The Great Pirate Era.
The great seas surge and churn, powerhouses destroy and annihilate, each fighting their own battles. It's utterly—
Demotivating!
I, Russil Kuro, age tw...
The Kingdom of Laya is a small island located on the border of the sea area under the jurisdiction of G-3. The island is famous for its fruit, which is large, honey-colored, and brightly colored. It is loved all over the world and is a famous fruit country. It is also one of the member states of the World Government.
Because it is the waters under the jurisdiction of the G-3 branch, it has always been peaceful and developed, accumulating a lot of wealth.
But just recently, this country was invaded by an enemy.
At this moment, two warships were anchored nearby on the shore, with only some navy personnel remaining on duty. Not far ahead, a group of navy personnel were gathering, with the two leading navy personnel wearing cloaks looking around with solemn expressions.
They were in a village filled with the smoke of gunpowder. Many houses had been burned down, and there were many charred corpses lying on the ground.
Behind the two cloaked sailors, Donald held a cross-shaped gun, and the smell emanating from the corpse made him subconsciously furrow his brow.
"That's going too far," he said in a deep voice.
Cass said angrily, "Even in war, this kind of thing should not be done to civilians."
Judging from their shapes, these corpses were all elderly people, women, and children; there were no men at all.
This is a small, weak village, and those who wage war actually targeted the elderly, women, and children.
These are all ordinary people!
Cass gritted his teeth: "Unforgivable, absolutely unforgivable!"
Wilbur lowered his hand, his expression solemn. "Mr. Kuro said that everyone has a natural identity, whether they're a Marine or a Pirate. If these people die, no one can be blamed. But the only ones without a natural identity are civilians. No one should harm civilians!"
“Evil people, let alone justice!” Cass roared.
Wilbur nodded: "Even though we are a navy bound by rules, there are some things that must be judged by justice!"
The navy is not supposed to interfere in national affairs in principle, but when it comes to justice, how can we interfere so much?
Kas directed the navy to collect the bodies, then turned around and headed towards the town of the Kingdom of Raya.
This island has many villages, but only one town, which is the 'Fruit Domain' located in the center. It is the capital of the Kingdom of Raya.
Unlike typical towns that are entirely made of wood or stone, the buildings in Guoyu are a combination of trees and stone, constructed on the foundation of massive fruit trees. This blend of primitive and civilized elements gives it a unique charm.
The largest of these buildings is a giant tree, whose trunk can be used as a street for people to walk on, while the top canopy has been transformed into the shape of a palace.
"Sir Navy officer, welcome, welcome!"
The king, a portly, dark-skinned man wearing a pineapple crown, was holding Cass's hand, his eyes filled with tears.
Please, please save us!
King Randolph of the Kingdom of Laya cried out, "The enemy is too barbaric! They have killed many of our people and caused widespread panic in the country. We can't hold on any longer! We really can't hold on any longer! Please help us resist these enemies, for the sake of our territory in your waters!"
Don't worry!
Cass, his face serious, grasped Randolph's hand firmly and said, "If it is an act against justice, we will definitely stop it!"
"That's right, justice cannot be tainted! If you see it and do nothing, then you are violating justice!"
Wilbur pulled a book from his pocket, flipped through a few pages, and said, "On page five, section eleven of 'The Sayings of Justice,' Mr. Kuro says: 'Justice is an act of the heart.' Therefore, we will protect the civilians and will not stand idly by while anyone arbitrarily slaughters them!"
Donald frowned slightly at these words. Was that how it was said?
Wilbur's words sounded somewhat familiar to him, because Lieutenant General Kuro had once said, "One should act with conscience."
Is this a variant of the statement?
Or perhaps Wilbur embellished it slightly for the sake of keeping a record.
"Thank you so much! Thank you so much!"
Randolph's body swayed with excitement.
Out of consideration for his position, Donald still said, "We may not necessarily take action against the enemy. We are just the navy, not the guards of your kingdom."
Because G-3 just called, meaning to investigate thoroughly before making any decisions, to be strictly mindful of one's stance, but if one really can't resist, then action is permissible.
The implication was that he completely disregarded the neutrality of the World Government and the Navy; that's how arrogant he was.
When Donald was a ranger in the Flower Kingdom, he had some understanding of the Navy. His impression of the Navy was that they were strong but couldn't control him. But since he joined Cass's forces, he found that this was not the case.
The naval faction led by Vice Admiral Kuro and his ilk seems to treat the naval rules as nothing more than a piece of paper.
You can read it when it's useful, but when it's useless, you'd feel uncomfortable even wiping your butt with it.
Lieutenant General Kuro is like that, which leads his subordinates to act in the same way.
But just in case, Donald felt he should say something.
So that the king might not use them as troops.
Even if the navy is going to do something, it's for itself, not to be someone else's pawn.
"I understand, I understand. Even if it's a peace talk, a peace talk is fine. Just don't let those despicable enemies invade my kingdom."
Randolph said, "Of course, it would be best if you stopped it, and for that I can double the tax revenue I'm supplying you this year!"
“No need for that. We will stop evil even without any conditions,” Cass said. “So, who is the enemy, and why are they invading this place?”
"It's Dressrosa!"
Randolph gritted his teeth and said, "That damned new king, I don't know what's gotten into him, he's been going on a crazy conquest lately. This place is so far from his territory, why is he attacking here?! He's gone mad!"
"Dresrosa?"
The group of people exclaimed in surprise at the same time, and then exchanged glances.
"Yes! Dressrosa!"
Randolph nodded vigorously: "That evil country was evil even when Doflamingo was in power! Now it's even more evil. It's missing the Seven Warlords of the Sea, but it has a king who dreams of conquering other countries! Your Navy must take care of it, and the World Government must take care of it too. I'm a member state, a member state!"
He thought the navy was just surprised, after all, Dressrosa's recent madness was well-known in the area.
Completely unafraid of being investigated by the world government, all they thought about was conquering, conquering, and conquering again.
Randolph couldn't understand what the point of having such a large territory was. It was all ocean, and in the end, wouldn't someone else just take over?
Safeguarding our own territory is the right thing to do.
