoulder. Seeing that I didn't try to get out of bed, she tightened her grip and pushed me back down. I lay down and said, "Don't I still need a physical exam?"
The doctor said, "You've already had your physical exam done. While you were unconscious, I had a nurse come to your room to complete the exam so as not to delay the process."
I raised both arms and indeed saw a needle mark on my right arm. Suddenly, I remembered my phone and quickly got up to look for it. Seeing my panic, the doctor said, "Are you looking for your phone?"
I stopped what I was doing, looked at her, and nodded hesitantly. The doctor said, "I had the nurse put it in the changing room for you. Didn't I say that everything should be put in the storage room? You still brought things in without permission."
I didn't say anything, but suddenly felt a wave of dizziness. I lay back down on the bed. The doctor saw this and said, "Rest a little longer. The rejection reaction will take a while to subside. I'll let you go back home when you're all better."
I lay on the hospital bed and drifted off to sleep. When I woke up again, I was back in my room. I turned my head and saw Ji Lin'an lying beside me. I quickly got up and called out to him, "Old Ji, Old Ji!"
Ji Lin'an didn't open his eyes, his brows furrowed. I continued to call out, and Ji Lin'an suddenly opened his eyes. After seeing that it was me, he looked around and slowly got up: "How come we're in a room? I remember I was in a hospital room."
I shook my head: "I don't know either. I remember being in the ward before I fell asleep, but I don't know how I woke up in my room."
When I saw that Ji Lin'an had woken up, I realized that he was wearing the same medical examination gown as me. He was facing me sideways. I subconsciously looked down, then took a deep breath and looked at myself. I was wearing the same outfit. He realized it too. We looked at each other and then turned around awkwardly to find something to cover ourselves before rushing to the closet to find our own clothes.
After changing our clothes, we looked at each other and smiled awkwardly. Seeing our original clothes and phones on the desk, I immediately ran to pick up my phone. There were two messages, one from Jiang Kexin and the other from Qianliyan. I opened Qianliyan's chat window. It was sent about ten minutes ago, asking if we were awake. I replied: Awake.
Less than two minutes later, there was a rapid knocking on the door. Ji Lin'an went to open it, and it was Qianliyan and Wufeng. The two looked at us with serious expressions. Ji Lin'an and I didn't say much, took the room key, and left the room. We strolled around the park with Qianliyan and Wufeng for quite a while before finding a place that seemed safe. It was a lake, and there was a floating bridge in front of us leading to the middle of the lake. We walked along the floating bridge to the end, but we didn't see any dolls along the way. The nearest doll was about twenty meters away from us. Ji Lin'an smiled and said, "Don't frown. Smile. Although they might not be able to hear what we say from twenty meters away, the surveillance cameras can capture our expressions."
We all immediately burst into laughter, standing on the pontoon bridge pointing here and there, looking as if we were simply admiring the scenery.
