Xiao Cheng is dragged into a game world, weak, helpless, and suffering from amnesia. Faced with mentally challenged NPCs, a teammate who seems like a big shot obsessed with finding bugs, and unreli...
Su Xin curled up helplessly on the hospital bed, watching Xiao Cheng open the door and welcome in a limping man covered in blood.
Xiao Cheng was completely dumbfounded. She hadn't expected that Fang He could make her look so miserable in just one day.
"You went to challenge the BOSS to a duel?" Her tongue wasn't very fluent, and she had to control her volume, so she stammered out her sentence.
"You replaced the original tongue?" Fang He casually wiped his face, then took off his coat and shook off the bits of flesh and blood clinging to it.
Xiao Cheng didn't want to hurt each other: "Keep your noise down. With such a big listening device, we'll all be wiped out in no time."
"It's okay, the power's out." Fang He took out a thumb-sized flashlight from his coat pocket and turned it on with one hand.
Using the dim light, Xiao Cheng finally saw Fang He's current condition clearly. To describe him as covered in blood was an understatement; judging from his appearance alone, he was even more terrifying than a typical boss.
His exposed arms, in particular, were covered in crisscrossing cuts of varying depths, gushing blood, which looked horrifying.
"Holy shit, you..."
Fang He put his coat back on, pulled down the cuffs to cover the wounds completely: "The power outage, I did it. I hid in the morgue and then tampered with it when it was turned on again."
"You're quite proud of yourself." Xiao Cheng was speechless. She didn't know what Fang He had done, but just looking at the injuries on his body, the level of danger was obvious.
"Is he... the player who pretended to be a doctor?" Su Xin cautiously leaned closer. "Although I'm a newbie, I'll do my best to help if you have any plans."
"Her name is Su Xin," Xiao Cheng introduced to Fang He.
"Bed number 6, I've written down your medical report." Fang He shoved the flashlight into Xiao Cheng's hand, then pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket, folded in several places and stained with blood, and unfolded it with some difficulty.
"You can even eat this with soy sauce?" Xiao Cheng was exhausted from complaining.
"You have quite a strong taste." Fang He wiped the unidentified object off the paper. "Bed number 6, female, described herself as a vanilla ice cream."
Xiao Cheng: "..." It's not as reliable as my own mushrooms.
Su Xin smiled shyly, "I guessed it. When I was pretending to be crazy, Nurse Number 6 drew a refrigerator and told me to go up and freeze it myself."
“Dr. B only has your medical records; I couldn’t find the others’ reports. They should be with the other two doctors.” Fang He put the papers away again. “Taking the ID card and white coat was an accident; I didn’t expect it to actually cover up the doctor’s identity. And the nurses—I saw beds number 3 and 4 at the nurses’ station.”
“Maybe we can go a little bigger; the dean will be back tomorrow,” Xiao Cheng suggested enthusiastically.
"What are you thinking? Dungeons have their own balancing mechanisms. In puzzle dungeons, bugs like this that have already affected the storyline will be fixed very quickly." Fang He poured cold water on her idea. "In other words, the DM is going to get involved personally."
Xiao Cheng: "..." I have a bad feeling.
Fang He left the ward before dawn. The nurses either didn't notice the power outage, or they did notice but didn't intend to intervene.
The doctor who came to check on us this morning was the real Dr. B. He stood at the door, coldly glanced at Xiao Cheng and Su Xin, and then turned and left without saying a word.
Even their two personal nurses didn't react much, routinely feeding them their medicine and leaving without even locking the door.
Xiao Cheng spat out the pill and said with a serious expression, "This is not normal. The nurses and doctors are too normal."
"Is it because the dean is coming back?"
"No matter what, this is just the calm before the storm." Xiao Cheng sighed deeply. "The world is about to change."
This calm lasted until 10 a.m.
Suddenly, a crackling sound of an electronic broadcast filled the corridor, followed by a gentle, calm male voice: "Hello? Hello? You should all be able to hear me, right? Attention everyone, please arrive at the small garden on the first floor within fifteen minutes to greet your director. Friendly reminder: mental illness is not an excuse for being late."
"I can't be late." Xiao Cheng said thoughtfully, "Absence shouldn't count as being late, right?"
Then the announcement came on again: "Friendly reminder number two: Absence is a worse offense than being late."
Xiao Cheng: "..." You're patching things up, aren't you?
She was about to ask if taking leave counted, but Su Xin grabbed her wrist and said, "Let's go."
“This isn’t about whether we’re leaving or not, Su Xin.” Xiao Cheng knew she was worried about her. “There’s no small garden on the first floor here.”
Regardless of whether there's a small garden or not, the first floor is definitely a must-go. Xiao Cheng had originally hoped to follow the nurse, but once she stepped out of the ward, she realized the situation was far more complicated than she had imagined.
Outside, all the ward doors were open, and the corridor was bustling with people, yet eerily silent.
Beds 3 and 4, dressed in nurses' uniforms, ran over and passed right through them, creating ripples in the air. The two women, oblivious to the ripples, continued forward, rushing into the wall at the end of the corridor.
The nurses stumbled and bumped against the wall, which sank in like a swamp, swallowing them whole.
Su Xin gripped Xiao Cheng's arm tightly: "Xiao Cheng... I'm a little scared."
"It's okay, hold on tight to me, let's try walking it once." Xiao Cheng looked at the straight corridor in front of her and tentatively walked forward.
Aside from the nurses who might walk right through her body at any moment, the road seemed no different from usual. Su Xin's courage gradually grew: "Seems like there's nothing wrong?"
