Earth stopped turning and doomsday arrived.
Disasters came one after another, and humanity, in order to survive, finally exposed the darkness hidden within their hearts.
Deception and b...
So he perked up his ears again and began to listen.
A few minutes later, another noise came, and this time even Xiwen heard it.
Xiwen stared wide-eyed and pointed to a lit room in the distance. Lu Yuan nodded as well, the voice seemingly coming from that direction.
So the two of them rushed into the house.
The door was ajar and opened with a gentle push. Inside, an oil lamp was still lit. As the door opened, the lamplight flickered, casting long shadows of the two people on the ground outside, which looked particularly eerie and terrifying.
However, the house is not very large, and the layout is a very common type of self-built house in the countryside. The spacious living room is the entire house. The houses on both sides have collapsed, and there are some cracks in the roof slab. In order to prevent the floor slab from collapsing, the owner of the house specially found a long wooden stick to prop up the floor slab.
A quick glance revealed that besides a dirty table and two rickety stools, the only other things in the house were two haystacks by the door, covered in grease and stains, suggesting that someone had slept there.
The commotion just now came from this house, but when the two of them came in, they saw this scene: the whole house was empty. So where did the commotion come from?
Just as the two were feeling surprised, they suddenly felt a sound under their feet.
So Lu Yuan and his companion quickly retreated outside the door and squatted down in the dark to look inside.
Suddenly, there was a slight movement in the clump of straw. Then, a pair of small eyes peeked out from the gaps in the straw, found no one outside, and then disappeared again. The straw pile returned to its original state, as if no one had disturbed it.
Lu Yuan and Xi Wen exchanged a glance and immediately felt a bad premonition.
After waiting for a while, the haystack made another noise, followed by a bloody hand reaching out from the haystack, and then a woman with messy, straw-like hair crawling out from it. Her clothes were covered in filth, with buttons and zippers not fastened properly, just casually draped over her shoulders, and she was not wearing any clothes underneath.
The woman seemed to have a lot of trouble climbing out; it took her quite a while to finally emerge from inside.
"Look how scared you all are! There's nobody here, come out! Everyone, come out now that you've eaten!"
Upon seeing the woman's appearance, a hint of fear flashed in Lu Yuan and Xi Wen's eyes. Although the woman looked bloodied, she was clearly not injured. Moreover, the blood around her mouth and neck indicated that she had just eaten something.
In an instant, Lu Yuan felt a chill run down his spine. He looked back and saw no one. When he looked at Xi Wen, he found that the other person was even more surprised than him, and his face was deathly pale.
Xiwen swallowed hard, then made a retreat gesture.
However, Lu Yuan thought that since they were already here, they might as well talk to them. The cannibalism incident was no longer particularly interesting. In these years of famine, who cared about human rights? As long as they could keep themselves alive, they didn't care about anything else.
Seeing that Lu Yuan had no intention of leaving, Xiwen had no choice but to adjust her posture and try her best not to make any noise.
By this time, seven or eight people had crawled out of the room. There were men and women among them, and everyone's face was covered in blood. Some of them were even licking their fingers as if they hadn't had enough.
Finally, a burly man crawled out, pulled up his pants, and then lewdly grabbed the first woman's chest, eliciting a coquettish groan from her. However, the blood-soaked mouth made Lu Yuan feel nauseous.
Lu Yuan took out his pistol, then suddenly stood up and appeared in front of the door.
The commotion outside immediately alerted the people inside. When they saw the pistol in Lu Yuan's hand, their first reaction was not fear, but curiosity.
"Hands up!" Lu Yuan shouted at them.
However, none of the people seemed to make any move, still looking at Lu Yuan with expressions of surprise.
Xiwen stood on the other side, forming an angle with Lu Yuan, thus preventing anyone from appearing behind his teammate.
The burly man looked at Lu Yuan with a disdainful smile.
"Outsider?"
Lu Yuan ignored the other party and pointed his pistol at him again.
"Don't force me to shoot, I'm here to borrow something from you!"
The man turned around and sat down on the rotten table in the room, seemingly unconcerned.
He crossed his legs and looked at Lu Yuan with an indifferent expression, as if Lu Yuan was the one who had a gun pointed at his head.
"Borrow something? Ha! This is the first time I've ever seen someone borrow something like you! Tell me! What do you want? I'm not lending this for nothing. Judging from your appearance, you must be outsiders. You're sure you won't be able to return what you've borrowed!"
Just as Lu Yuan was about to speak, the other person slowly walked up to him, seemingly unconcerned about the gun in Lu Yuan's hand, and gently lifted the corner of Lu Yuan's clothes.
"Nice cotton-padded coat! A down jacket, no less! Tsk tsk tsk, you're living a good life! How about this, since you want to talk to me, show some sincerity, give me the cotton-padded coat, and we'll sit down and have a proper chat!"
Lu Yuan narrowed his eyes and stared at the other person: "What if I don't give it to you? I'm the one holding the gun now, don't forget that!"
