Chapter Thirty-One
-Xiao Lan-
"She hung up the phone."
Shaohan said.
Shaohan and I stared at each other, dumbfounded. She held her phone, frozen in place, speechless for a moment. After a long while, Shaohan gritted her teeth in anger and uttered a single curse word: "Damn it."
"Didn't you just miss the point?" I reminded her.
"How am I supposed to have time?" Shaohan shoved her phone back into my pocket in frustration, then pulled out her own phone and made a call. The phone rang twice before being immediately disconnected. "I haven't even had a chance to ask her for the address! I'm not saying she's crazy, but she wants us to come over? Fine, then at least give us an address!"
I patted her shoulder reassuringly: "You know she's always been a bit slow on the uptake."
"At least give me an address!" Shaohan clicked her tongue, poked her phone screen hard, and dialed the number again in frustration. "...I'm so fed up. What is she doing? She won't answer the phone."
Seeing how troubled the other person was, I kindly suggested, "Why don't you use a tracking talisman or a person-finding talisman?"
"One of the conditions for using a tracking talisman is that you must have the other party's aura to track them. Also, what is a person-finding talisman? Did you create it yourself? I've only ever heard of object-finding talismans."
"Then let's use a talisman to find things," I said, pouting. "It's not like we can't use it."
"Find a lost item talisman... Is a stool an item?"
"Then just treat her like an object—after all, she's just a stool, so it doesn't really matter."
"What you said makes sense... a good idea."
We hope she doesn't see this conversation, otherwise she'll definitely come to us crying, making a scene, and threatening suicide.
Without a second thought, the item-finding talisman was definitely useless against a living, breathing person like Stool. Having said that, Shaohan and I, with our unfortunate hearts, embarked on our journey to Stool's abandoned warehouse, determined to search for Stool's presence inside.
"How long has it been since she went back to her beloved little home?"
Shaohan frowned and complained, "Why is this place so dirty? Does she not clean at all?"
“Even if she wants to clean, she has to have a broom and dustpan first—she can’t even afford to eat, so why would she buy a broom and dustpan and use bottled water to clean?” I patted Shaohan on the shoulder. “Don’t complain. At worst, we can steal the brooms, basins, dustpans, disinfectant… from the Spellcasting Academy next time and then clean with her.”
"Why bother helping her with the cleaning?" Shaohan snorted. "Let her do it herself."
Dear viewers in front of the book, don't be fooled by Angela's current words; she's actually a person who's tough on the outside but soft on the inside. She might tell the stool to "clean itself," but then she'll secretly steal cleaning tools and be the most enthusiastic cleaner in the warehouse.
I had no desire to argue with Shaohan anymore. "Take a look," I said. "Find out which things inside have that guy's scent. You can use a tracking talisman to track her."
Shaohan squatted on the ground, holding her breath, and pulled out a worn-out sock from somewhere. She picked up a small twig and used it to lift the sock, her expression as serious as if she were preparing some kind of biological weapon. "This will do," she said.
"..."
I frowned at her, my smile freezing on my face. "Stay away from me," I announced loudly. "And by the way, don't touch me with your hands all day. Wait until you've washed them and disinfected them with alcohol."
Shaohan scolded me: "...That's so mean."
I remained unmoved: "Going too far won't help."
In the end, Shaohan managed to locate the stool's approximate location using the sock and the tracking talisman.
...Yes, just a rough estimate.
"Why is it just an approximation?" I asked. "You were able to find their exact location last time, weren't you?"
"Because that's only a short distance—the current situation is that the stool has already been taken by tram and is nowhere to be found. If we want to find its exact location, we can only have Fu running ahead while we chase after him. Are you willing to do that?"
"Even if you're willing, it's no use. After all, I don't want to ride your sword over there—I don't want to wave my hand and call it a stop halfway through, saying, 'Wait, I need to get off and throw up for a bit.'"
I:"……"
"Don't sound so disdainful of my sword-flying skills." I pouted. "Master said my sword-flying skills are excellent."
"He was just fooling you, and you actually believed him." Shaohan rolled her eyes. "Besides, he's a top-notch swordsman. He can fly faster than you, so you can't take his words seriously."
"Heh." I almost coughed up blood, having been stabbed several times. "Then what do you suggest? Don't make it sound like you're disgusted by my sword-flying skills." I said expressionlessly, "I've already said it before, for the entire day, please don't touch me or anything of mine with your dear hands—including my wife, my clothes, and so on."
“That’s easy,” Shaohan said. “If you dislike me, I’ll dislike you too—let’s take the tram.”
"The tram?" I disagreed. "Putting everything else aside, don't you think about how long it would take for the tram to arrive? Gu Yu and Deng Zi might not even be there yet. Why don't I go first, and then you can call Teacher Wu and ask him to take you there?"
"Rejected." Shaohan frowned. "Do you think there's any difference between Gojo Satoru sending me there and you sending me there on your sword?"
“…This won’t work, that won’t work, hey, you’re such a fussman.” I crossed my arms. “Why don’t you just pray that Dengzi successfully meets Guyu, Guyu gives Dengzi money, and Dengzi and Guyu return to the Spellcasting Academy together? We can see them both again as soon as we go back to school.”
"Then you should fly there on your sword first." After thinking for a long time, Shao Han finally blurted out, "I'll take the tram."
"What? Of course we all have to go together?" I said unhappily. "What do you mean I have to go first?"
Shaohan protested, "I think you're the one who's really causing trouble! I suggest one thing and you reject it, I suggest another and you reject it again. What good suggestions do you have? Are we supposed to fly there for such a close place?"
"No, where is it?"
"Asakusa," Shaohan said irritably, "Come on, go and search for yourself how close Asakusa is to Tokyo."
"..."
"……All right."
I thought it was far away, but it turns out it's so close.
I don’t need to use my phone to search for Asakusa, since Shaohan and I went there on a mission before. But I remember when Shaohan and I went there, there was no trace of Guyu in Asakusa.
"Is it possible that Gu Yu has legs and that she is conscious?" Shao Han stared at me with a look that said, "Her legs are not paralyzed, her legs can move—in short, she can run."
Me: "...Oh."
"Then you can take the tram." I shrugged. "I'll fly there on my sword. It's not far anyway, I'll be there in no time."
"Heh." Shaohan crossed her arms and let out a cold laugh.
I pretended not to hear Shaohan's laughter: "Anyway, after I get there, I'll meet up with Dengzi first, then find Guyu, and then come to meet you with Dengzi and Guyu."
"Keep an eye on them, make sure they don't start fighting. Even if they do, you can't get involved, okay?"
"Okay, okay," I said dismissively. "If you don't trust them, don't you trust me?"
Shaohan: "..."
However, knowing that Asakusa is close to here is one thing, but knowing the exact location of Asakusa is another—you know, when Shaohan and I went to Asakusa before, there was always an assistant inspector driving us there.
"Have a safe trip." Shaohan saw me turn on the navigation, take out the instant navigation device, and silently handed me two napkins after a moment.
She said, "Good luck."
Me: "Mm."
She added, "Make sure you don't fight with them."
Me: "Mhm."
She added, "Find a deserted spot before landing."
Me: "Mmm-hmm."
She said again, "Tell Dengzi to control her temper and explain the situation to Guyu."
I finally couldn't take it anymore. I frowned and said, "You're so annoying!"
"I care about you, and you're not happy about it." Shaohan pouted. "Then go ahead, be careful on the road."
"Okay, okay," I said dismissively. "I'll be careful."
