Chapter Thirty-Seven: Bu Tongxun's Battlefield

No matter how absurd things happen in college, they all exude a youthful vibe, like a cotton quilt dried in the sun, carrying a nostalgic feel. But things in the business world are a different story; it's full of cutthroat competition and unpredictable twists and turns.

A few days ago at the Hilton Hotel, Duanmu Ci and the Tang family reached a preliminary agreement on a cooperation plan. However, this was only a verbal agreement and merely outlined a general direction; it was certainly not a formal agreement. To formally sign the cooperation documents, both sides would need to mobilize their best personnel and engage in a series of discussions and negotiations before a successful conclusion could be reached.

Every morning, after making breakfast for Duanmu Ci and seeing him off to work, Bu Tongxun would take off her kitchen dress, put on a smart black suit skirt and stockings, and go to negotiate with the Tang family's delegation in seven-centimeter high heels. Her imposing manner was as if she were facing a subordinate, and her opponents would often soften up at the sight of her.

Is Bu Tongxun gentle?

Of course she's gentle. A strong, independent woman in the city has taken on the role of housekeeper and cook. Her hands, which are usually busy signing important documents, are now used to cook for her husband. She gets up before dawn every day to make breakfast, which is already an incredible feat.

But she wasn't gentle. Duanmu Ci's sword strikes carried a hint of Zen, while Bu Tongxun's did not. In the years of business battles, she wouldn't easily give up until she had completely crushed her enemies, earning her almost the reputation of a "butcher."

She was only gentle to Duanmu Ci.

...

...

Today is the final round of negotiations with the Tang family. After this battle, the documents will be officially signed. This is related to the family's development over the next few years, and its significance is almost equivalent to opening up new territory. Bu Tongxun dares not take it lightly.

The negotiation took place in a building owned by the Tang family. When Bu Tongxun's car arrived, the Tang family, led by Tang Tingshu, greeted her at the entrance, which was considered a high level of courtesy.

Tang Tingshu said with a smile, "I hope that today's negotiations will have a satisfactory result for both sides."

Bu Tongxun replied, "That depends on everyone's sincerity in this cooperation."

Tang Tingshu simply smiled and then led Bu Tongxun and her entourage into the building. The negotiation took place in the conference room on the first floor of the building.

The two groups sat down on either side of the long table, laid out the relevant documents, exchanged a few polite words, and then began their heated debate.

The first to launch an attack was Bu Tongxun—

"Minister Tang, we have allocated a full 600 million US dollars for this cooperation with you on the Tang's Shopping Mall issue, and there is a high possibility that there will be follow-up funding. Under the current economic situation, this already shows our sincerity. However, the shares that you are willing to give up make it hard to believe your sincerity."

Tang Tingshu, a seasoned veteran, said, "Miss Bu, you are mistaken. The share ratio we offer has been rigorously calculated by a professional team, and you will absolutely not suffer any losses! Please rest assured, Miss Bu." His Tai Chi skills were superb, undoubtedly a true inheritance from Wudang Mountain.

Bu Tongxun was not easily fooled. Shares were not ordinary, especially in such a grand occasion. Even adding a number greater than zero after a decimal would amount to a considerable sum in monetary terms. Therefore, neither of them was willing to back down or give in, and they were both gritting their teeth and stubbornly persisting.

Bu Tongxun said, "We request an additional 7.4% stake on top of the existing one. Only in this way can it match our capital investment!"

Tang Tingshu declined, saying, "Miss Bu, you are being too demanding. Tang's Shopping Mall is highly profitable and has no shortage of investment. Moreover, I believe that with the strength and status of the Tang family, any bank would be willing to lend to us. The Tang family has no worries about capital injection. The shares we are offering you are more than enough to express our utmost sincerity."

This statement was both assertive and domineering—come if you want, get out if you don't, the Tang family doesn't care.

Bu Tongxun gave a cold laugh. "Is what Minister Tang said true? I'm afraid not! We weren't completely unprepared. We did conduct some research before coming here—" She opened the documents in her hand. "In 2007, the Tang family began investing in cinemas, opening a total of 143 cinemas across 77 cities nationwide, and the number is still increasing."

"In 2008, the Tang family forcibly acquired a profitable listed company. It is said that in the following months, the Tang family began to scale back its operations, presumably due to insufficient funds."

"In 2009, the Tang family ventured into the real estate industry and won the bid for the Huaguo Building in the same year. It has been under construction for more than two years now, and it is suspected that the problem is due to insufficient funds and the untimely arrival of raw materials."

"In 2010, Tangjia Investment..."

"Miss Bu!" Tang Tingshu suddenly interrupted Bu Tongxun's incessant chatter. "Please forgive my rudeness. Miss Bu really cares about my Tang family. As the eldest son of the Tang family, I know less about them than Miss Bu does. You are truly a force to be reckoned with! But Miss Bu... after all you've said, what exactly are you trying to say?"

Bu Tongxun closed the documents in her hand. "Although the Tang family is wealthy and powerful, they have been making frequent big moves in recent years. Even if they have a lot of money, they can't possibly supply everything at once. They will definitely have to take out a bank loan! And the amount will definitely not be small!"

"Under these circumstances, the bank may not be willing to continue lending to you, and you may not dare to continue borrowing from the bank! Otherwise, if the cash flow breaks down and you are unable to repay the bank's debts in time, the Tang family may have to be auctioned off by the bank to repay the debts."

"In that case, the ones who truly need help should be... your side!"
