Chapter 21 The Dwarf's Hammer
☆
He was acting suspiciously, and the alleyway he frequented was not the direction he usually went.
In a secluded corner, She Ning unfolded the system interface and opened the storage compartment at the bottom.
The panel of small squares only had items in the first few rows: the Eye of Truth, rice, incense sticks, pepper spray, and the latest favorite, a magic cloak that I redeemed for 20 points at the system convenience store.
A magical cloak from the magical world, possessing the ability to become invisible and levitate, while also providing a certain degree of physical protection.
Remaining time: 28/48 hours
Wearing the magic cloak, She Ning followed She Yaozu at a leisurely pace. The alleys in the old town were small and old, like a maze, winding and deep.
She Yaozu was very familiar with this area. After several turns, he stopped in front of a courtyard covered with ivy. He looked around cautiously, and only after finding nothing unusual did he knock on the door.
Soon, faint footsteps came from the courtyard, and then the gate to the courtyard was opened from the inside. It was someone I didn't recognize. I don't know what She Yaozu said to him, but he closed the door, stepped aside from She Yaozu, and peeked out to look around the alley.
His gaze paused when it swept towards She Ning's location. His narrowed triangular eyes stared at her with a cold and fierce look, like a viper spitting its tongue. Even though she knew that wearing a magic cloak would prevent her from being discovered, She Ning still couldn't help but hold her breath when they met eyes, and a layer of sweat broke out on her back.
He stared at She Ning's location for a while, and even waved to her. She Ning used the cloak's levitation function to leave her original position before he arrived.
Finding nothing, he scanned the alleyway again to make sure it was completely empty before turning his attention away and leading She Yaozu to lock the door and enter the courtyard.
As the footsteps faded into the distance, She Ning patted her chest, took a deep breath, and then slowly and gently exhaled.
That guy is definitely a ruthless character; he's even seen xue!
As the man approached, She Ning smelled the earthy and bloody odors carried on the wind. This peculiar earthy smell usually only appears on certain types of people, and for it to be so strong, the man must be quite famous in the trade.
Given She Yaozu's petty thievery, he certainly wouldn't have the ability to befriend such a person. The only explanation for his current connection is his uncle, Lin Yejun.
The man was very alert; She Ning felt that he seemed to trust his ears and intuition more than his eyes.
"System, the convenience store has new items; I want to redeem them with my points!"
Whether it's a dragon's den or a tiger's den, She Ning is determined to explore this courtyard. If the hardware isn't enough, then he'll make up for it with external aids.
"New items have been added, please check." In his mind, the system remained as concise as ever.
She Ning opened the convenience store interface, and the items had indeed been refreshed: Mermaid Gun (30 points), Puppet Doll (30 points), Multi-functional Gloves (20 points), Dwarf Hammer (80 points), Ordinary Rice (10 points), and a random blind box (20 points).
With strange names, and considering the need to increase combat power, She Ning prioritized the Dwarf Hammer and Mermaid Spear, which looked more like weapons, and clicked on their descriptions.
Dwarf Hammer
Note: This hand hammer, from the Dwarf King, can be used to forge various weapons and has a chance to be enchanted (it depends on luck).
Uses: 3 times
Mermaid Gun
Note: This bubble gun from the Mermaid Kingdom can spray colorful bubbles, and each bubble can block one attack of unlimited magnitude.
Uses: 5 times
Neither of these were the weapons she wanted, so she clicked on the remaining ones. The regular rice was the cultivation rice she had drawn before, and the random blind box was exactly what it sounded like.
The puppet is a substitute item, and the shape-shifting gloves are shape-shifting items; the newly released items don't really meet her needs.
"System, refresh the convenience store application again," She Ning asked tentatively.
"Convenience store refresh cooldown time: 24 hours."
Can you give me a discount?
"No"
The cold, mechanical sound was colder than the knife that had been used to kill fish for ten years at RT-Mart.
Staring at the items on the screen, She Ning gritted her teeth and pressed the redeem button.
"Ding, the Dwarf Hammer has been redeemed. Please check your account."
On the system panel, a small, black hammer with a golden sheen lay quietly in the middle. She Ning took it out. The small hammer was only the size of a palm and was not very heavy, but when you held it, you felt as if your hand and the hammer were one.
As expected of an item worth 80 points, it's almost rare. After buying it, She Ning's points are almost used up.
She earned 80 points from opening blind boxes and another 50 points from recycling fish. She then spent 5 points and 20 points to redeem pepper spray and a magic cloak, leaving her with only 25 points.
So poor.
Out of sight, out of mind. She closed the interface, reluctantly using the dwarf's hammer as a weapon, and controlled her magic cloak to float into the courtyard from the wall. The man was alert; broken glass was installed on the wall, and traps were set on the ground in the courtyard.
Unfortunately, She Ning has a cheat code and isn't afraid at all.
In the middle of the courtyard, She Ning hid to one side and listened to their conversation. She Ning heard She Yaozu call that person "Brother Kun". After exchanging a few greetings, Brother Kun led She Yaozu to continue walking forward.
She didn't dare to get too close, so she followed from a distance. Brother Kun led her into a room, but She Ning couldn't keep up and could only watch as the door was locked and closed in front of her.
The two were talking in the room, the door was tightly closed, and it was impossible to enter without being noticed. She Ning wanted to poke a hole in the window, but unfortunately the windows were all made of glass.
Their voices were intermittent and not very clear, but she could vaguely hear words like "railway," "Ludong Mountain," and "the day after tomorrow." She Ning silently wrote down the information.
The curtains were hanging inside the window, making it difficult to see what was inside. She Ning looked from several angles and could vaguely see several large wooden boxes piled up on the side of the room.
Thinking of the earthy smell and the legend of Ludong Mountain, She Ning had some guesses.
Their conversation didn't last long, and soon She Yaozu came out with a bulging bag in his arms. He left in a hurry, his face beaming with an undisguised smile.
She Ning lowered her eyes in deep thought, glanced at the room, then went outside to find a secluded spot. When she came out again, she was already 1.8 meters tall, as She Yaozu.
"Why are you back?" The man opened the door and looked at "She Yaozu" strangely.
"Stop talking, the thing my uncle asked me to bring is left with you." "She Yaozu" said speechlessly, "When I was talking to you in the room, I put it down and forgot to take it with me. My uncle just kicked me, it hurts so much."
As he spoke, "She Yaozu" rubbed the outside of his thigh. There was a light gray footprint clearly visible on his dark blue jeans. He patted it hard, and light gray dust flew into the air.
It was a bit choking, and Kun sneezed a few times.
"Come in so recklessly." Kun cursed under his breath as he opened the door and let him in, then turned and walked ahead.
Halfway there, he suddenly stopped, clutched his stomach, and bent over.
"Brother Kun?" She Yaozu looked at him in confusion and asked.
A sudden, sharp pain shot through my stomach, and I felt like I was about to vomit.
He took the room key off his belt and threw it to him. Then, pulling up his pants, he ran towards the public restroom outside, saying, "Go by yourself, I'll go to the restroom and be right back."
In the courtyard, "She Yaozu" held the key in his hand for a while before turning around and going into the room.
After Kun Ge finished relieving himself and returned, "She Yaozu" had already taken the things, locked the room door, and was waiting for him at the door.
"What did you bring for your uncle?" Kun Ge stepped forward, took the keys, and looked closely at the bag in "She Yaozu's" hand. His triangular eyes narrowed slightly, and he greeted him with a smile.
“These are fried triangular snacks made by my mom.” “She Yaozu” opened the bag to show him the golden, triangular fried snacks, which looked delicious. Kun Ge reached out to take one, but “She Yaozu” turned around and dodged.
"Brother Kun, please don't! You know my uncle. If one of us is missing, he'll kick me a couple more times." He pleaded with his hands clasped together as he walked towards the door. "Brother Kun, I'm in a hurry, I'm leaving now."
After saying that, he quickly walked out.
In the courtyard, Kun stood up and followed him with his eyes until his figure disappeared outside the gate. He then turned around, unlocked the door, and went into the room.
He opened all the wooden crates and checked them, finding that the contents were intact and still in their original positions. He closed the wooden lids, re-tied the crates, and then locked the door again with peace of mind.
On the other side, after "She Yaozu" ran out of the gate, he found a secluded spot where no one was around, took off his ever-changing gloves, and the 1.8-meter-tall She Yaozu became the 1.55-meter-tall She Ning.
Clutching her heart, She Ning took a few deep breaths, and her pounding heart calmed down a little.
