Love Scene: Evidence Not Allowed to Become Sentient

Yu Yao is a detective who firmly believes in materialism, and she trusts supernatural things the least.

Yet, ever since she was little, she could hear strange things.

At the crime scene...

Chapter 3

"Hello, I'm Bai Fang. Excuse me, were you the one who just called me to make an appointment?"

Seeing that Yu Yao was standing there tense and not moving, the other party took the initiative to walk forward. The fragrance of lemon that was somewhat inconsistent with this snack street hit her face, and it was as clean and fresh as the smile in front of her.

Yu Yao felt her heart beating unusually fast. She nodded, her voice stuttering, "Yes, it's me. Hello, my name is Yu Yao."

Yu Yao felt a little embarrassed about her flushed face and stammering speech. She unconsciously grabbed the straps of her overalls and wished she could pedal her little bicycle and escape from the scene as soon as possible.

"You look a little hot?" Bai Fang noticed Yu Yao's cheeks flushed. Considering the warm weather today, he smiled and reached out his hand, "Come sit upstairs with me. I'll get you some water."

Yu Yao nodded and followed Bai Fang upstairs.

After their eyes shifted and they walked one after the other, Yu Yao gradually calmed down and wanted to slap herself twice to wake herself up.

I have seen many beautiful sisters in my daily life, so why does her reaction now act like a 17 or 18-year-old girl who is just beginning to fall in love?

Is this love at first sight?

Yu Yao raised her eyes cautiously and glanced at Bai Fang's back, her cheeks flushed.

As expected, the beautiful long-haired sister looks different in the abstinent white shirt, so beautiful.

Bai Fang was completely unaware of the little thoughts in Yu Yao's mind. He took Yu Yao to the psychological information center on the second floor, opened the door, and invited her in.

Yu Yao walked into the house nervously. As soon as she entered, she could feel that the layout and style of the house was exactly the same as Bai Fang's, simple and elegant, without too much decoration.

A small pot of succulents is placed on the windowsill. The half-open fall-leaf window allows sunlight to shine through the window onto the fresh green plants, adding a touch of vitality to the simply laid-out house.

There is a computer on the table and a bookshelf next to it. In the middle of the small room, there is a table and a sofa so that people can communicate face to face.

Thinking that this was the space where Bai Fang usually stayed, Yu Yao felt a little excited. She walked into the house excitedly and took a general look at the whole house. She didn't even care about the two dumbbells sticking out from the gap between the boxes at the bottom of the bookshelf.

Yu Yao sat on the sofa, took the lemon tea handed to her by Bai Fang, and felt a little dizzy at the friendly smile.

Only after she calmed herself down by taking a sip of lemon tea did she belatedly raise her head.

etc?

dumbbel?

To make sure she wasn't seeing things, Yu Yao quietly glanced at the bookshelf. The lid of the box wasn't tightly closed, and the outline of dumbbells could be clearly seen. It seemed there were other fitness equipment inside, which didn't seem to match Bai Fang's outfit.

Could it be that it belongs to Dr. Bai’s boyfriend?

Yu Yao's emotions fluctuated greatly as she took two sips of her lemon tea.

It's normal for a beautiful sister to have a boyfriend, but it's still a little sad.

"Feeling better?" Bai Fang sat opposite her, his hands folded on his knees, his posture elegant and his smile friendly, which made Yu Yao feel very comfortable.

"Yeah, I feel much better." Yu Yao nodded and put down the cup in her hand.

Bai Fang stared at Yu Yao without blinking, as if sizing her up. "To be honest, although you seemed a little strange just now, I can see that you're in a very good mood."

"People who often come to me have some pent-up worries that they can't share with those around them. Over time, they become worried and come to me to vent and seek comfort, but Miss Yu doesn't look like she has any worries."

She curled the corners of her mouth, her smile gentle and kind.

Yu Yao didn't know where to start. Not to mention whether she could solve her auditory hallucination problem, just sitting here and listening to her talk made her feel relaxed.

She turned her head and glanced around the room, only then realizing that the reason she felt so peaceful and comfortable was because it was so quiet here.

There was no noise from any objects in Bai Fang's room, which was completely different from the noisy environment outside that could not be controlled and poured into his ears.

"There are no old things in Miss Bai's room, right?" Yu Yao looked around the room while talking to Bai Fang.

"The things in this room were all purchased in the past two years, so they can be considered new things. Do you like old things, Miss Yu?" Bai Fang responded calmly.

"I don't really like old things because they're too noisy. Maybe they're just bored, so they're always chattering." Yu Yao spread her hands, sat down on the sofa seriously, and stared at the person opposite her. "Doctor Bai, do you believe that things can talk?"

Bai Fang paused thoughtfully, then asked tentatively, "You mean you can hear old things, things talking?"

Yu Yao nodded, her face showing no sign of worry. She smiled and said, "I've been able to hear it since I was a kid, but the examinations showed nothing wrong, and the psychiatrist couldn't fix it either. I treat it as auditory hallucination. Although I don't want to admit it, this is not normal, right?"

"Can you hear things talking?" Bai Fang's eyes lit up with a smile, "It sounds interesting."

She smiled and narrowed her eyes, "So what were those sounds you heard?"

Yu Yao thought for a moment and said, "Depending on the object, the sound you hear will be different."

"The old statue in the square has a voice that sounds a bit old, like an old grandfather, and the small flower bed underneath it has the soft and tender voice of a child."

"The sound of the air conditioner is mostly a deep, magnetic male voice. Depending on the brand, there is occasionally a female voice. If you imagine the image based on the sound, it is probably a mature woman and a mature man."

"Washing machines usually make a very gentle and crisp sound, but when they are running they are very aggressive and many of them are swearing the whole time."

"Also, commonly used tables, chairs, and benches are rarely seen. The ones you see outside are all new. The ones you can hear are all stone tables and stone chairs, and the sound is almost like that of statues."

"Perhaps the sound varies depending on the object."

Yu Yao described the different voices in her memory to Bai Fang in detail.

Bai Fang sat quietly opposite Yu Yao and listened to her description until she had roughly recounted several of the sounds that impressed her the most.

"That sounds very interesting. Ms. Yu said it was an auditory hallucination, which I find a bit unbelievable because the voices you described have personalities and ages. They sound like they have souls."

"If these are indeed auditory hallucinations, then Miss Yu's world is very interesting."

"But, is Miss Yu troubled by this now?"

Yu Yao thought for two seconds and shook her head.

I used to be troubled by it, but now it doesn’t matter anymore.

Bai Fang smiled and said, "I don't think Miss Yu seems to be troubled."

"I don't have that kind of auditory hallucination, and I don't know what the problem is. But if Miss Yu is not so disgusted, why not try to relax and accept it? You can chat with those voices when you are bored."

"If I were Miss Yu, I would really like to have some time to calm down and listen to those experienced people tell their stories."

As Bai Fang spoke every word, Yu Yao's eyes sparkled, and she stared at him with joy, "Is that what Doctor Bai thinks?"

"Because of the annoyance caused by these sounds, I have never thought about accepting them. Normally, I don't want to hear them. But after hearing what Dr. Bai said, I feel like I can accept it a little bit."

She clenched her fists excitedly. "Because of this sound, I can't work with other people like ordinary people, so I chose the career of a private detective. Now that Doctor Bai mentioned it, I feel that although I can't rely entirely on these sounds to work, it's not bad to listen to them occasionally as a radio!"

Seeing Yu Yao's cheerful look, Bai Fang nodded. "Ms. Yu is indeed very optimistic. Compared to other guests I've met, you're the only one who doesn't need too much comfort."

"Because your auditory hallucinations made it difficult for you to work, you switched to being a detective. This also reveals Miss Yu's attitude towards life."

Yu Yao couldn't help but feel shy after being gently praised by Bai Fang, and her cheeks flushed. "Actually, I passed by here today because I was working nearby."

"I'm looking for a missing person who lives nearby. I wonder if Dr. Bai, who works here, has any impression of him?"

"A missing person? If he lives nearby and appears often, I might have an impression of him. Do you have any photos?" Bai Fang followed Yu Yao's topic very gently.

Yu Yao immediately took out the photo and handed it over.

Bai Fang took the photo and took a look at it.

"This person, I remember the police were looking for this missing person recently. Someone even came to the door asking about him not long ago. It seems he hasn't been found yet."

Yu Yao took the photo back with regret. "Doctor Bai doesn't remember it either. I guess I'll have to work harder to look for it later."

"Keep working hard, Miss Yu, I believe you can solve the problem smoothly." Bai Fang encouraged Yu Yao with a smile.

Yu Yao was touched. "Doctor Bai is so gentle! She is beautiful and kind-hearted."

Bai Fang's smile remained unchanged. "If possible, Ms. Yu, you don't have to call me doctor. I'm not a doctor, just an ordinary consultant."

"Sorry." Yu Yao scratched her head awkwardly. "I'm used to meeting with psychologists before, so I always call them that unconsciously. Now I feel like Dr. Bai is treating me."

Her cheeks flushed as she clutched her chest, her eyes filled with tenderness. "But I feel like Dr. Bai's results are better than the previous doctors. This is Dr. Bai's personal charm, I guess."

The light in Yu Yao's eyes sparkled, without any concealment.

The smile on Bai Fang's lips froze for a moment, but he quickly regained his gentle demeanor. "If you like to call me doctor, that's fine. As long as Miss Yu is happy."

"Can I come to see Doctor Bai again later?" Yu Yao leaned forward and stared at Bai Fang without blinking. The expectation in her eyes made it almost impossible to refuse.

Bai Fang smiled and nodded, "Of course you're always welcome here."

Yu Yao was very touched and was already thinking about coming here often to chat with Dr. Bai and cultivate their relationship.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door outside, so rough that it made the door panel rattle.

Yu Yao looked towards the door in confusion.

Bai Fang frowned slightly, then stood up and put a smile on his face again.

"I'll go open the door and take a look. Miss Yu, please wait a moment."
