Gentle and radiant history graduate student vs. Cool, charming, and de...
Jiang Yiyu didn't answer. He opened the bag of hot packs, took out two pieces, tore them open, squeezed them in his hands, and then flattened them: "Stretch out your hand."
Song Shengsheng put the candy in her pocket and hesitantly opened her palm to him. Jiang Yiyu placed a warming pad that had begun to heat slightly on her palm: "The other hand."
Song Shengsheng raised her other hand and took the other hot pack he handed to her.
"That's it, let's go." Jiang Yiyu casually threw the bag of hot packs into the trash can next to the cashier, stuffed the remaining hot packs into his schoolbag, and pushed open the door of the store.
A gust of cold wind mixed with snowflakes blew in his face, and he subconsciously stood in front of Song Shengsheng. He looked back at the little girl and saw that she buried her face in the scarf again and put her hands in her pockets. Then he continued to walk in front of her with peace of mind and took her to the roadside to wait for a taxi.
All the way home, Song Shengsheng's palms were warm.
Before dinner that night, Wang Jing asked Song Shengsheng to go upstairs and call Song Ming and Jiang Yiyu down to eat. As soon as she reached the door of Song Ming's room, she heard Song Ming ask Jiang Yiyu in the room, "How did you get the injury on your wrist?"
Jiang Yiyu smiled nonchalantly: "I scratched it accidentally."
"Accidentally? Jiang Yiyu, don't try to use that non-mainstream self-harm trick on me. How old are you? Can you live a good life? Do you need to hurt yourself to avenge your father?"
"I didn't take revenge on him." Jiang Yiyu's voice was a little muffled: "I just scratched it accidentally."
Song Ming sneered and said nothing more.
Song Shengsheng knocked on the door: "Brother! Brother Yiyu! Mom asked me to call you to dinner."
"Oh! Got it. You go down first." After Song Ming finished answering, Song Shengsheng heard a rustling sound coming from the room. Song Ming lowered his voice and said, "Jiang Yiyu, this coat has long sleeves. Put it on. Don't let my parents and sister see it, so that they don't worry about you again."
Jiang Yiyu smiled and said, "Thank you."
During the meal, Song Shengsheng's eyes kept falling on Jiang Yiyu's wrist intentionally or unintentionally, and she inadvertently met his eyes. Jiang Yiyu raised his eyebrows at her imperceptibly and subconsciously put his left hand down on the table.
Wang Jing picked up some food for Jiang Yiyu and said, "Yiyu, eat more. You've lost weight recently. If you have nothing to do this weekend, stay at home. It's a good opportunity to spend time with Song Ming."
Jiang Yiyu smiled and nodded: "Okay, thank you, Auntie."
After dinner in the evening, Song Shengsheng sat at the desk and looked at the two hot packs on the table that were gradually losing their temperature. He hesitantly got up and went downstairs to get the medicine box from the storage room at home, and gently knocked on the door of the guest room where Jiang Yiyu lived.
After a long while, Song Shengsheng finally heard footsteps. Jiang Yiyu opened the door a little and asked in a low voice, "What's wrong?"
Song Shengsheng picked up the medicine box and shook it.
Jiang Yiyu was stunned for a moment: "Are you not feeling well? Why don't you go find your uncle or aunt or your brother? Why are you knocking on my door?"
Song Shengsheng shook his head: "You are injured."
Jiang Yiyu was stunned for a moment, then raised the corner of his mouth: "Be quiet, you have a good eye for observation." Jiang Yiyu glanced behind her and opened the door: "Come in."
Song Shengsheng walked into his room. Jiang Yiyu did not close the door tightly, but left it ajar.
He sat down on the bed and looked at his left wrist, which was covered by his sleeve. "Are you scared? If you are, leave the things behind. I'll take care of it myself later."
"You sent me home today and gave me a hot pack. I should thank you." Song Shengsheng put the medicine box in his hand beside the bed and took out the alcohol cotton ball and gauze.
Jiang Yiyu rolled up his sleeves and handed her his wrist. The wound had actually scabbed over, but the area around it was still a little swollen. A long scar ran across his bony wrist, looking particularly hideous against his fair skin.
Song Shengsheng said nothing, and quietly helped him re-bandage the wound: "In two days, you won't have to cover it anymore."
"Well, Xiao Shengsheng, do you want to be a doctor in the future?" Jiang Yiyu casually fiddled with the bow tied with gauze by Song Shengsheng on his wrist.
"In no mood."
"So what do you want to do?"
"I haven't thought about it yet, what about you, Brother Yiyu?"
"Me?" Jiang Yiyu smiled. "I'm fine the way I am now. I won't starve to death anyway, so I can just muddle along."
"Are you happy then?"
Jiang Yiyu was stunned for a moment: "I'm happy, I'm happy every day, I can do whatever I want, no one can stop me."
"Oh, that's good. It's just..."
"What?"
"I think you're lying. If you were truly happy, you wouldn't have hurt yourself. Actually, my brother and my dad are right. No matter how bad Uncle Jiang treats you, no matter how much you hate him, you shouldn't use your body or even your future to retaliate. To be honest, it seems pretty stupid."
After Song Shengsheng finished speaking, she didn't dare to look at him. She just packed up the medicine box, said good night to him, and left his room.
From that day on, Song Shengsheng heard Song Ming say when he came home that Jiang Yiyu had become much more restrained recently, rarely skipped classes, and even stopped talking back to the teacher in class.
Wang Jing heaved a sigh of relief after hearing this: "I hope that child can really get better slowly. You are only in your second year of high school now. If you work hard, maybe you can even get into university!"
But just when everyone thought Jiang Yiyu could get through the final exam safely, something even worse happened.
Song Shengsheng remembered that it was two days before her final exam. She went home with Song Ming and Jiang Yiyu. As soon as Song Ming left the school gate, he was inexplicably compelled to eat the red bean cakes sold in the alley opposite the school.
No matter how much they tried to persuade him, he wouldn't stop. There was no choice but for Song Shengsheng and Jiang Yiyu to accompany him to buy it.
