This person is Sister Xi.
The businessmen who had just spoken ill of the people instantly blushed, as if they had been caught red-handed, and were too embarrassed to speak.
"No, it's nothing..."
A businessman stammered, attempting to bluff his way out.
However, Gu Xi's slightly smiling lips concealed a sharp and piercing gaze, leaving him somewhat at a loss.
“Remember this, this is my territory,”
As she spoke, she beckoned the octopus over.
With a "chirp," the octopus happily hopped to Gu Xi's side and wrapped itself around her leg.
Gu Xi patted its head. "Did you treat your guests well?"
"Chirp chirp!" (Of course! You can ask them if you don't believe me!)
The octopus pointed at the merchants with its tentacles.
Pointed at by the octopus, the merchants stood trembling on the deck, the cold wind and rain lashing their faces.
The merchants looked at each other, puzzled as to what the octopus was saying.
Seeing that they didn't react, the octopus waved its tentacles even more excitedly, its "chirping" sounds growing louder, as if urging them to do something.
One merchant couldn't help but take a step back, nearly slipping and falling. The other merchant nervously swallowed, his Adam's apple bobbing. Cold sweat streamed down their backs, soaking their clothes.
The octopus continued its enthusiastic chirping and pointed towards the cabin with its tentacles. The merchants grew even more terrified; some even began to tremble slightly.
It was supposed to be a peaceful dialogue, but for some reason the atmosphere was tense.
Gu Xi strolled leisurely towards the merchants. She calmly surveyed the panicked merchants, a slight smile playing on her lips.
The silence continued, as if even the storm at sea had calmed down. The merchants held their breath, wondering what Gu Xi meant.
Gu Xi spoke slowly and deliberately, her voice calm yet tinged with amusement: "The octopus said it treated you well, is that right?"
As soon as she finished speaking, the merchants breathed a sigh of relief, their tense nerves relaxing slightly. However, the sharp glint in Gu Xi's eyes made their hearts tighten again.
The merchants looked at each other, their eyes revealing panic.
Finally, a chubby merchant spoke up, trembling: "Yes...yes, the octopus brought us tea."
“Yes, yes, yes!” another tall, thin merchant nodded repeatedly. “That tea is delicious!”
"The aroma is wonderful, and the aftertaste is unforgettable!" the third merchant chimed in, his voice tinged with flattery.
Gu Xi nodded slightly, looking down at the octopus that was jumping around excitedly, "Really?"
"Chirp chirp chirp!" The octopus let out a series of cheerful chirps, and its tentacles danced even more enthusiastically.
Gu Xi reached out and gently stroked the octopus's head, a smile playing on her lips. "Not bad, looks like you've done a great job."
Upon hearing this, the octopus proudly straightened up, its tentacles wrapped around Gu Xi's arm, and rubbed against it affectionately.
The merchants watched this heartwarming scene, but felt a chill run through them.
They were thinking to themselves: Gu Xi is so intimidating! She smiles so gently, but why do we feel like we have a cold blade pressed against our throats?
A few of the smarter businessmen secretly glared at their companions who had previously been gossiping. They cursed inwardly: "You bunch of fools! Daring to talk behind someone's back on their own turf—aren't you just asking for trouble?"
A bespectacled businessman couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "I should have kept quiet. Now look what's happened; I might be in deep trouble."
Gu Xi seemed to have heard something and turned to look at the bespectacled businessman. She narrowed her eyes, her smile unchanged, but her gaze was sharp as a knife: "Sir, what did you just say? I didn't hear you clearly, could you repeat it?"
The merchant's face turned deathly pale instantly, cold sweat poured down his back, and he stammered, "N-nothing... I... I was just praising the octopus for being cute."
Gu Xi chuckled, a dangerous glint in her eyes: "Really? Then what do you find cute about it? Why don't you elaborate?"
The merchants felt as if they had fallen into an ice cave, with only one thought in their minds: It's over, it's really all over! (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
