The hockey puck smoothly passed through the huge crack in the outer wall of the ruins, and the inside immediately fell silent, with only the faint hum of the puck's own movement remaining.
Compared to the chaotic and violent mental energy turbulence outside, this place seemed like another world altogether.
Darkness enveloped everything, with only a few objects scattered in the distance emitting an eerie glow, barely outlining the contours of the interior space.
The air was filled with a musty, rotten smell, mixed with a pungent odor.
"Pfft... It's so quiet here, but it feels even more eerie." Flame Scale muttered softly, its blue-purple flames flickering restlessly, illuminating the inside of the ice ball and reflecting its somewhat nervous face.
It subconsciously moved closer to Ais.
Ignoring Flamescale's little tricks, Ais unleashed a torrent of mental energy, carefully scanning his surroundings.
The temperature inside the ice puck remained pleasant under his control, but his eyes held a cold, scrutinizing gaze.
"The structure here doesn't resemble the style of Tal's era."
Gu Xi was also observing her surroundings.
This place is different from the ancient and mysterious style of the Thar ruins I've seen before.
From the outside, it's not noticeable, but once inside, the buildings retain a more metallic feel. Although most of them are corroded or covered by unknown substances, you can still see the once intricate structure.
There were some blurry markings left on the wall, which seemed to be some kind of writing or symbols. With her limited knowledge, she was not sure if it was the common language of the Tar era.
A network of broken, transparent pipes crisscrossed, containing dried, strangely colored sediment.
The ground was littered with oddly shaped fragments and glass-like container remains.
"Somewhat familiar, feels like a laboratory?" Gu Xi manipulated several spikes formed from mental energy, carefully parting a bunch of tangled, rope-like objects in front of him.
When the spikes touched those objects, they made a slight "sizzling" sound, and even a faint electric spark flashed.
"A laboratory? Isn't that what you humans call a laboratory? Would the Deep Sea Clan even do that?" Flamescale's eyes widened. "And who would build a laboratory in the Abyss? To study deep-sea monsters?"
“Possibly.” Gu Xi did not deny it. “Judging from the scale and the residual energy fluctuations alone, the research is probably not simple.”
They continued deeper. The hockey puck glided silently through a wide but dilapidated corridor.
The corridor is lined with tightly closed metal doors, most of which are severely deformed or damaged, and some doors still bear claw marks or traces of corrosion from some kind of strong acid.
"Watch out." Ais suddenly stopped, and the outer wall of the ice puck was instantly covered with an even thicker layer of ice crystals.
Almost simultaneously, a sickening metallic scraping sound came from around the corner ahead.
A twisted figure slowly crawled out.
The creature vaguely resembled the outline of some deep-sea creature, but its body was grafted with numerous metal parts that flickered with unstable electric arcs. Its exposed muscle tissue was an ominous dark purple, emanating a strong stench of decay and the same chaotic spiritual pollution it had exuded earlier. Its eyes were completely scarlet, devoid of any reason.
"Whoosh! What the hell is that?!" Flame Scale was so frightened that he almost jumped up, and the flames on his body suddenly shot up.
“A modified creature.” Gu Xi’s eyes narrowed. “And it has been corrupted by the abnormal spiritual energy here.”
The modified creature let out a roar that sounded inhuman and lunged at the ice puck with astonishing speed.
"Flame Scales!"
"Whoosh!" Flame Scale reacted with lightning speed, unleashing a blazing blue-purple pillar of fire that struck the modified creature precisely. The flames collided with the metal parts on its body, producing a piercing explosion.
The modified creature was forced back by the flames, emitting painful screams, but instead of blood, a viscous, bubbling green liquid flowed from its wounds. Even more bizarrely, the wounds were visibly writhing and healing.
"Can't be killed?" Flame Scale was a little dumbfounded.
“Its core sea beast pearl must have been modified. Although the fire in the water is powerful, it is blocked by that outer shell. My freezing ability can freeze mental power, let me give it a try.” Ais calmly analyzed, while several sharp ice spears condensed on the surface of the ice ball and shot out at high speed when the opponent was not paying attention.
