Longevity for Two Thousand Years

Duanmu Ci, courtesy name Zigong, a native of the State of Wei in the late Spring and Autumn period, was a highly esteemed disciple of Confucius, who has lived for two thousand years.

Bu Tongxun understood and got out of the car to make the arrangements.

Duanmu Ci also got out of the car shortly after; a dinner party was waiting for him at the hotel.

Duanmu toasted Joseph, saying, "Welcome to China."

"It's an honor," Joseph said, raising his glass.

Logically, a banquet for foreign guests should primarily feature Western cuisine, as it's important to cater to the guests' tastes and ensure that the locals are not unfamiliar with Western food. However, due to Duanmu Ci's deliberate arrangement, the banquet's theme was Sichuan cuisine. Although the dishes were delicious, their spicy flavors didn't quite suit the Australian palate.

The dishes were exquisitely prepared, even showcasing the knife skills of Huaiyang cuisine. Faced with such a meticulously prepared banquet, the Australian negotiators could not directly express their dissatisfaction with the food or refuse it, after all, it was the host's good intention.

When arranging the banquet, Duanmu Ci made two requests. The first request was, of course, to "be good," to treat them with the utmost sincerity. However, the second request was "not to satisfy them," which was quite puzzling. It's undoubtedly contradictory to demand excellent hospitality while simultaneously striving to prevent the guests from being satisfied.

But this is exactly what Duanmu Ci wants, because he wants to defeat his opponent in some details first, so that victory can come faster.

A thousand years ago, during the Spring and Autumn Period, wealthy merchants would occasionally feel the urge to use their skills, and these Australians who came from afar became a perfect testing ground for them.
