Lilith's Ledger

Heinrich thought he was coming to get married, not to serve as a dog, an accountant, a maid, a bodyguard, a toy, or a horse for a woman.

He was originally the heir to a noble title from a new...

Chapter 93 The Truth Behind the Divorce (Part 2) [VIP]

Chapter Summary: Unruly dogs need to be properly trained.

The scene quickly descended into chaos. Some people stepped forward to break up the fight, some joined in, and some scattered and fled.

Although Lilith knew that these ordinary people were no match for Heinrich in terms of fighting strength, she was still somewhat worried about Heinrich's safety.

However, considering her own precarious situation, she decided it would be better to escape first.

She ran into a dark alley, took off her mask and cloak, let her hair and skirt hang loose, and pretended to be just a passerby.

Just as she was about to leave from the alley entrance, she suddenly felt someone cover her mouth, grab her waist, and lift her up, pulling her back into the depths of the alley.

Lilith instinctively struggled and screamed, but then she heard the man whisper in her ear, his voice deep and gentle:

"It's me, don't be afraid."

Lilith immediately fell silent. Heinrich's body temperature gave her a physiological sense of security. But she was still very displeased, and she frowned, turned her head and glared at him fiercely.

Heinrich responded with a meaningful, enigmatic expression, a half-smile. He still didn't let go, carrying Lilith through a maze of turns into a nearby alley, then pushed open a door, locked it, and carried Lilith upstairs.

Through the glass window, Lilith saw law enforcement officers rushing into the alley outside, carrying torches and chasing after the ringleaders of the party brawl. She and Heinrich hid in the dark stairwell; they could hear the sounds outside, but no one could see them.

“I just heard a woman scream,” one of the law enforcement officers told his companion.

"There were only men at the crime scene, so they shouldn't be involved. Let's go, arresting them is the priority."

Before long, the firelight disappeared into the distance. Lilith finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Are you worried about me?" Heinrich asked with a smile, noticing Lilith's breathing. He let her sit on his arm, and with his other hand, he reached into his pocket, pulled out a set of keys, and opened the door.

“I just didn’t want to get myself into trouble.” Lilith rolled her eyes. “How did you get the key to this place? Where is this?”

“I previously invested in some real estate in Venice.” Heinrich raised his hand, gesturing for Lilith to be careful of the doorframe. “This building is for rent, and I’ve kept one for myself as a spare.”

"What are you keeping it for? To secretly have affairs with other people?"

The interior was simply decorated, reminding Lilith of the dark, shabby little room she had been locked in when Heinrich bought her. Her brow furrowed even more.

“It’s not impossible.” Heinrich carried her into the bedroom and sat her on the sofa by the bed. “You’re not my wife. Strictly speaking, it would be a kind of affair for us to be alone together.”

“It can only be called an affair if both people are willing. You forcibly pulled me here, that’s clearly coercion.” Lilith glared at him angrily, but her arms were still wrapped around his neck. “What do you want to do with me here? Lock me up and force me like before?”

"If you really want me to lock you up and force you, we can try it later. But we need to discuss and agree on the boundaries and safe words beforehand, so not today."

"Damn it! That's not what I meant!"

“I know. I just want to talk to you.” Heinrich didn’t do anything else, just held her and said calmly, “Lilith, you know perfectly well that I was very upset at that party, and afterwards you not only refused to see me, but also deliberately brought other men home. I was really hurt.”

Lilith fell silent. She recalled the dejection and helplessness she felt when she overheard people talking about her in the banquet hall. It was indeed very upsetting. Perhaps she had gone too far this time, but…

"But Heinrich, you deliberately let me see all this, didn't you?" Lilith remained nestled in his arms, her tone icy as she questioned him.

"You deliberately left that invitation, deliberately led me to the banquet, and then deliberately created chaos and a fight to protect my reputation... You did all this to make me feel guilty, to make me pity you, to make me feel sorry for you, right?"

"Yes. Because I really, really want to make up with you."

Heinrich was not surprised by her accusations. He knew how clever she was, and it was only natural that she would see through these little tricks.

"Actually... if it's just to make up, you don't need to do this."

Lilith cupped Heinrich's face in her hands, straddled his lap, and suddenly kissed his lips. Heinrich instinctively hugged her tighter, responding to her passionate and lingering kiss.

“All you have to do is walk straight into my room, hug me and kiss me, like this, and I’ll accept your request to make up,” Lilith said to him, blushing.

“But that would go against your wishes, wouldn’t it?” Heinrich asked, somewhat surprised.

“It’s just that I can be a bit awkward sometimes! So I sometimes hide my true feelings. I’ll try to be more honest in the future. But maybe not. It’s your duty to guess what I’m thinking; you were really good at doing that when you worked for me before, weren’t you?” Lilith lowered her head shyly. “If I really don’t want to see you, I’ll lock the door. But I also appreciate that you respect my wishes; that’s the most basic thing…”

“I know what to do,” Heinrich chuckled. “Thank you for telling me.”

"Now that you've gone to such lengths to put on this show, to show me how you're standing up for me, I can't just accept you as I am. I have to do something else to even things out with you."

Heinrich felt the air in the bedroom gradually warming up, and Lilith's hand on his face felt burning hot. Looking at such a beautiful face, he couldn't bear to scold her, no matter how outrageous her actions...

What would you do?

As he spoke, Heinrich unbuttoned his cloak, revealing a V-neck shirt underneath that boldly displayed his ample bosom.

Lilith turned her face away shyly. "I will...apologize to you. I'm sorry, Heinrich. I went too far this time."

Heinrich was taken aback. Before she could finish speaking, he couldn't help but pull her up again, press her onto the bed, and kiss her repeatedly until Lilith, panting, pushed him away.

“I haven’t finished yet!” Lilith pinched his cheek hard. “But I don’t want it to turn out like this every time. You have to promise me you won’t fight with people so easily anymore! You’re acting like a wild beast.”

Heinrich blinked and put on a docile expression. "Then you have to promise me that if I do anything wrong in the future, you can just tell me directly like this, and you can punish me however you want. Just don't ignore me anymore."

"If I've done something wrong... I hope you can... tell me."

"Really? But Master doesn't like anyone questioning her authority."

“I need to correct my mistakes to make progress,” Lilith said earnestly. “Although I have achieved success that everyone envies, I am still too young and too immature.”

"You've already done a great job."

"I know. But I still need to keep trying. You know... why I want you to wear a skirt for me?"

"Is it for equality?"

“Actually, it’s because…” Lilith’s gaze unconsciously drifted to Heinrich’s collar, “Sometimes I have a tiny bit of hope… that you can play the role of Mom.”

Heinrich was stunned, unsure how to respond. His mind was first reminded of Lilith's past experiences of losing her mother at a young age, which stirred a pang of sympathy within him.

"It's not really an act, I just want you to love me unconditionally like a mother... Okay, even I think it's ridiculous... Who looks for a substitute for maternal love in a man... Besides, I'm already an adult, I shouldn't rely on this kind of feeling like a child..."

“There’s nothing outrageous about it.” Heinrich looked at her earnestly. “Lilith, I’m so glad you trust me so much and tell me these things… Of course, I will love you unconditionally…”

As he spoke, the image of his mother's hate-filled gaze amidst the flames suddenly flashed before his eyes. Even a mother's love doesn't guarantee unconditional love. Especially not one for whom he himself had orchestrated such a tragedy…

“Heinrich?” Lilith noticed his distraction and realized that he didn’t have a mother either. “Are you thinking about… I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have brought this up.”

“Lilith… I wish you could love me unconditionally too.” Heinrich lowered his head, buried his eyes in the pillow and wiped away his tears. “Please don’t leave me, okay? Whether as a slave, a lover, a dog or anything else, I will stay by your side… Don’t abandon me.”

“I won’t abandon you,” Lilith told him earnestly. “I love you, I love you so much. Thank you for agreeing to wear a dress and fool around with me, and for going to so much trouble to comfort me. Sometimes I’m just… I’m just shy! So I don’t know how to express myself… but that doesn’t mean I don’t love you. And I promised you that I would take responsibility for the dog.”

"Woof." Heinrich suddenly lowered his head and rubbed against her.

Lilith felt her heart race uncontrollably. After all, Heinrich's bare chest had been displayed in front of her for so long; it was no wonder she couldn't help but have impure thoughts.

They were now just one step away from a complete reconciliation. She had been waiting for this for a long time. Heinrich had never disappointed her in this regard. Whether it was sweet and gentle, wild and intense, or a mix of control and pain, he was adept at every kind of play.

"What's with this shirt? Is it meant to seduce me?" she asked with a light laugh.

“Yes,” Heinrich replied with a smile. “You’re always too busy with work to pay attention to me. I have to put in a lot of effort to seduce you before you’ll even look at me.”

"This is so naughty. This kind of unruly dog needs to be tied up and properly disciplined." Lilith pushed him away forcefully and skillfully unbuckled his belt and held it in her hand.

She glanced around at the somewhat unfamiliar surroundings, suddenly feeling a strange thrill. Laughing, she straddled him, looking down at him and said:

“Prove to me, Count Schmidl, that you really do have a physical defect as rumored… I heard that's why your wife abandoned you. How pitiful. If you can make me comfortable tonight, I might consider keeping you and making you mine.”

"Yes, Master. I will never let you down."

[Author's Note]

Originally, I wanted to write about a feeling of mutual redemption and healing, but due to some objective limitations, the final result seems to be a little different from what I originally intended.

I can't help but ramble on a bit:

While Heinrich exhibits a masochistic side in intimate relationships, he is also a highly controlling and cunning individual (after all, he is the heir to a title and was raised as a leader from childhood). This explains his initial strong desire for Lilith to become his wife and his efficient pursuit of revenge. He is, of course, aware of the submissive nature of marital relationships. However, as he spends more time with Lilith, his submissive tendencies intensify, and his controlling nature and methods are used in the strange direction of "forcing her to continue treating him like a dog."

Lilith, on the other hand, is very successful in her career, making decisive and calm decisions, and is generous and cheerful in front of friends and subordinates. However, due to childhood trauma, she struggles with intimate relationships. In the early stages of the story (Volumes 1 and 2), she is at ease with Heinrich, mainly because at that time she genuinely only sees him as a pet, expressing her affection as if she were only liking a dog, without any pressure. But after they actually become lovers, she consciously learns how to maintain a healthy relationship.

It's roughly the story of two imperfect people gradually growing up.

The next side story might be Lilith's childhood story, which I've promised before. And I also want to write many more small, fragmented stories about the couple's daily life.

If you like it, please leave a comment! And shamelessly, I'd also like to ask for a five-star rating after it's finished airing. *kissing* [pleading emoji]
