I'm a Doctor in the Apocalypse

My name is Lu Xiaonan, and I am a doctor. Three days ago, my friend Su Ming told me that the entire world would face a catastrophe and fall, and to be prepared. At the time, I didn't believe hi...

Chapter 100 Going Home

(Wow, it's already a hundred chapters! How about you guys give it some recommendations and add it to your favorites for the sake of a hundred chapters?)

On the way back, I was restless.

Lu Jing wanted to comfort me, but after a few words, I just kept nodding and didn't say anything, so she didn't say anything more.

I try not to think about my parents, but the more I think about it, the more I want to know how they are doing. This is a very bad state of mind, and I know very well that if this continues, I will definitely have mental problems.

"Xiaonan, Xiaonan," Lu Jing called my name twice from the side.

I was stunned at first, until her hand patted my shoulder, and I asked in surprise, "What's wrong?"

"Look ahead," Lu Jing said, pointing to the road ahead.

I looked closely and discovered that there were actually two people waving at us from ahead!

The two men were standing next to a car, waving their hands at us, as if trying to get me to stop.

I didn't expect to run into two living people here. I was a little at a loss for what to do. I exchanged a glance with Lu Jing, and we were both very wary.

If there were other forks in the road, I would definitely take one without hesitation and avoid running into the two living people ahead. But right now, there's only one path, so I have no choice but to go forward.

I stopped the car when I was still ten meters away from the other party.

One of them ran over to our car, smiled, and said, "Finally, we've run into some real people. Um, could you do me a favor?"

I didn't get out of the car, but rolled down the window and said, "What can I do for you?"

"That's right, our car is out of gas. Can we get some from you? Don't worry, I won't take it for free. I have water and food here, and we can exchange them, how about it?" the other party said with a smile, his attitude very sincere.

I glanced at the cars ahead but didn't notice anything unusual. This road was sparsely populated, and there were hardly any abandoned vehicles. If they really had run out of gas and were worried about stopping here, it would be understandable.

Lu Jing and I exchanged a glance, somewhat hesitant.

The person outside said, "Don't worry, we're not bad people, we're just refugees. My name is Sun Shichao, I'm a college student, and this is my classmate, Liu Yu."

The two of them do look very young, like college students.

"Jing, I'll get out of the car and take a look. You stay in the car," I said.

"Okay, be careful." Lu Jing nodded.

I opened the car door and got out, holding a machete in my hand.

Upon seeing my attire, the other person immediately took two steps back, raised his hand, and said, "Hey, buddy, we just want some gasoline, nothing else, really!"

I glanced at the machete in my hand and asked, "Are you really out of fuel?"

Sun Shichao nodded: "Yes, it's out of oil. You can come over and take a look for yourself."

I asked, "Where are you two from? Where are you going?"

Sun Shichao said with a smile, "We came from Ninghai. We heard about a safe zone in Jiajiang when we were at school, so we came here. Are you also here to find a safe zone?"

I stared at him, unable to discern whether his words were lies or the truth.

I shook my head and said, "I guess so, but you don't need to go to the safe zone, it's already fallen."

"Ah!" Sun Shichao was surprised. "Is that so? Okay then."

That's it? That's a rather bland reaction, isn't it? Before, when we found out the safe zone had fallen, everyone's faces were filled with disappointment. How come this kid doesn't seem to feel anything at all?

Sun Shichao seemed to see my confusion and immediately said, "I never thought we could reach the safe zone, so I didn't have much hope from the beginning. Now that you say it, it seems normal."

I nodded and said, "You don't mind if I check your car, do you?"

“Yes, yes, I really didn’t lie to you, we really are out of gas,” Sun Shichao said.

I approached their car, and the two men deliberately backed up ten meters to gain my trust. After checking and confirming that their car was out of gas, I got out of the car.

I asked, "What are you planning to trade with me for?"

"Are you really willing to trade with us?" Sun Shichao asked in surprise.

“I have some spare fuel, but I can only give you a little bit, just enough for you to find another car,” I said.

"That's enough, that's just a little bit," Sun Shichao said with a smile. He then opened the trunk of the car and said, "This is all we have. What do you want?"

They did have quite a lot of stuff in their trunk, including some things I really needed.

I said, "I want half a bag of rice, a bottle of soy sauce, two bags of salt, and this vacuum-packed chicken. Is that alright?"

I didn't take much, and everything I asked for was extra. They had two bags of rice in the trunk; taking half a bag wouldn't be unreasonable. There were three bottles of soy sauce, and even more salt—more than a dozen bags! As for the vacuum-packed chicken, there were three of them.

Sun Shichao gave a wry smile, "Brother, you've asked for a bit too much. This is all we have."

I chuckled. "Don't want to change? Fine, then I won't change. I'm leaving."

"No, no, no, big brother, let's talk this out. How about this: if you give us a little more oil, I'll give you what you want, okay?"

I thought about it, and this is a good deal. As for oil, besides what's in my Mercedes, there's plenty in the pickup truck.

"Okay, but I want to add three more bags of salt, making a total of five bags. Adding that to what I just mentioned, is that alright?"

"Okay, deal!"

Sun Shichao looked pained, but I knew he was secretly laughing.
