Xiao Cheng is dragged into a game world, weak, helpless, and suffering from amnesia. Faced with mentally challenged NPCs, a teammate who seems like a big shot obsessed with finding bugs, and unreli...
Looking at the stall owner's smug smile, Xiao Cheng took the repaired Polaroid camera from his hands with a blank expression.
"Five points on credit, thanks for your patronage." The stall owner scratched the pustules on his face. "No rush to pay, hehe, I'm not the kind of person who's obsessed with money."
Xiao Cheng sneered, raised his hand, and snapped a photo of the stall owner and his shop.
The stall owner was taken aback by her quick movements; his expression froze, and he hurriedly covered his face with his arm, shouting, "What are you doing?!"
"It's just testing the repair effect, don't be so nervous." Xiao Cheng took down the photos she had just taken. The clarity wasn't great, but at least they were usable.
On the back of the photo, a line of small print slowly appeared: "Taken by passenger number 1 at a dilapidated repair shop."
At the same time, the receptionist's voice rang in Xiao Cheng's mind: "Congratulations on successfully checking in at the C-level attraction and earning 5 park points. Let the shy maintenance worker say hi to the camera."
Xiao Cheng: "..." What the hell is this shy repairman like?
But these 5 points were practically free. She pasted the photo onto the visitor guide and gave Fang He an OK sign.
Fang He nodded; he had also heard the points announcement earlier.
"return?"
"return."
The two exchanged a knowing glance, then Xiao Cheng walked over and poked the repairman on the shoulder: "Don't be shy yet, excuse me, I need to pay my bill."
The repairman, looking dejected, took back his points and said earnestly, "Please don't come again."
"Don't worry, it's a tourist attraction after all. It would be terrible if no one came. We'll help promote it." Xiao Cheng, feeling relieved of his debts, hugged the broken Polaroid camera that looked like it had been through eighteen hands but was still sturdy, and showed a sincere smile.
After leaving the repair shop, the two followed Fang He's plan and headed towards the visitor center.
Midway through, they took a detour to take photos of the three attractions they had visited earlier. Apart from sugar painting and ring toss, the mirror maze and fountain plaza were both rated as B-level attractions, each with a reward of 10 points.
Their points suddenly surged to 30.
"I knew it had to be a Polaroid camera." Xiao Cheng flipped through the photos and stamps in the visitor guide. "The visitor center should count too, right?"
"Yes, and we also need to ask about the tickets," Fang He nodded.
“We haven’t encountered any activities yet, and we don’t know how the others are doing.” Xiao Cheng shook his legs, looking around, slightly tired, but suddenly his gaze sharpened.
"Wait." She stopped and pointed to a clump of something lying in the bushes not far away. "Fang He, what's that?"
It was a headless corpse.
The body was already stiff, kneeling in the bushes in an eerie posture, with half a broken red rope tied around its wrist, and its fingers digging deeply into the soil, as if it had suffered great pain before dying.
The head was torn off at the shoulder and is now missing. Uneven bite marks remain at the cut. The blood seems to have been sucked dry, with only a few drops splattered on the ground. The flesh is a dull, pale white.
Fang He broke off a thick tree branch, used it to prop up the side of the corpse, and flipped it over.
"Is it number 3?" Xiao Cheng looked at the number badge on the corpse's chest and couldn't help but gasp. "He was fine when I found him."
Fang He frowned, silently using a twig to pry open his sleeve, revealing large, festering burns on his skin.
“He’s been to the mirror maze.” Fang He casually tossed the branch away. “Two possibilities.”
"The woman in orange or the maze owner?" Xiao Cheng guessed.
Fang He did not answer her.
Over the loudspeaker, the receptionist's sweet voice rang out again, echoing throughout the park: "Friendly reminder, dear guests, it is now park time, 11:00 AM sharp."
The visitor center is a Class B attraction. After taking photos, Xiao Cheng had successfully accumulated 40 points. She compared the prices in the mobile shop and felt that she could barely be considered to have escaped poverty and was on the verge of a comfortable life.
After she finished posting the photos, the receptionist came over with a warm greeting: "Dear guest, how can I help you?"
"I want to buy something," Xiao Cheng said to her.
The receptionist's smile vanished for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure and said gently, "Basic shopping can be done entirely within the mobile shopping mall."
"That's unfortunate then. We're looking for special services." Xiao Cheng said calmly, noticing her increasingly cold expression, "Two tickets, thank you."
A single ticket costs 20 points, and a double ticket costs 100 points.
Looking at the ticket list pulled out by the front desk, Xiao Cheng asked with a puzzled expression, "Are you serious about this price?"
"If it exists, it has a reason," Fang He said thoughtfully. "Shouldn't you also be able to buy on credit here?"
"Yes, that's fine." The receptionist put on her standard, mechanical smile again. "But it's not necessary, dear guest."
Xiao Cheng didn't react for a moment, and looked at Fang He in confusion: "We have just enough points for two tickets..."
“One package ticket.” Fang He shook the red string on his wrist with a serious expression. “Do we look like we can use two single tickets?”
Xiao Cheng: "..." No, that's the difference between a person and a follower.
"A double ticket, so dear guest, would you like to pay 60 park points on credit?" The receptionist's eyes grew increasingly sharp; if looks could kill, Xiao Cheng and Fang He would have been torn to pieces tens of thousands of times over.
“No.” Fang He calmly shook his head. “It’s 100. We need to buy 100 points on credit.”
Holding the package ticket, Xiao Cheng still felt somewhat dazed even after leaving the visitor center.
"Is this what it means to get something for free?" she asked, bewildered.
“No, this is called advance consumption,” Fang He corrected her. “Since you’re going to pay on credit anyway, there’s no real difference between 40 and 100. In other words…”
"If you're going to seek thrills, then go all the way!" Xiao Cheng felt he had figured it out.
Fang He revealed a pleased expression, indicating that the student was teachable: "Yes."
They hadn't gone far when they encountered Xu Chu returning. He was holding the woman in red's hand with one hand and carrying the headless corpse of player number 3 in the other. His steps were heavy, his face was gloomy, and he exuded an aura of depression.
He stopped in front of the two of them, his gaze sweeping over them before landing on the tourist guide in Xiao Cheng's hand, pausing for a few seconds.
“It wasn’t you.” He seemed slightly relieved. “Number 3 is dead.”
“I know, we saw his body on the way here.” Xiao Cheng hesitated for a moment, then suddenly thought of a possibility and tentatively asked, “Was it… the player who did it?”
Fang He sighed almost inaudibly: "Didn't you notice?"
“The visitor guide,” Xu Chu added immediately, “is missing.”
