Chapter 404 Virus Research Institute (1) (2/2)

But more and more shadowy figures kept surging in, seemingly endless.

"Whoosh! How come there are so many of these things?" Flame Scale asked nervously as it released blue-purple flames.

“Pfft…” Ais’s hair trembled slightly. “They seem to be controlled by something.”

Gu Xi frowned slightly. She could sense that the spiritual energy fluctuations contained within these shadowy figures were extremely chaotic, as if they had been contaminated.

She quickly adjusted the direction of the object manipulation, allowing the hockey puck to maneuver nimbly through the shadows.

Suddenly, a deep-sea creature opened its gaping maw and lunged at the ice ball.

Flame Scale immediately spewed out a blue-purple flame, forcing the creature back.

Ais simultaneously reinforced the ice puck's defenses, making the ice spikes even denser.

"Pfft! These guys are like persistent ghosts!" Flamescale complained, flicking its tail.

"Focus," Ais said calmly, continuing to maintain the puck's defense.

Gu Xi gazed at the ever-deepening darkness ahead, a decision forming in his mind: "Let's descend quickly and find the ruins; that should allow us to escape them."

As they continued to descend, the number of those dark figures did indeed gradually decrease, but their strength grew stronger. These dark figures would occasionally attack the hockey puck, causing everyone great annoyance.

Suddenly, a strange mental fluctuation came from below.

Gu Xi: "There are strong mental energy fluctuations ahead, it seems we're almost there!"

"Whoosh!" Flame Scale's tail twitched uneasily. "Won't these shadowy figures follow us?"

Gu Xi did not answer, but instead focused intently on observing what lay ahead.

In the deep darkness, a huge silhouette loomed indistinctly. It appeared to be the ruins of a building, but was surrounded by an eerie black mist.

"That's it," Gu Xi said softly. "Ais, prepare for defense. Yanlin, be ready for battle at any time."

Just as they were about to approach that area, a strange, mixed spiritual force swept towards them like a tsunami.

“Something’s not right here.” Gu Xi frowned. “Be careful.”

Gu Xi maneuvered the ice puck slowly towards the ruins shrouded in black mist. As the distance closed, the mixed fluctuations of spiritual energy grew stronger.

"Plop..." Ais's hair fluttered gently. "The mental energy here is very chaotic."

"Pfft! How creepy!" Flame Scale shrank his neck and subconsciously moved closer to Ais.

Gu Xi carefully examined the building ruins in front of her.

It was a huge circular building, its surface covered with strange patterns, like some kind of ancient runes.

Black mist flowed around the building, sometimes condensing, sometimes dispersing, writhing like a living thing.

Just then, a faint green figure quietly appeared at the top of the ruins.

The vines of the cowgrass swayed gently in the deep sea currents, silently watching everything below.

It carefully controlled its aura, making sure that Gu Xi and the others would not discover it.

“We’ll go in through that gap.” Gu Xi pointed to a crack on the side of the building while adjusting the direction of the hockey puck.

The ice hockey puck slowly passed through the crack and entered the interior of the ruins.

In the darkness, some eerie, faint lights illuminated the entire space, making it flicker between light and shadow.

At the top of the ruins, the vines of the cow grass swayed gently, its gaze always following the ice hockey puck below, yet always maintaining a distance from being detected.

The deep-sea currents flowed around it, yet they had no effect on its existence. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
