Keeper's Survival Handbook. Remember three points: If it wants to kiss me, I will close my eyes and accept. If it wants to touch me, I will lie down and play dead. If it wants to mate with me, ...
This silver needle was specially prepared for this trip to the primeval forest. As soon as I heard that I could go to the primeval forest, I immediately looked up all the information and downloaded it, filling up my computer.
I heard that this was invented a long, long time ago when there was no high technology, and it was very useful.
It's strange that the top of the silver needle didn't turn black, but the bottom did. This means that the white part at the bottom is poisonous, while the top is edible. Of course, not at all. Silver needles aren't a panacea; they can only detect whether something is poisonous. They can't detect bacteria or other harmful substances.
It has to be said that this planet is indeed very similar to the Earth of the past. Many plants are not quite the same, but you can still vaguely recognize what they used to look like. This is quite good, at least you can tell what kind of plants are vegetables and what kind of plants are grass.
The primeval forest is truly vast; a single tree can be hundreds of feet thick and over a thousand meters tall. Standing beneath it, one feels unexpectedly small.
"So this is what a primeval forest looks like." Li Wenyang climbed a tree, picked a bunch of small, red fruit from it, and said, "What is this? It looks like grapes."
"I've never seen this before." The top part of the fruit was black and shiny, and it looked like it had been ripe for a long time. Although it really looked like a grape, the two of them knew it wasn't.
Fang Rong scanned the screen with the mecha and compared the similarity. The mecha's display screen was connected to the computer, and it could transmit messages and share data via Bluetooth. He downloaded all the data to the computer.
The images on the mecha were replaced one by one, and finally two similar images were found, one of grapes and the other of mulberries, with a similarity of up to 60%.
Especially the mulberry, the similarity is 65%.
"This should be it," he asked Li Wenyang. "Have you ever eaten mulberries before?"
This kind of rural fruit is not very popular and is basically extinct. Apart from some enthusiasts who grow it or some ancient trees that have survived for centuries, it is probably impossible to find it. Li Wenyang may not have even tasted it.
It turned out that Li Wenyang had not only never eaten mulberries, but had never even seen them before. "What are mulberries?"
"About the same size as this one, but twice the size." The mulberries were very small, a dark red that was almost black, and some of them weren't fully ripe yet, hence their bright red color.
"We can pick a few to take home and test if they're poisonous." He had tested them with silver needles; they weren't poisonous, but he still didn't know for sure.
"Okay." The two quickly climbed up and nimbly picked more than a dozen bunches.
Fang Hua is usually a foodie, but he doesn't like eating fruit and has little interest in it. In fact, he doesn't like anything with water in it, and he basically doesn't drink anything except milk.
The three continued on their way. It was late at night, and the path was unclear. Every now and then, they would step on a branch, startling the birds in the tree, which would then spread their wings and soar into the sky.
They ignored it and continued forward out of curiosity. Forests are actually quite dangerous, especially places like this with lush trees and plenty of fruit.
Because many fruits are left unpicked, they fall to the ground and rot. In addition, due to the lack of sunlight and sufficient rainfall, swamps can form. If you are unlucky enough to encounter poisonous fruits, miasma can form.
The three were lucky; at least they didn't encounter any swamps. However, the occasional rustling of grass and wind startled them, which was quite frightening.
"We're already quite deep enough; we can't go any further, it'll be dangerous." Fang Rong considered carefully. Although he had gained the most from this place, he couldn't ignore the lives of others.
“Okay.” Li Wenyang nodded. “Then let’s look around here and see if there’s anything we can eat.”
Li Wenyang couldn't stand eating boxed lunches all the time.
The person who can't stand it the most is Fang Hua. It's so sad that he can't eat Fang Rong's cooking every day.
Fang Rong opened the mecha scanner and scanned the items one by one. It was a bit tiring to look at them one by one. The scanner would display the types of vegetables and fruits that matched.
There are many wild fruits in the primeval forest, but very few vegetables that are actually edible. After all, it is difficult for them to survive. The nutrients are absorbed by the big trees, and some small trees will wither and die, let alone vegetables.
"It would be great if I could find some scallions or bok choy." These are everyday foods, but I've been craving them for a while since I've had them.
"I guess not." Li Wenyang jumped from one tree to another. "It's really not bad to be able to support a chef. We'll have food to eat every day from now on."
Fang Hua threw something that looked like a jujube at him, saying, "Fang Rong is mine, and only I can take care of her."
"Alright, alright." Li Wenyang dodged the jujube and shrugged helplessly. "I'm not going to fight you for it."
"You two stop fooling around." Li Wenyang was really something, knowing full well that Fang Hua was most bothered by this, yet he still teased him.
"Stop it, stop it." Li Wenyang climbed to a higher place. From his vantage point, he could see further and spotted a dark figure sneaking in from a distance. "Quick, climb the tree!"
Although Fang Rong didn't know what was going on, she still quickly climbed up the tree because of her trust in Li Wenyang.
He had a mech, and a wire shot out from the mech's wrist, anchoring itself to a tree branch and slowly lifting him upwards.
A dark shadow suddenly pounced, landing right where he had just been standing. Although he had a mech for protection, he was still worried about getting entangled and unable to break free...
Regardless, Fang Rong broke out in a cold sweat.
The black mass was enormous, about the size of a small calf, with strong, powerful limbs and eyes that emitted a faint green glow. It retreated back into the darkness immediately after its attack failed.
"What was that just now?" Fang Rong asked, still shaken.
"I don't know, but it's definitely not an orc." If it were an orc, it would have transformed and continued attacking long ago. Besides, orcs all have wings, but this one doesn't.
As he spoke, Li Wenyang reached out and grabbed a small, bright green snake, pinched off its head, and threw it to Fang Rong, saying, "Put this away for me, and I'll roast it and eat it when I get back."
