Yu Yao is a detective who firmly believes in materialism, and she trusts supernatural things the least.
Yet, ever since she was little, she could hear strange things.
At the crime scene...
Bai Fang shook his head and said it was hard to say.
When I first heard Liang Wan's story, I thought it was a bit strange. After I ran over to look for her, I felt that it was a bit like a missing person case after being kidnapped. Now looking at it this way, I still feel that something is wrong.
"Let's follow her and see where she's going." Yu Yao followed Bai Fang stealthily, trying not to make any noise.
This place is quiet and there are no people around. If you get a little closer, you'll easily be noticed by the other party.
The two people watched from a distance, comparing the girl with the photos repeatedly, and then confirmed that the girl was Liang Wan's roommate.
"She seems to be quite familiar with this place. She walks around and seems very comfortable." Yu Yao turned her head and looked around. She had no idea where she was.
"I think so too. After all, she has been here for a week. The fact that she is so familiar with the place means that she has been outside getting familiar with the environment instead of staying in a sealed space." Bai Fang stared at the girl's back thoughtfully. He saw her walking on the street. Suddenly, a cat appeared beside her with a piece of white paper in its mouth.
The girl squatted down, picked up the paper and took a look at it, then silently put it in her pocket and continued walking. After taking a few steps, she suddenly turned around and lightly walked into an alley at the corner.
The two people hurried over quickly. The corner of the alley was the place where it was easiest to lose someone. Once they turned the corner, the two would get closer to confirm each other's next direction.
But just after turning the corner, the two of them suddenly stopped at the entrance of the alley, and their sight caught sight of a crowd of people waiting for them in the alley.
Yu Yao glanced at the girl who had hidden behind the crowd and the people with bad looks in the alley. It was obvious that the girl had noticed them and brought them here on purpose.
During the time this girl stayed here, she was not in any way in conflict with these people.
"Who are you? Why are you sneaking around here and following people?" A young woman's voice came from behind. She appeared behind the two of them without anyone noticing, blocking their way.
Yu Yao was stunned and looked back. A young girl appeared behind them without her knowing. She was wearing a white jacket, a light blue blouse, a white miniskirt and sneakers. She was very cute with one hand on her waist, but her face was full of suspicion and scrutiny.
Bai Fang turned around and glanced at her, then said calmly, "We're here to look for someone."
"Looking for someone?" The girl frowned, crossed her arms, and snorted softly, "Looking for whom? There are no strangers here except you."
Yu Yao quietly raised her finger and pointed into the alley, "That's the girl inside. We're here to find her at the request of her roommate."
"Huh?" Liang Wan's roommate asked in confusion, peeking out from the crowd. "Did Liang Wan ask you to come find me?"
She quickly squeezed out of the crowd and stood at the entrance of the alley. She glanced at Bai Fang and Yu Yao, and asked thoughtfully, "How is Liang Wan?"
Yu Yao nodded hesitantly. "It's okay. I was just a little worried about you. I even went to the police station to report you. I hope to find you."
As she spoke, she secretly glanced at the people around her and whispered, "Are you...trapped here and can't leave?"
"Hey!" The girl behind stomped her foot angrily. "What are you talking about! Are we the same as human traffickers?"
"They look alike." Yu Yao muttered softly.
Liang Wan's roommate was stunned for a moment, then waved his hands with an awkward smile, "I wasn't kidnapped by these people, it was a misunderstanding, but I do have a reason for staying here and can't leave. I don't know what you heard from Liang Wan, but I feel the need to explain it again."
She turned and pointed toward the back of the alley. "Would you come with me to the back room and sit down and talk? This is quite complicated."
There were a bunch of people standing around her, so Yu Yao didn't dare to agree casually. She glanced at Bai Fang and waited for her response.
"That's fine." Bai Fang nodded slowly.
If you want to know the incongruity of the whole thing, you can only listen to Liang Wan’s roommate talk about her situation.
"Is it okay?" Liang Wan's roommate leaned over and asked the girl standing behind Yu Yao. It was obvious that she was the boss here.
The girl glanced at Yu Yao, snorted, and nodded.
The people who were blocking the alley finally made way.
"Then follow me this way." Liang Wan's roommate walked through the crowd to lead the way for the two of them.
Both sides of the small alley were lined with people, both men and women, all staring at the two of them, but they just stared, being wary of them, and didn't do anything.
Bai Fang and Yu Yao were led through the alley and to a small road behind the alley where there were many houses. Liang Wan's roommate led them into the living room of a house and asked them to sit down.
The houses in this area look relatively old, but the condition inside is still pretty good. They are clean and fully furnished, and you can tell at a glance that people live there regularly.
"Please sit down." Liang Wan's roommate pulled them to sit down, poured them each a glass of water, and said with a smile, "Don't be nervous. Let me introduce myself. I'm Liang Wan's roommate, my name is Wei Tian."
Yu Yao stared at her in confusion. She looked quite normal, not like being possessed or kidnapped, and there was no sound coming from her body.
"Hello, my name is Yu Yao. I'm the private detective commissioned by Liang Wan. She came to me after she thought you were missing." Yu Yao began to introduce herself.
"My name is Bai Fang. I'm a psychological counselor. I met your roommate with her." Bai Fang also briefly introduced himself.
"Is that so?" Wei Tian smiled thoughtfully. "I don't know what Liang Wan told you, but I wasn't kidnapped. If I were missing... maybe I could be considered missing, but it's not convenient for me to go back."
"Can you tell us in detail why it is inconvenient for you to go back?" Yu Yao asked.
"Well, it's okay." Wei Tian nodded and was about to say something when a calico cat suddenly ran in from outside the door, jumped onto Wei Tian's knees, and rubbed her fingers tenderly.
"Tuantuan is back." Wei Tian smiled and lowered his head to touch the cat.
Yu Yao was stunned, her mind feeling confused.
Tuantuan, she remembered, was the calico cat Liang Wan raised. Shouldn't it be at Liang Wan's place? Why was it here?
"By the way, let me tell you something." Wei Tian raised his hand and pointed at the group of people crowded at the door who had not entered the house. "Those are not my kidnappers. They are here to help me. The leader is the girl from before, Liang Yubai."
Yu Yao nodded slowly. Liang Yubai should be the girl who suddenly appeared behind them just now. She was very wary of the two of them.
"I don't know how much you know about this matter, so I'll start with what I know. But before you listen, you have to put aside what you heard from Liang Wan and don't believe her." Wei Tian frowned seriously, touched the cat in her arms, and began to explain why she hid here.
"It all started when I came back from playing outside for a few days."
"When I got home that day, I found Tuan Tuan downstairs. He's a house cat that rarely leaves the house. He was huddled at the stairs, terrified, and didn't move. I thought he'd escaped accidentally, so I carried him upstairs."
"Liang Wan, I'm back." As soon as Wei Tian opened the door and returned to the house, Tuan Tuan in his arms suddenly became furious, grinning and whispering towards the house.
"What's wrong?" Wei Tian quickly touched the cat, and when he turned around, he saw a cat he had never seen before in the middle of the living room. It was shiny black, and only a pair of brown eyes could be seen clearly. It squatted on the floor of the living room, staring at Wei Tian without blinking, wagging its tail leisurely. Compared with Tuantuan's ruffled appearance, it looked much more elegant.
"You, you're back." Her voice came from Liang Wan's bedroom, and then she appeared at the door, staring at Liang Wan.
"You have another black cat?" Wei Tian held Tuan Tuan in his arms, walked around the black cat and went inside.
The black cat had been squatting there without moving, turning its head to stare at Wei Tian's every move. The child in his arms curled up into a ball, not making a sound.
"Uh, yes." Liang Wan nodded, "It's a cat I found downstairs. It looks quite pitiful."
"We have a new cat at home, so we have to separate them for a while. Look how scared Tuantuan is. How can a domestic cat beat a wild cat? It was driven out of the house. I just picked it up downstairs." Wei Tian touched Tuantuan and walked to Liang Wan, intending to put Tuantuan in his arms back to Liang Wan.
But before he handed the cat over, Tuan Tuan in his arms suddenly exploded, bared his teeth and growled at Liang Wan, then turned around and jumped out of Wei Tian's hand and went into Wei Tian's bedroom.
"What's going on with this cat?" Wei Tian looked at the cat in confusion as it disappeared under her bed in the blink of an eye. She was too lazy to force it out, so she closed the door of her room.
The black cat in the living room slowly walked over, stuck to Liang Wan's feet, and rubbed her gently.
Liang Wan happily squatted down and stroked the cat's head, "So good, so good."
Wei Tian stood aside, hesitant to speak.
Why would he suddenly ignore the cat he had raised for so long just for a black wild cat?
"Of course I noticed something was wrong. Liang Wan isn't the type to get bored easily, especially with a cat she's had for a long time. That black cat has an indescribable weirdness about it, but it's just a cat, so I didn't pay much attention to it."
Wei Tian paused for a moment, lowered his head and touched the child in his arms, "But fortunately, I sounded a warning bell in my heart at that time."
"I went out for a walk and was very tired. I went to bed early that night, and then in the middle of the night, I was woken up by the cat's meowing outside."
"It was a very low, frightened cry. I knew it was Tuan Tuan the moment I heard it, and I woke up instantly."
The cat's meowing in the living room was so terrible that Wei Tian was frightened and quickly got up from the bedroom. When he turned on the light, he found that the bedroom door was half open and Tuantuan's shadow was no longer in the room.
