28? Chapter 28

Chapter 28

◎This repressed yet passionate man came specifically to seduce him, but he rejected him!

"Open the door," Lan Hua said to the AI, Notos. The hatch of the God of the South Wind opened automatically at Lan Hua's command, and then closed again after Regas entered.

The interior lighting of the South Wind God remained off, with only the main control panel and screen emitting a cool light, casting a dim glow over the entire interior of the warship.

Lan Hua could hear Regas's approaching footsteps. He didn't get up, but simply turned the command seat towards the command hatch door. The figure at the doorway grew larger and clearer as the footsteps drew nearer. The figure outlined in the dim light possessed the most perfect human proportions, with handsome and deep facial features. The hatch was like a picture frame, and this figure was the greatest masterpiece.

"Stop." Lan Hua suddenly called out before Regas entered the command cabin. The figure stopped in response.

"Let's take a picture," Lan Hua said to the AI, Notos.

Notos: "..." It's the warship's main brain!

But even the most powerful warship's main computer must obey its master's orders, no matter how unreliable those orders may be...

“Not bad, perfect.” Lan Hua looked at the newly recorded image on the quantum computer bracelet, nodded in satisfaction, and then said to Regas, “Come in.”

Regas simply smiled at Lan Hua's erratic behavior, showing no anger whatsoever. He walked to Lan Hua's command seat and stood there, his posture still upright even in a relaxed state.

"Is your headache better?" Regas asked.

"Alright now." Lan Hua leaned on the armrest with her elbow and rested her chin on her right hand, and laughed. "It was completely healed after the Philosopher's Stone was destroyed. Shouldn't you know that best?"

Regas didn't refute. He hummed in agreement and said, "I just wanted to confirm it again." After all, there were some things he wasn't entirely sure about.

"Did you come here alone just to ask this?" Lan Hua asked with a light laugh.

“I just wanted to come see you,” Regas said. Even after countless calculations, he couldn't be certain of escaping unscathed from the battle against the “God-Man.” When the dust settled, the first thing he thought of was seeing Lan Hua.

"So, you're just making conversation for the sake of it?" Lan Hua said deliberately.

“I just don’t know how to bring it up,” Regas said frankly.

“You weren’t like this before.” Lan Hua raised an eyebrow and smiled. “You used to talk to me so naturally and intimately.” The old Regas was like the most perfect lover in the world, yet Lan Hua could still sense the danger and sharpness beneath that perfection. He was like a lover tailor-made for Lan Hua, perfectly matching all her hobbies and tastes.

However, perfect fits don't exist naturally; only human intervention can create such flawless harmony. Regas understood this, and so did Lan Hua. But what did it matter? They were simply each getting what they needed.

“Because there’s something to be afraid of,” Regas said in response to Lan Hua’s teasing.

Lan Hua stood up. Even someone as picky as Lan Hua had to admit that Regas's appearance was so handsome that he couldn't find anything to criticize. Especially in this dim environment, it was easy for damp, dark, and ambiguous thoughts to arise.

"What a schemer!" Lan Hua cursed inwardly. Regas had a perfect grasp of Lan Hua's preferences; even in this half-open situation, he constantly created an ambiguous atmosphere. He claimed to care, confessed his past seductions, seemingly intending to pursue genuine feelings, but his actions were a new round of seduction tactics. And Lan Hua, unfortunately, fell for it.

Lan Hua approached Regas, the two standing very close. Lan Hua reached out and touched Regas's face. "This face, how can it be so alluring? You must take good care of it." Lan Hua's love for Regas owed much to his appearance. If Regas hadn't been disfigured, Lan Hua felt he would still be the best choice for a lover.

“Okay,” Regas replied.

Lan Hua: "..." He felt like he was the one being teased. Regas was even more shameless than him.

Regas grasped Lan Hua's hand and asked, "May I kiss you?"

"Didn't you come at the perfect time?" Lan Hua said with a smile.

Having just survived a life-or-death battle, the solitary, dark, and enclosed space made it impossible for Lan Hua to resist the sight of her body and face... Lan Hua was also someone who wouldn't suppress or wrong herself. Even if she had a score to settle with Regas, she wouldn't force herself to eat what she wanted.

Regas grasped Lan Hua's chin and kissed her earnestly. Their lips lingered, but both knew that their feelings were mixed with too many things, both internal and external. Their relationship began with desire, pretense, and deception, intertwined with selfishness and self-righteous affection. They possessed everything that others envied: status, position, ability, and wealth; seemingly rich, yet still impoverished in some aspects.

Even he himself wasn't sure how pure his love for Lan Hua was at this point. Love was something too illusory and ethereal for him; he was used to controlling everything and calculating gains and losses. Lan Hua's move was his only miscalculation and loss of control, but it was still mixed with too many other things.

Lan Hua understood him and knew him well. Her liking and love didn't stem from him, but from herself. Ironically, Lan Hua's infatuation with him originated from his selfishness and baseness. What Lan Hua liked was a kind of hurtful stimulation shrouded in perfection—dark, obscure, and frivolous, secret and rare.

Their selfishness and twisted nature makes them infatuated with each other, but when a genuine, pure feeling arises, that strange infatuation and balance is broken, and that addictive attraction fades because of that pure feeling.

Lan Hua pushed Regas away, sat back in the command chair, and breathed a little rapidly. That Regas had no sportsmanship; his kissing skills had even improved, almost making Lan Hua lose his composure. He wanted to tear the guy's clothes off.

"You've been here for two years, have you been keeping a mistress?" Lan Hua asked, glancing at Regas leaning against the command platform.

"No." Regas's collar buttons, which were fastened to the top, were torn open by Lan Hua's claws during the kiss, and his tie knot was pulled loose. His eyes, which had been flushed with passion, regained their clarity after being pushed away. He leaned against the control panel, slowly and methodically adjusting the collar that Lan Hua had pulled open, his slender fingers with distinct knuckles, his movements elegant and composed.

“That’s true.” Lan Hua’s gaze lingered on Regas’s hand as she said, “If you can still find someone else after going through me, then I’ll have to praise you for not being picky.”

Regas smiled. "I'm picky." Having experienced the best, why would he settle for someone else? Besides, he always wanted the best and never compromised. If that person hadn't been Lan Hua, he might have used a different approach instead of doing it himself. From the very beginning, he was driven by selfish motives.

The dimly lit environment, the blue-purple cold light emanating from the screens and instruments, gave his already handsome face a touch of mystery. Coupled with his slender and upright figure and composed and elegant movements, Regas was alluringly abstinent.

Lan Hua's gaze darkened. He was 100% certain that Regas was doing it on purpose—that repressed, horny man! Lan Hua never wronged himself; since this man had aroused his desire, he didn't hold back and asked directly, "Shall we do it?"

Regas turned to look at him and smiled, "I would love to, but—" He paused, then continued, "I cannot agree to that for the time being."

Lan Hua: "!!!" He was actually rejected! He! Was! Rejected! This is simply unbelievable! This repressed man came all the way here to seduce him, and then rejected him! Was he playing hard to get? Well, this jerk has successfully caught his attention again!

Lan Hua laughed in exasperation: "Is playing hard to get fun?"

Regas straightened his tie, his gaze gentle: "I really want to agree. But if I do agree this time, things might just stay this way between us." Indulging in a twisted relationship, wallowing in primal desires, experiencing fleeting, unrestrained pleasure, only to have the emptiness and regret that follow fill the void afterward.

In the past, he might have thought there was nothing wrong with this. After all, life is short but filled with too many things, and emotions are just a dispensable embellishment. His relationship with Lan Hua, regardless of its true nature, at least appeared dazzling and passionate, and they both got what they wanted.

However, this thought changed after he left behind his responsibilities and shackles, and broke free from the backdrop of royal feuds and entanglements to enter this universe. He discovered that his memories of Lan Hua had never faded. Therefore, he realized that perhaps his feelings for Lan Hua were far deeper and more enduring than he had thought.

“What’s wrong with this?” Lan Hua met Regas’s gaze.

After Lan Hua met Regas here, he witnessed Regas's transformation firsthand. He understood even more why Regas had changed. However, he wouldn't allow this change! What he was infatuated with, what drove him mad, was this poisonous love. He didn't care about pure, unadulterated love; it was something he had always disdained.

If Regas simply wanted to change things, Lan Hua would naturally have abandoned him. However, Regas was subtly manipulating Lan Hua's boundaries while testing the waters to alter their relationship. This was a problematic situation—it was like having something delicious but also something you couldn't bear to throw away…

“You deserve better,” Regas said.

Lan Hua: "It was fine as it was before." He genuinely believed that. Just as Regas's idea that it was better was merely Regas's one-sided opinion.

Regas was naturally aware of Lan Hua's views on love, or rather, the Lan family's consistent views on love. After all, the founding emperor of the Silver Glow Empire, Seloe Gamondon, had benefited greatly from the Lan family's views on love, but had also been severely harmed by them. His final summary in his notes was:

The love of the Lan family is merely a reflection of their own desires; the lovers they choose are simply vessels that conform to their aesthetic standards. They are narcissistic to the point of madness. Understanding their desires and conforming to their aesthetic standards makes winning their affections not incredibly difficult. However, truly falling in love with them is the beginning of disaster—because the Lan family, in reality, only loves themselves.

The latter half is the reality that Seloe Gallmont spent his entire life trying to understand, and ultimately had to accept. Regas, through his journal, successfully confirmed the first half. He once didn't care about the second half, but now he fears repeating the same mistakes.
