Chapter 394 The Night Before Departure

"Alright, the people who boarded the ship have made their decision. Don't say I'm being unreasonable. We'll take half of the food, and you can have the rest. What you do after that is not our concern! Everyone, take care of yourselves!" Qi Liang's voice carried a hint of smugness, like an executioner before killing someone.

The crowd below erupted into chaos. They wanted to fight, but since the weapons were mostly in Qi Liang's hands, they knew that if they actually made a move, they would only face death. So they dared not move and could only glare at Qi Liang and his men with their sharp eyes, hoping to kill them all with their gaze.

Lu Yuan looked at the smug Qi Liang and sneered. They had no idea how great the dangers on the ocean were, even though they seemed to have obtained the route map and specific coordinates.

However, the dangers they would face after going to sea were far beyond what these two things could solve, especially since Lu Yuan knew that they definitely didn't have much food left.

Sure enough, someone next to the other party gently tugged at Qi Liang, who immediately jumped down from the platform and ran eagerly to Lu Yuan: "Boss Lu, you're here! We're all ready, how about we cooperate?"

Lu Yuan glanced at the other party coldly: "What do you think I need to cooperate with you on? To pave the way for me or something?"

Qi Liang was stunned for a moment. He didn't know what he could do for Lu Yuan. They only had an advantage in numbers, and they hadn't prepared other daily necessities, food, and fresh water yet.

However, even with minimal use, their current resources are barely enough for them to travel to Taiping Island, and that's assuming a smooth journey. But the winds on the ocean don't always blow in one direction like they do in the valleys.

Crosswinds on the sea and floating glaciers and reefs everywhere pose unpredictable dangers to them; how could they possibly leave safely?

Qi Liang gritted his teeth: "Then tell us what you need us to do, and we'll do it, as long as you can share some food with us!"

"I'm sorry, I really don't know what I need you to do! Take care!"

After saying that, Lu Yuan turned and left, ignoring the other person.

Qi Liang gritted his teeth, wishing he could go up and shoot Lu Yuan directly, but he didn't dare. He still remembered the horrific scene of Huang Feng's death. Lu Yuan was definitely not as gentle and weak as he appeared on the surface. He was definitely a cunning and ruthless master.

It seems that preparations in the East District are almost complete, and the sound of their transport planes taking off can be heard every day in the Rift Valley.

During this period, they have been training the take-off and landing process every day, and the personnel seem to be almost configured. Similar to Qi Liang's side, they have also been divided into two groups. One group is the people who are to be taken away, and the other group is to be left here.

Among the crowd, a man, a woman, and a child caught Lu Yuan's attention. He glanced at them through the dim light and saw that one of them was Liu Tiantian and the other was her husband, Sun Zhe.

However, the two looked so miserable that Lu Yuan almost didn't recognize them. They were skin and bones, their eyes sunken in their sockets, and their bodies were covered in filth. They were shivering and huddled in a corner, holding the child, not daring to make a sound. Clearly, they were the ones who had been abandoned.

Lu Yuan sighed, then walked over quietly.

Seemingly sensing someone approaching from afar, Sun Zhe quickly gripped the dagger in his pocket and carefully examined the newcomer. To his astonishment, it was Lu Yuan. His eyes widened in disbelief.

"Brother Lu?"

Lu Yuan nodded, then waved to the other person and walked towards a sheltered mountain hollow.

Sun Zhe quickly grabbed his wife and child and ran after Lu Yuan.

Before he even got close, Lu Yuan heard Liu Tiantian crying.

At this moment, Sun Zhe no longer cared about saving face. He walked up to Lu Yuan, knelt down with a thud, and kowtowed repeatedly: "Brother Lu, please, save my family! They abandoned us. I beg you, for the sake of us being from the same district, please have pity on us! We'll do anything, even be their slaves, just save our child!"

Lu Yuan squatted down, gently helped the other person up, and patted the dust off their clothes.

"A man's knees are worth their weight in gold; don't kneel down carelessly!"

After saying that, Lu Yuan took out half a golden fruit from his pocket and handed it to Liu Tiantian.

"Don't take the child outside in this cold weather!"

With tears welling in her eyes and her whole body trembling, Liu Tiantian took the golden fruit, gently put it in her mouth and chewed it for a while, then put it in the child's mouth.

The child's entire body had become stiff. Although he was wrapped in thick clothes, in this cold weather, the child seemed unable to warm himself up on his own, as if he had been frozen to the bone.

Liu Tiantian cried as she tried to feed the child, but the child couldn't swallow at all.

Then, Liu Tiantian suddenly burst into tears. She seemed to have gone mad, kneeling on the ground and desperately calling out her child's name. Sun Zhe, who had just gotten up, saw his wife in this state and knelt down beside her again, then took the child into his arms.

The two of them hugged each other and cried for a long time, one of them almost fainting from crying.

Sun Zhe's eyes were vacant; he stood up dazedly, muttering, "The child is dead, the child is still dead..."
