Lin Yuxi woke up to find herself transmigrated into a novel set in a specific era. After only one day as a capitalist's young mistress, her home was raided, and she was sent to the countryside!...
Lin Yuxi chuckled, "When it comes to blind dates, once you start, you'll start again. If you really don't like someone, just refuse them openly. Any gentleman will understand what you mean."
Pei Danxue instantly regained her energy.
“You’re right. My mom and the others have set me up on blind dates more than ten times. They always say that people my age are getting married and having children, but I’m still single.”
Afterwards, Pei Danxue took Lin Yuxi to the cafeteria.
"Feelings can't be rushed. When the time is right, things will naturally fall into place." Lin Yuxi carried her tray as she and Pei Danxue served their food.
The two met at medical school, which was also a second major for them. Pei Danxue had previously studied at a teachers' college, following the tradition that her whole family were teachers. She never expected to choose to study medicine after graduation.
"You're right. After the blind date this week, let's go shopping together this weekend. I haven't seen Siyan in so long, I miss him so much."
Suddenly, a commotion arose at the food serving area of the cafeteria.
Lin Yuxi looked up and saw Sang Yelin in the crowd looking disheveled. His white shirt was covered in oil and some vegetable leaves, and he had no expression on his face. However, the girl behind him had her eyes wide open, clearly not expecting to have splashed him all over.
"I'm sorry, I accidentally bumped into you. I'll go outside right away and buy you a shirt to make up for it."
She kept bowing and apologizing, then took out a tissue and handed it to Sang Yelin, saying, "You wipe yourself first."
The cafeteria was noisy, and Lin Yuxi was some distance away from them, so she couldn't hear their conversation very clearly.
"Isn't that from the performing arts troupe? I heard she's been pursuing Sang Yelin. I wonder if they've gotten together after all this time," Pei Danxue said, biting her chopsticks and squinting her eyes.
Lin Yuxi, unconcerned with other people's affairs, changed the subject, saying, "Instead of worrying about other people's business, you should worry about your own life's most important matter."
Pei Danxue stared at the ceiling and sighed.
She's only twenty-seven, not old at all, so why does her family keep pressuring her?
Before he knew it, it was the weekend again. As it was time for Gu Chen to rest, he drove his car and parked it at the school gate on time.
Pei Danxue was also waiting, and when she saw Gu Chen get out of the car, she greeted him as well.
"Brother Chen."
Lin Yuxi turned her head and said, "I'll take you back; it's on my way anyway."
"My parents said they would pick me up this weekend. I have some errands to run tomorrow, and I need to discuss it with them when I get back. You should go back first, don't keep the child waiting." Pei Danxue quickly waved her hand to refuse, and then watched Lin Yuxi get into the car.
The vehicle had only traveled two hundred meters when Pei Danxue's father appeared at the school gate on his bicycle.
Lin Yuxi withdrew her gaze.
"You should get some sleep first. I'll wake you up when we get home," Gu Chen said slowly, looking at the bruises under Lin Yuxi's eyes.
Lin Yuxi nodded. Her entire group had been conducting experiments all week, and most of them hadn't slept well.
The distance from school back to the residential compound is already quite long; it usually takes two hours to drive there early in the morning, and the traffic is even worse during holidays, after school, and after get off work.
Lin Yuxi sat swaying in the car, her head resting on the screen, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
When she opened her eyes again, the car had just arrived at the family compound. Lin Yuxi was leaning back in her chair, her hair brushing against the backrest. As soon as she moved, the blanket covering her slipped off.
Gu Chen was still driving when he heard a faint sound. He turned his head and said, "Awake? I'll give you a foot bath tonight."
"Okay." Lin Yuxi bent down and picked up the blanket. She was still a little cold after falling asleep.
As autumn approached, the leaves on the roadside trees turned yellow and fell onto the car windows. She wrapped a blanket around herself as the car drove in through the gate, and the residential compound became much quieter.
