Chapter 26: Obtain sea duck eggs, capture pheasants (2/2)

"Poor little ducklings, your parents have forgotten about you. Come home with me!"

Gu Xi smiled and held the straw nest in both hands.

[Game Hint: Duck eggs have been found; they can be hatched]

[Game Hint: A nest in the grass has been found]

[Grass nest, description: a nest used by birds to incubate their offspring.]

[Incubation Countdown: 2 days]

Gu Xi wasn't sure if she could put anything alive in her backpack, so she tried putting in a sea duck egg, but the game gave her a warning.

[Game Tip: Do not put living creatures in your inventory.]

She had no choice but to carry the eggs.

Meanwhile, the pheasants on the other side were engaged in a fierce battle, trampling the strawberry crumbs under their feet into the mud.

Watching them fiercely pecking at each other, Gu Xi guessed that the food was just the trigger for their fight, and she estimated that these chickens had a very deep-seated grudge against each other.

Two chickens pecked at each other's eyes, and one chicken bled profusely. The victorious chicken crowed loudly and flew away.

Looking at the battlefield again, it was a scene of utter devastation, with several chickens lying listlessly on the ground. Some of them fluttered and struggled a few times, while others looked as if they had simply died.

Seeing this, Gu Xi couldn't help but admire the victorious chicken. It was truly a master among masters that it managed to defeat so many opponents with just one chicken!

However, the expert has already left, leaving her with a bunch of chickens to pick up.

[Dead Pheasant *1]

After collecting all the chickens, she found 4 dead chickens and 3 live chickens. The dead chickens could be put into her backpack, so Gu Xi simply put them in her backpack. The system automatically broke them down into 20 chicken meat pieces, 8 chicken legs, and 8 chicken feet, saving her the trouble of cleaning them up.

As for the other surviving chickens, one of them was particularly badly injured and looked like it wouldn't live much longer.

Gu Xi placed three live chickens and a nest of duck eggs under a big tree, then bent down and used an axe to cut grass.

Pheasants and sea ducks live in this area, and this grass is probably their food. If she wants to raise chickens and ducks, she should make sure to prepare enough grass.

[Game Hint: Found Reed Grass]

[Reed grass, description: a common food source for poultry.]

【3 seeds of Reed (芨芨草)】

Not long after the grass was harvested, it began to shed its seeds. Gu Xi guessed that this grass should be easy to find.

The harvested reeds automatically transform into round haystacks, each about 50 centimeters long and 30 centimeters in diameter.

Once a haystack is rolled up, put it into your backpack, and the backpack's storage will be measured as 1 haystack.

After cutting for about ten minutes, Gu Xi checked and found that the haystack had reached a storage capacity of 80. He then cut for a few more minutes, filling up one inventory slot.

With the chickens and ducks in hand, she needed to return to the raft first, since these live birds couldn't accompany her on her island expeditions.

Gu Xi used the grass vines to tie the chicken feet together. Although it wasn't very sturdy, it would do for now.

And so, with a chicken in one hand and a duck egg in the other, she spent nearly an hour returning to the raft.

Once on the raft, Gu Xi tied the chickens' feet together. She placed them under the shade to protect them from the rain, then took out a haystack as their food. Finally, she emptied her backpack. After finishing, she returned to the island to continue gathering herbs.

This time, her target was the ingredients for the life potion: Starflower and Dragon's Blood Root, along with some other medicinal herbs in the vicinity.

As for the chickens, hopefully they won't be dead when she returns. If they are, the life-saving potion might bring them back to life. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
