Xiao Cheng is dragged into a game world, weak, helpless, and suffering from amnesia. Faced with mentally challenged NPCs, a teammate who seems like a big shot obsessed with finding bugs, and unreli...
A commotion broke out on the first floor. Ward doors opened one after another, and nurses rushed out, yelling and screaming. Suddenly, a jumble of footsteps, accompanied by rapid, pounding heartbeats, approached the three.
"Upstairs!" They made a quick decision, not daring to waste a second, and ran upstairs with their heads down. However, it was as if they were trapped in a fog; the stairwell they remembered seemed to be exceptionally long, with no end in sight.
"Wait, where's the wall?" Xiao Cheng wanted to follow the wall, but after groping around for a long time, she couldn't find it. The footsteps around her gradually slowed down, pattering, each step perfectly matching her heartbeat, like stepping on a drumbeat.
As the footsteps drew closer, a rich floral fragrance filled the air, permeating the nostrils and making one feel drowsy.
Xiao Cheng was momentarily dazed, realizing something was wrong, and bit her tongue hard. The gushing blood masked the floral fragrance, and a sigh of despair echoed in the darkness. Then, the sound of her heartbeat faded into the distance, gradually becoming weaker.
Without time to think, Xiao Cheng's palm touched the cold wall. She quickly determined her location and shouted to the two people beside her who had completely gone off course: "This way!"
The nurses were mostly concentrated at the back, and there were only two people at the nurses' station upstairs. There was no noise on the third floor for the time being, so we could run!
Xiao Cheng quickly grasped the situation and blinked hard to adjust to the darkness as soon as possible.
"No, they're chasing us too fast, we won't make it into the ward in time!" The patient in bed number 3 seemed to have a weakness in stamina, as he was already out of breath from running.
Bed number 4 gritted its teeth and said, "I'll lure them away, you guys take advantage of the situation..."
“No need to take advantage of the situation.” Xiao Cheng had a new idea, and the more she thought about it, the more feasible it seemed. She reached out and touched the chair leg in the hands of bed number 4, and easily took it from him. “Excuse me, could I borrow this?”
At the top of the stairs, two nurses on the second floor stood guard, grinning maliciously as they waited for the three to walk right into their trap. The turn in the stairwell created a blind spot, and Xiao Cheng, pushing his speed to its limit, suddenly leaped out, grabbed a chair leg, and smashed it twice on their foreheads.
The chair leg was broken in half, wood chips flew everywhere, Xiao Cheng shook his hand which was numb from the reaction force and gasped.
The two nurses were stunned by the impact, their faces slightly dented in the middle. They swayed for a moment before falling heavily to the ground. Taking advantage of the moment, the nurse in bed number 4 rushed out, her movements swift and agile, and with lightning speed, ripped off their nurse uniforms.
"Catch!" With a flick of her wrist, she tossed one of the items behind her. Bed number 3 was hit right over the head, and the patient stumbled, nearly tripping over the two nurses on the floor.
Xiao Cheng reached out and tugged at him: "Be careful, hurry up."
The nurses on the first floor had already chased them into the stairwell; they could catch them around the next corner. Beds 3 and 4 put on their nurse uniforms as they ran, stopped in the middle of the second-floor corridor, and then turned back, pretending to meet up with the other nurses.
Xiao Cheng didn't go up into the corridor. Instead, she held her breath and waited quietly in the stairwell. Just a second before the nurses ran to the second floor, she slipped into the corner leading to the third floor.
The two nurses who had been forcibly undressed did not faint. They groaned and leaned against the wall to stand up, blocking the large group downstairs.
Nurse Number 2, who was already in the lead, almost lost her footing and crashed into them. Enraged, she forcefully shoved them aside, yelling, "Who are you!"
The two nurses stammered and couldn't say anything, like a program that had gone out of control, numbly swaying in place. They delayed for almost a minute, while the nurses in beds 3 and 4 finished tidying their uniforms and steadily arrived at the stairwell.
When Nurse Number 2 saw them, she kicked the two burly men to the ground, stepped over their bodies, and walked out of the stairwell, coldly asking, "Who's coming upstairs!"
Several other nurses with numbers stood behind him, creating a very intimidating atmosphere.
Number 3 composed herself and tugged at her ill-fitting nurse's uniform: "Yes, I didn't see which wards she went into, so I couldn't catch up."
"Search," Nurse Number 2 said succinctly, "especially those critically ill patients."
As soon as he finished speaking, the faceless, burly men surged out of the stairwell and headed towards the second-floor wards. Nurse Number 2 was left behind, and suddenly, he called out loudly to the patients in beds 3 and 4 who were mixed in with the crowd: "Wait."
Xiao Cheng and the other two were all startled, their hearts clenching instantly.
"What's wrong?" Bed number 3 turned around, trying to appear calm. "We've been keeping watch at the nurses' station, but we didn't see them sneak out."
"It's not important." Nurse No. 2 ignored their explanation. "You two take bed No. 2 to the morgue. Don't cause any more trouble, after all, the hospital director will be back tomorrow."
Bed number 2 is really dead.
As fellow gamers, they all felt a mix of emotions upon hearing this news.
The two followed Nurse No. 2 downstairs with trepidation. Meanwhile, all the corridor lights were turned on, and the faceless nurses, led by several numbered nurses, split into four teams and began searching the wards one by one.
Xiao Cheng was alone in the stairwell.
The other two were called to deliver the body, which was completely outside her plan, but it didn't affect anything. Her guess was right; the nurses only recognized the clothes, not the people, and even if they found their room was empty, they wouldn't do anything.
The problem lies with Su Xin; by doing this, she has essentially put herself in an extremely dangerous situation.
Unless they can provide a reasonable explanation for their disappearance.
Her mind had never been so active; a new plan quickly took shape—a bit risky, but worth a try. Having made up her mind, Xiao Cheng quickly turned and ran towards the third floor.
The map for bed number 3 was poorly drawn, but the information was still accurate. Stepping out of the stairwell, you enter the waiting hall, with two rows of neatly arranged seats. An electronic screen hangs in the center of the hall, but it's currently black.
Opposite the waiting hall were three waiting rooms, their doors closed and heavy padlocks on the handles. Further ahead, a large area comprised treatment rooms, separated by heavy curtains, creating a mysterious and oppressive atmosphere.
Xiao Cheng walked over and lifted the curtain.
The treatment room was spacious, divided into two sections by frosted glass. The outer section contained a desk and a hospital bed, while the inner section held a large, strange instrument that resembled a giant electric chair, with tangled and complex wiring extending from it and disappearing into the wall at the other end.
On the cabinet next to the instruments, there was a complete range of medical equipment. The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant and a rich floral fragrance.
However, this time the fragrance of flowers did not make her lose her senses.
Xiao Cheng looked around inside but didn't find any valuable clues. Just then, she heard a series of dragging footsteps coming from the stairwell. Her eyes lit up, knowing that she had guessed correctly again. She turned around and lay down on the bed in the outer room.
The bleeding from biting her tongue had stopped, but Xiao Cheng steeled herself and bit it again, almost bringing tears to her eyes from the pain. Blood trickled down the corner of her mouth, staining the sheets and spreading out in a bright red patch, creating a striking visual effect.
The footsteps grew closer. Xiao Cheng closed her eyes, slowed her breathing, and pretended to be half-dead. A few seconds later, she heard the sound of the curtain being lifted.
